At least I'm not the only one with the problem...ive tried catalyst 10.1-10.4 ive tried not even installing CCC and just the display drivers! I have the same vid card/OS as you also.

No go..i tried the disable desktop composition trick and same problem.

yeah the event viewer is just those erros I posted....nothing for FC2 Specifically....I'm running everything stock. I have many other newer/older games on this system and everything runs 100% rock solid....This is the only game giving me any trouble. Just really frustrating as I want to fly again lol.

Anyone get anything from that FC error log?

Just loaded up real quick with aero off and froze twice in 5 minutes of play.

Windows 7 64bit Pro and yes aero is on..I can try it with it off too.

LOL missed the most important part! it's an XFX Radeon 5870 Ive tried 4 different versions of catalyst I've also tried just instaliing the drivers with no catalyst. not sure if i'll get into any playing tonight...but soon as I do I'll clear all my event and error logs before I start FC2 and give you guys a copy of exactly whats happeneing. also my dxdiag comes back no problems.

Ok I'm getting issues again after a while of it workign ok....but randomly and quite often during flight the game will freeze for like 10-15 seconds and then assuming I havent crashed into the ground it resumes fine. once I alt tabbed out during it and saw an error message stating "Display driver amd has stopped working and has recovered?" ...ALOT of ati users seem to have gotten a message liek this at some point on various games/systems. but for me this is the only program I ever have an issue with...I can do all sorts of intensive stuff all day but as soon as I pay lockon it freezes. Heres my system specs...its more tha adequete for it. ASUS Rampage II Extreme mobo Intel Core i7 930 6 gig Mushkin ddr3-1600 running at ddrr3-1066 Crucial C300 128gb SATA 3 drive 500 gig data drive Antec true power 750 PSU Antec 1200 case Thermalright Venemous X cooler my idle temps are mid 20's-low 30's and load temps are mid 30's to low 40's

yeah alot of the times i'll route my games through my stereo by setting the windows default sound device to them but i leave teamspeak as my headset for comms. I havent had a lockups there either. Maybe tomorrow I can try reversing that. but i've been flying multiplayer and single player all day today and have not had one single freeze since I unchecked those boxes.

found a fix if anyone is interested. I went into the sound options for my head set and had to diable the 2 options for exclusive mode....aparrantly when teamspeak and FC2 were both trying to access my sound drivers it would cause random crashes.

Just want to bring to ED's attention a bug I finally tracked down! I played lockon on my new system for like 4-5 days straight with no lock-ups/ crashes at all.....then all of a sudden every 5-10 minutes my game would freeze or CTD. well after help from some friends and other ED forum problems I tracked it down.....when playing the game through my speakers on my onboard sound it was running flawless! but as soom as I enabled my USB headset for quiet late night play it would freeze constantly! I looked at all my error logs and they are all sound errors. my USB headset is a logitech clear chat pro.....I have no problems with black shark or any other games,just lockon. and there are no drivers for this device...its all windows based. so hopefully this will help ED in tacking down some errors wit sounds.

WTF 8-35k download speed...most sites I get 1.5mbps!!! and cannot log into FTP at all. =(

Just create a mission that is blank except for a ka-52 sitting on the runway...simple as that and takes liek 30 seconds!

well maybe not BS but definitly for lockon...also depends on what you have for any background programs or services running...

@topdog read that review site i linked and search i7-920 for further reading... yes they can goto 4ghz but not for long term 24/7 operation like I stated above..in fact most chips out in circulation will only goto 3.8ghz....get some good low latency ram and just up the BCLCK slightly and goto 3.3-3.5 ghz and youll have long term stable speeds!

because intel them selves state that their processors can go higher than what they are at factory and thats why mobo manufacturers design OC boards...intel knows that people will do it...hey the $250 i7-920 EASILY over clocks to the $1000 i7-975 extreme!!! and its WELL below its thermal/volatge capacities....why wouldn't you want to save $750 for 2 minutes of tweaking....the 920 has been proven to easily do 3.8ghz at 24/7 daily operation and 4+ghz for extreme benchmarking. thats why i only plan on goint to the 975 speed (3.33 ghz)...its far less than the max 24/7 so it will be cool and stable. besided games like BS and lockon still arent optimized for multiple cores...thats why a fast single core pentium 4 can beat out a 2.6 ghz quad core! these games are CPU intensive so just by upping the speed a little bit and perfectly safe you can gain tons of performance!

not to bust in...but there are some boards liek the asus rampage im getting that setup automatic overclocking VERY easily and even set all the voltages properly for you.!!! http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/rampage_ii_extreme/ this is the board im getting they test it with an i7-920 scroll down to teh setup & overclocking page!

pretty sure you can order from new egg and ship to the uk...yeah those are prolly the best timings for that speed available..benchmarks show quite often that higher 2000 plus speed and looser latencies arent as quick as slightly slower speed with real tight timings.

Im about to build my system similiar to yours i7-920 but it will only be over clocked to 3.3-3.5 (read alot that the 920 doesnt like to go past 3.8 and with a 21 multiplier you need to loosen the timings on RAM to up the BCLK which the low latency ram is what i7s love) 6gb Mushkin PC-1600 6-6-6-18 Ram! I use a 56" Samsumg DLP myself and I run mostly at 1920x1080 for all my games but have my desktop 1360x768 which is the same aspect ratio so I can read text...BS looks the same at this reso too...but mine fill up the screen perfectly...I have the DVI from my GTX275 into the HDMI of my tv. no problems here!
