  1. i had a BS person complaining about same thing in my FC2 created mission. I opened my mission again in FC2, then: Set Mission Options (Tick button) Against Game flight mode and/or Game avionics mode: 'check' enforce & 'uncheck' value he's happy now
  2. using the gear scenario, i dont want a toggle switch mapped to 'G' twice, i,e, in each direction. on the toggle switch i want UP to be 'gear up', DOWN to be 'gear down'...as per FC2. but the original reason for posting was, many of the weapons switches in BS and FC2 have a single key associated to them only, meaning if the switches are out of sync at the start of the mission for any reason, they will be out of sync for rest of flight. i know that makes for lots of key combinations (of which there are already many). but they dont have to be mapped by default when the game ships...people can choose to map them if/when they need them.
  3. Hello all, Searched for word 'key' in this thread and couldn't find what i am looking for. Does Warthog have full key commands available for cockpit functions, to support those who make external hardware controls/switches? i.e. Gear Up and Gear Down, as opposed to a single Gear key command 'g' that Blackshark has Would be nice to use toggle switches on panels instead of a push button. Flaming cliffs2 is better than Blackshark in this respect. cheers
  4. thinking about games which came with big printed manuals: i paid more for m1 tank platoon back in 1990 and falcon4 in 1998, than i paid for blackshark in early 2009. if cutting out cost of printed manual (+cost of shipping the heavy thing) is part of what keeps a game/sim cheap and the developers in business...i'm all for it. if you need a paper version...print it. it's there on your disk ! or put it up on a laptop whilst playing on games pc
  5. im using original x52 without probs
  6. it was a cloudy scenario, lights all lit on runway. but unless all setttings, screen res etc are posted - its all subjective. im sure if xp/win7x86 was on the g73, fc2 would run a damn side faster. win7x86 and xp32 whip win7x64 for fc2 on my gaming pc.
  7. it will play it, but screen resolution and your expectations will play a part. the asus g73jh laptop runs FC2, but its a pretty ordinary affair at 1920x1080 (15-20fps sitting on the tarmac when i loaded it up just now). i7-720 (2.8ghz), ati5870 vid, 8gb, win7x64 its wonderful for playing graphic orientated games at high details (bfbc2, mw2, dragon age etc)..but the slow processor lets it down for sims. are the i5 processors faster than the i7's, and/or does fc2 take advantage of i5 features?
  8. Still havent got mine working...my little csharp program seems to just hang waiting for some traffic on localhost or 127.0.0.1 at port X (same port number specified in export.lua) even though FC2 is running. Tried creating another program to send UDP traffic to same port, so i can test my 1st program reads it...but start getting errors that two programs cant be bound to same port at same time on same machine. i'll have a look at the java code tomorrow. Reading Yodas spiel, he appears to utilise tcp, not udp. (i didnt really want to send anything back from my program to flaming cliffs...not at this point anyway). To anyone who has got export.lua working with UDP... does the line: c:setoption("tcp-nodelay",true) need to remain commented out for UDP ? cheers
  9. thanks for the response. you've answered my 3rd un-posted question which was: "will file or sockets i/o be better for all this". went with the file method initally as thought it'd be quicker to code (didnt give much thought to the file contention issue, logs will be big etc). Will work on the socket stuff tonight.
  10. Hello all, quite happy that my first experiment with export.lua->export.log has worked tonight in game. I created a replica of the su25 configuration indicator (flaps/speedbrake/gear) for my g15 keyboard lcd. Thought that would b nice and simple before cracking on with other things i want to achieve. Basically i have some c# code updating the g15 LCD every 5 f.p.s. On each update, I copy export.log, find the last complete record in the copy, parse it and update the drawings on the LCD accordingly. What i want to know is: a) is that the normal way everyone reads the export.log ? i.e. make copy of file, find index of last record, check its a complete record in code. If i tried to read the export.log that fc2 is writing to with c# streamreader, i got access violations. Or is there a smarter way to find the last complete record only in export.log quick n easily? b) can the export.log be truncated by flaming cliffs automatically so only the most recent X records are listed? i.e. with my current method outlined, i imagine the performance will start to suffer after an hours flight when the log file gets loooooooooooong! cheers
  11. Hello, dont have a simpit of any descript as of yet...just sussing out what controls i might want to make first and what components are available locally. The blackshark engine switch, is that type of switch something that's readily available in shops anywhere? i.e. has 4 positions: up, down to left, down to right and centre cheers
  12. All i've seen in fc2, arma2, fsx, blackshark are far lower (bordering unplayable) framerates with win7x64 on my pc. win7x64 was the first o/s on my pc and its still there for non-sim games. winxp32 flies along with the sim games mentioned above, silky smooth - i really feel like i am flying win7x32 performance is same as winxp except the pause whilst changing exe in fc2. havent tried blackshark yet...will try it tonight. for the record, i didnt get the pause between fc2 menu exe and simulator.exe on win7x64
  13. Hello all, i've been happily playing FC2 under xp32 without any problems. decided to dual boot the same pc with win7 x86, and installed FC2 again. under win7, when i press on the start mission button, the menu disappears, i can see the FC2 icon on the windows taskbar and it sits there for 1-2minutes before the screen (with grey loading progress bar) is even displayed. under XP it's instantaneous. performance in game seems the same, its just the loading that gets infuriating :) if you've experienced the same, and got a workaround - could you share? xp and win7 are on same HDD (diff partitions) FC2 for xp and FC2 for win7 are installed in seperate directories of same HDD (not the o/s HDD) i7-920@4,asus p6t deluxe v2, 6gb,evga gtx295 (258 drivers under xp and win7)
  14. i got tired of mods conflicting with each other and modman not being able to restore things back to normal. I re-installed fc2, patched it, took a backup of the harddisk...so now i know ive got a fresh working copy to fall back on..when i get carried away installing too many mods at once.
  15. login at http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com then choose files->products
  16. bios all looks good. machine is running good. but im not the one here wanting or needing help, the OP is... speaking of OP, did you end up putting win7 on in one form or another? if so, how did your BS experience compare? fast, slower, negligible difference? just remembered i have a vista install on same desktop, which can be blown away. will put win7 32bit on it tonight and see how that compares with xp and win7 64bit with BS
  17. other games mentioned, as theyre cpu bound also and demonstrate the same characteristics on my machine. out of the box, i reiterate xp32 wins over win7x64 by a mile. if i need to perform some tweaks to force win7 to use more than 1 core on BS [edit: and bring performance to the same level as xp w/o tweaks], then i'll give that a whirl later. thanks for the 'something is really screwed up' advice, we're all the more wiser for it.
  18. firstly im talking specifically about win7x64 earlier where you seem to be generalsing now. Clean install of win7x64 provides me with 50-60fps tops and some minor stuttering. Fresh install of XP32 delivers 50fps as a minimum in the cities, whilst most of the time around 80-120 and silky smooth. same with ARMA2, FSX and X-Plane i7-920@4ghz, evga gtx295, asus p6t deluxe v2, 6gb ddr3 corsair (dont start on the whole "xp aint seeing all of it"...i dont care, if the sims are blistering along). i run win7x64 on the same pc still for all the simpler stuff, i.e. bfbc2, crysis, dragon age, command an conquoer type games. i appreciate windows7 might be running faster for you, x64 aint for me. i'm happy, cause xp has saved the day. build a bridge, and get over it.
  19. im sure you'd need to install it under win7 to get the registration/authentication process to work. personally i just keep playing bs/fc2 under xp, as its miles quicker than under win7x64 (on my machine).
  20. i'm a newb to lockon in general, but with a10 in multiplayer its fairly easy finding the radar guided ground targets... One person goes to the frontline and tries to get painted by the ground targets...which gives that pilot the bearing of where the targets are on the RWR. That info can be passed to the wingman, who is hanging back a bit, and watches in that direction for a missile launch or the target on ground. with the f15, the rectangles (prior to locking on) are indicative of where the enemy plane(s) were at a given time yes/no? So if you are slow in slewing the cursor to select the target...when you press the lock (enter) key, there is nothing there to actually lock onto anymore. the target has moved on but the radar screen hasnt updated yet i.e. you might need to press enter near where the target is on the radar (based on targets heading)
  21. i had same problem with pause etc. The gripen model looked nice but wasnt happy they also replaced the FC2 background screens which wasnt expected (and goodness knows what else i didnt know about)...so off it came i ended up reinstalling FC2 from orbit, it was the only way to be sure.
  22. ah thanks, i read the f15 keycommands pdf a few times, even did a search on word 'waypoint' and somehow missed it embarrassing really :)
  23. Hello, the manual says the selected waypoint appears down the bottom right whilst in Nav Mode. My question is: Who is selecting this waypoint, us (and therefore - how?) or the aircraft does it automatically? I noticed after takeoff it says waypoint 2..but switching to a combat mode and back to nav...the waypoint is set to 1 thanks
  24. i only turned this setting on tonight, to 10% do we actually get to see the birds in the sky ? better yet: can we see them, on the trk file, being ingested and sprayed out the back painting our wingman red?
  25. FC2 automatically unmaps keys when they're assigned to something else. Z is now mapped to screenshot, X is mapped to show FPS. Z and X are NOT mapped to anything else under the F15->All controls. In game, Z and X do nothing (no screenshots get saved to the screenshot folder). Z/X are not invoking rudder left/right I have installed FC2 on the same PC twice, in two different folders: one for winXP x86 and one for win7 x64. Same problem occurs under both o/s
