A stutter could occur if your mission is very complicated with a lot of objects; this is due to the DCS World Lua API. We have not made major changes to the exporter in years. Can you please try with the 1.7.6 to see if you have the same stutter? You can download the 1.7.6 at the bottom of this page: https://tacview.net/support/reportbug Can you please also share your dcs.log file and mission or trk file Maybe there is another add-on interfering
-
Other than its display options and the bug which will not allow players to be selected, the Active Objects List it should be behaving the same as before - it should be showing only aircraft with pilot names. If this is not the case can you please provide the acmi file and a screenshot of the list?
-
I am glad you asked! I have listed the mapping here in our very new wiki: https://tacview.fandom.com/wiki/DCS_World

Hi Crimson, thank you for the data. I have been unable to reproduce this issue. I think it may be a bug in DCS World. I am sorry I am not able to give you a better answer. We are keeping your feedback and files for future reference - maybe next time we re-work the exporter it will help us to narrow down the issue.
-
I don't know if Windows will support that. I will check. In Tacview 2.0 it will be possible for sure.
-
Now the active objects list can be docked or floating, and transparent if desired. This is considered an improvement. For example if you are doing a debriefing you should have the option to move the active object list off the 3D view. You should be able to place the window in the bottom right corner and add some transparency however you like it, and it will stay like that for you. Sorry for the trouble. It was pointed out in another thread that it is no longer possible to select an object from the active objects list. This is an oversight that will be fixed in Tacview 1.8.1
-
Hi Ares63, this is a great point. We had modified the window to better meet the needs of the French Army and completely forgot about this functionality. We will fix this in a coming update.
-
Hi Madfish, sorry I am not sure I understand. Radar locks are available only for local Flaming Cliffs aircraft because DCS World does not export the information for other aircraft. I don't think the orientation of the pilot's head is exported by DCS World either which is why this is not currently a feature. With this in mind have you noticed some regression or something that is missing?
-
That's right, Tacview's .acmi files will work with 1.8.0 and with any subsequent Tacview version for probably at least 10 years. Not to be confused with DCS World .trk files which sometimes do not work from one major DCS update to the next. (I say this not to be negative in any way but just because lots of people get confused between Tacview's .acmi files and DCS World's .trk files so I just genuinely want to be clear on the difference :) )

Hi Zeagle, A logbook feature as you have described has been requested by others as well and is a long-term goal for Tacview. In the meantime, there is functionality to export the flight log via the command line, as an xml of csv file - does this help?
-
Great question Zeagle! Actually we have specifically improved the Tacview installer to work better with a dedicated server. Simply run the new installer and it should install and/or update Tacview in all the right places.
-
Tacview 1.8.0 now supports dedicated servers and will install all necessary files; however you still have to customize the options manually, in the Options.lua file.

Hi Crimson, I have tried to reproduce this issue but I have not been successful. Maybe your mission is corrupted. Can you share: the log of your server your mission file and the .acmi file used to export the event log
-
Thanks for these files. The DCS Log you provided refers to the .acmi file C:\Users\Peter\Documents\Tacview\Tacview-20190828-155810-DCS-Caucasus F18 Training Syllabus.zip.acmi but you have provided the .acmi file Tacview-20190828-155808-DCS-Caucasus F18 Training Syllabus.zip.acmi which indeed is not showing any IAS info because it is the server's .acmi file. Remember that the .acmi file recorded by the server will not have any IAS information but the acmi file recorded by the client should have the IAS info. So can you try running C:\Users\Peter\Documents\Tacview\Tacview-20190828-155810-DCS-Caucasus F18 Training Syllabus.zip.acmi and let me know if the IAS is showing in that one.

Hi speedbird5, I tested the F/A 18 and it does give IAS for me. This should be working with the Tacview Demo. Can you please share your .acmi file and corresponding dcs.log file with me?
-
Everything certainly seems to be in order on your end. What kind of aircraft are you flying? Actually it's possible that your aircraft does not export IAS. If so we will try to add it for a future update. Sorry I did not think of this sooner.
-
Hi speedbird5, A server does not have access to the IAS of each player because it does not have access to the cockpit information in any case. Only a client can record their own cockpit information. Additionally, only if you have enabled "Allow Sensor Export" and "Allow Player Export" in the server will a client be able to record their own flight and IAS information. Hope this helps,

Hi Pand, Actually you do not need to have a registered version of Tacview on the server in order to record telemetry for the host or for clients. When you put ["tacviewRecordClientsSessionsEnabled"] = true, Tacview will record files for the clients only and not for the host. If you have this setting enabled and you launch the server with no clients connected, you will not get any .acmi file. So your choices are: 1. Set ["tacviewRecordClientsSessionsEnabled"] = true and record one .acmi file for each client - if there are no clients you will get no .acmi file 2. Set ["tacviewRecordClientsSessionsEnabled"] = false and record one .acmi file for yourself and no .acmi files for any clients - you will always get 1 .acmi file. By default the .acmi files are saved in Documents/Tacview. This can be changed in Tacview main application via Options -> ACMI Files Recording Folder Hope this helps!

Hi Mitja, Are you saying that you have installed Tacview 1.4.2? That is a very old version. I don't think there was any direct link to DCS World back then. You can get our most recent version 1.7.6 here: http://tacview.net/download. Let me know if I can help further!

Just a reminder for anyone who is interested - tomorrow is the last day of the Summer Sale!

Hi sc_neo, In Tacview 1.8.0 Beta 14, the navigation bar (as well as all other windows) are dockable so you can drag it wherever you want, even in full-screen mode, and if you right-click on the title bar you have the option to change the transparency of each window. I looked into it and it would unfortunately not be feasible to add custom keybindings right now. We'll consider it for Tacview 2.0. I tried Mapview with OpenStreetMap and it failed for me as well. We will reach out to the developer about this. In the meantime you could use Thunderforest as a data source. To do so, simply sign up as a Hobby Project developer on Thunderforest's website to obtain an API Key. Then copy-paste this API key into Mapview's ini file.
-
Hi sc_neo, Just tested this and it doesn't work for me either ... I am going to look into this further and try to get it fixed in a coming update. Thanks for letting us know!
-
Hi AtomicP, In Options => Special => Tacview have you ticked the box "Create one file for each network client"? This box must remain unticked if you wish to generate an acmi file for yourself as a user of your own server Let me know if this helps!
-
Hi Catseye, There is not currently any downloadable manual but here is the FAQ for DCS World: https://www.tacview.net/documentation/dcs/ And there are some YouTube videos available from the community such as this one: I plan on creating a wiki and tutorials later this year.
-
Hi Oceandar, In all Tacview editions, no recording can be made if the server does not allow player export. So you would still have to replay the track to generate an acmi file.
