  1. ... and what is so hard to understand, that if you don't have the 1.0.1a patch and need to reinstall now, you only can download the 1.0.1b patch WITH the mentioned problems :(
  2. .. and for the englich version of 1.0.1b as well! (Seem my other thread named 'STill need to set GB locals after fresh install')
  3. Hi Dragon, i suppose you have a german OS? Change the localísation to something anglo american, then it will work. I have the same problem after reinstall with fresh download. I thought it was fixed, but apparently they managed to reintroduce this error in the new patch file. And, btw, i made the reinstall with new download because of crashes i still get, even after i bought a complete new computer.
  4. Thx TKMR, but unfortunately running as admin doesn't solve the problem. I still get this error: Only setting the locale to GB ur US helps.
  5. Hi, i thougt it was solved. Made a fresh install with new downloads (today). All up to 1.0.1b Patch and i again get the lua error, if i try to get into settings/controls. Have to set local to something anglo american to play the game, any advice? tia splashman edit: German Vista Home Premium 64Bit English Download/ English 1.0.1b Patch Q9650/4GB
  6. HTA, just a quick note that i still have this problem even after the patch. Crash after ~5mins flying, first sound fades, after that screen freeze. I can press ESC and ENTER blindly and that'll bring me to the debrief screen. No crash log, but these are the only lines in the error log: 2009/8/11 16:35 Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickButtonOn.wav, err: Ran out of memory I'll buy a new system after the summer, then i'll give this one a final try. PS: re. any comments, that it must be my system, i can play ROF without (computer :) ) crash with medium settings (no shadows) at about 15-22 fps. splashman
  7. Hi, i think, this is absolutely correct. The only axis that is causing trouble in regards of trim is rudder. One problem is, if you are in a way out of center trim position you need a new trim with the opposite amount of rudder just to come back to center! As long as you don't have the real hardware it would be much more intuitive to simply disable rudder trim. I started the game after 6 month to check out the new patch and i managed to crash two times in a row just because of bad rudder trim. Please consider this simple solution, just make an option to disable rudder trim. thx, splashman
  8. Most probably you have an ATI graphics card and you installed CAT 9.1 or later. This is a known issue. Disable Catalyst AI in the 3D settings of the Catalyst Control Center or, if nothing else helps, revert back to 8.12.
  9. HTA, short period of joy is over, played the Convoy1 misson, just flying along. First engine sounds went away and shortly after screen freeze. This time not even any action from my side other than looking around via TIR. Funny, in the same moment, the screen froze, sound (partly) recovered. Last lines from error.log: Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickThumb.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickThumb.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickThumb.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickButtonOn.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickThumb.wav, err: Ran out of memory CreatePixelShader("Bazar\Effects\Exhaust\exh_p.dat"), D3DERR_INVALIDCALL.
  10. thx bengo did it and so far two missions without a problem, fingers crossed ...
  11. HTA, ok, changed back to old X800GTO. Horrible fps but i could play some missions without problem. But the again, first sound fading and if i the start the flare program screen freeze. This time i was in outside view right befor it happend, changed back to cockpit -> sounds are gone -> activate flares -> screen freeze ... So, i doubt it is my graphics card, i could test the X1950Pro with 3dMark06 for hours without a crash. Now i wait for the patch and then i'll give it anther chance ... thx for all the advice ps: in case someone cares, error.log attached ... Error.zip
  12. oops, meaning is GUI is back to normal. without reinstall of BS
  13. HTA, just for info, switched back to Cat 8.12 and everything is as usual. I had disabled Catalyst AI, resp. set to standard as without that Launcher.exe failed to start.
  14. hi, as of the unsolvable problems regarding screen freezes this one is not important, but perhaps it helps to identify issues. After install of Cat 9.1 i lost most of the menu background gfx. Pls see attachment. Debrief & briefing screens are looking kind of low res and because the background is white i cant read the briefing. 3D in game is not affected, everything as usual. The problem is present in fullscreen or windowed mode. Thx
  15. Report after change of location of Pagefil.sys: didn't take long, started, accelerated and activated the flare program. -> freeze in the background the game played on, i could hear the flare dispenser poping flares and sometime later the chopper crashed into the ground. this time no indications in the error.log and no sound problems. Last thing that i will try is changing the graphics card. I found my old X800GTO and i'll replug this one in for some tests with BS.
  16. thx for advice - yes, onboard sound disabled (BIOS), DxDiag shows only new soundcard. And btw, symptoms with AC97 and soundcard were identical. Might only be, that i have better fps with dedicated sound card. DxDiag shows now hardware accelerated sound. Only other games i play are IL2, GTLegends, and GTR2. No problems at all with these games. When Crysis came out i played this as well without problems, but i'm no big fan of FPS. By now it's gone from my HD and i don't want to reinstall this just to check my system. Because i need this system sometimes for work, i try to keep it as clean as possible, which means regular windows updates and system checks. Once in a while i get a BSD due to a problem in the saitek X52 driver software, but so far this never happend in BS.
  17. thx for your help just to be on the safe side i moved the page file to a different partition and changed the min and max values. i'll check stability after work and will report back thx again
  18. - clean install, factory fresh - BS is on drive Q, ~40GB free - tested memory with memtest for ~4h, no errors - sound card is a Soundblaster 5.1 clone - 750W PSU (way oversized, X1950Pro draws ~70-90W max ) - latest MB driver, that are available from Gigabyte as already mentioned, i have absolutely no stability problems with this system, gamewise almost exclusively IL2 and a short period of Crysis. if there is anything i can do, to get this sorted (activationg additional log output, test software, check system settings ), i would try it. But until now i got no response from ED reps. i know my system is at the lower end of the spectrum but i have seen a lot of posts of people with even lower specs.

Somebody gave the tip to test my memory, which i did with no negative results. one time i startet a memtest consuming 500MB while i was playing. i got bad fps (10-12) but was able to play the mission to the end (~30mins). Sure is there something with my system, that BS doesn't like, but the more different checks i make the more it am convinced, that the system itself is pretty clean.
  20. Hi, i give up, i'm unable to get this sim running stable. - i reinstalled DirectX - i bought a Soundcard - i reinstalled BS multiple times - i downloaded it multiple times with MD5 checksum test - i tested severall different graphic drivers - i disabled AntiVir SW I still have the problem, that the sounde goes partly away and shortly after i usually get a screen freeze. Game itself still reacts, as i can go in outside view (F2) and hear, that something changes. I can press blindly ESC and ENTER and i get to the debriefing screen. Normally i don't have a crashlog, but an error.log with entries like this: DXDefTexture: failed to load ±-13.bmp, D3DXERR_INVALIDDATA. DXDefTexture: failed to load steklo-4.bmp, D3DXERR_INVALIDDATA. Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/RotorKA50Dyn.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/RotorKA50Hi.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/RotorKA50Noise.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/Avionics_AC_400Hz.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/StbyAttInd.wav, err: Ran out of memory Failed to play sound Sounds/EnglishVersion/RF/WINGMAN1/FourBegin.wavSounds/EnglishVersion/RF/WINGMAN1/TwoEnd.wavSounds/EnglishVersion/RF/WINGMAN1/HRequestRearm.wav, err: Ran out of memory proc_rearm_pylon : pylon = 0 , CLSID = {FC56DF80-9B09-44C5-8976-DCFAFF219062} proc_rearm_pylon : pylon = 1 , CLSID = {FC56DF80-9B09-44C5-8976-DCFAFF219062} proc_rearm_pylon : pylon = 2 , CLSID = {FC56DF80-9B09-44C5-8976-DCFAFF219062} proc_rearm_pylon : pylon = 3 , CLSID = {FC56DF80-9B09-44C5-8976-DCFAFF219062} Failed to play sound Sounds/Effects/ClickThumb.wav, err: Ran out of memory Is there anything addressed in the comming patch, that might help regarding those problems? If it runs it is stunning but it is very frustrating to sneak for 20mins to a favourable position and then get a screen freeze, game over .... tia
  21. hi @ntonis, possible solution: if you talk to the tower, i think you have to ask in the correct order. eg before asking takeoff you have to ask roll permission. if i simply ask 'request control hover' i don't get a answer to 'request takeoff' either. before talking to Maintenance you have to do some switching on the Radio Intercom Control Panel. Put the Intercom Source Selector to the rightmost position (Ground crew intercom). Described in the Flight Manuel pg 2-102. ps don't forget to reset this switch to VHF-2 (leftmost) to talk to tower or wingmen
  22. Hi fedor, i had the same problem. Some other nice guy pointed me in the right direction. You have to do the ABRIS stuff in the mission editor running 'Prepare Mission' from the menu. After that save the mission! It is not possible to save ABRIS data during normal mission play, only in the ME using Prepare Mission. Described in the GUI Manual pgs 56, 57
  23. How about saving the track. Isn't it possible to take control in the track? Just let the track replay in accelerated time mode and take control at the end.
  24. Last bump from my side Running out of ideas. No memory problems discovered. I reinstalled DirectX, installed different graphic driver (back to Catalyst 7.11 ), removed second monitor, reduced resolution to 1280 x 768 and finally set desktop resolution to this value as well. Still random screen freezes, mostly with previous sound fadings. I don't think it is related to mission complexity, as already said, i played the battle.miz twice without freezes, although i had some of the described sound issues. I made a different mission in the northern part of the map, around the inland lakes. Some flights and some friendly ground units. Mainly navigation in this mission but also some shooting at some tank targets. I flew for about 1h 40mins with refueling, lost the sound three or four times completely, even in outside view. Late in the mission my helicopter turned transparent but recovered before landing. Flashing panels and other graphic artefacts, but the mission ran through, no freezes. Track file was ~10-12 MB. Last try: - is there anybody with similar problems out there? - is there anybody with a ATI X1950Pro AGP card running this game without problems? Thanks in advance.
  25. newest info: assumption about weather was wrong. The summer mission that yesterday allways run throug crashed today while i was still starting up the helo. Tried it three times with three crashes before liftoff. :( This is a mini mission i created myself, perhaps the mission is bugged, so i switched over to the first campaign. First two missions ran through without a glitch, third (and fourth?!?) crashed once, after mission restart i was able to complete the mission. Then the night mission, ALARM, no joy. Tried it five times, five crashes. Two crashes short of touchdown, nearly on the ground. I used the NVG in this mission, so that was at least one big difference. After that i tried the battle mission out of the mission folder, two runs each about 30mins, no problem ( only low fps, but that's ok, my system is not so good ). Soo, what gives: - still have sound problems, but i also have missions where i fly just for an hour, sound going and coming, and i'm able to terminate the mission normally - some missions crash constantly - some missions sometimes work/ sometimes crash - some missions crash never (fingers crossed) What i'd like to know is, is there a known problem with sound? And is there a known problem related to the " Create Pixel Shader (D3ERR_INVALIDCALL) " error ?!? Or is it realy only my system an no one else is having similar problems? Please let me know, if there are people out there, which have also such problems. Thx in advance
