Kudos on your thinking cougar, but apparently it's not modeled in the sim, at least there's no description in the manual. On some aircraft it's prohibited since there's not enough pressure from the APU to heat wing surfaces sufficiently. But I dont know about helos.

After clearing the high hills in "over the top" mission, descended into the valley, waited for the all clear after SEAD and A2A clearing. Setup my flight in Combat spread. A volley of missiles and cannon quickly made mince meat of the two poor Mi-24's that tried to help their sitting duck armour. This was the after effect:

Personally, instead of putting a time constraint on ED, Id just like to see a thorough patch polishing up a great simulation.

In any aviation environment, reviewing a system is known as a Check, i.e. Checklist, Flight Control Check,etc... its part of the aviation dialogue To watch something as defined in Webster's Dictionary: a: to be attentive or vigilant Whereas to Check something is according to Webster's : standard for testing and evaluation With EKRAN, arent we evaluating the alert just generated and not a prolonged attentiveness to it ( makes it seem like a much longer evaluation )

. My point is not the literal translation which sometimes is not suitable, but a realistic cockpit interactive that serves the simulation best. Checking a system is what we're doing, not staring at it or watching it.

In the upcoming patch, I believe the "Watch EKRAN" audible warning should be changed to "Check EKRAN" as this is more inline with checking a system warning rather than "Watch" it. Anyone else feel this more appropriate? Or rename the whole thing to Svetlana and just keep "Watch Svetlana" all the time.

It's about time that a designer has released an exceptional simulation with the level of detail that DCS has. A definite 98% in every aspect. Love the 6DOF cockpit ! As previously mentioned I would like to see some serious AI reaction to being attacked, instead of staying in place and getting pounded in the open with no defensive maneuvering or dynamic terrain masking whatsoever.

CB's in this sim? I can barely hover land in calm winds, I wouldnt dare think introducing swirly wind shear winds into the picture !

Braden, Im with you dude, I think the immersion is second to none. Having a Flight lead speak in Russian with Russian instruments in the cockpit, makes you think you're in a Russian helo unit. That's immersion. If someone cant divest the time to learn that about the greatest and most detailed sim to date, then they 1. Cant learn the material, 2. Probably fly it in arcade mode anyway
