I was 1/2 months without playing DCS, did all the updates and all of a sudden I get +5 minutes just to get to the main menu. Did repair, cleaned the files. Did a rollback on the NVIDIA drivers. Same thing. also flying around Kola in an F-4 is a stutter mess. my system is Q3 VR, 7800X3D 4090 64gb ram NVME -
Slugmouse - a mouse button emulator for hand-tracked cockpit clicking.
t-stoff replied to slughead's topic in Virtual Reality
hey! are you uk based? just to check because customs and stuff. I'm considering it even if I've built sort of a cockpit; mfds, control boxes and stuff. I still think there's probably room for hand tracking (inserting coordinates) and using it on more analog planes. thanks!- 348 replies

But its a lot more "clear" in flat screen, right? Or at least it seems (I have my monitor right by my sim/VR). I'm glad you guys are working on that! thanks!:)

I've tried to get a pic with my phone but its kinda hard. But its easy to "imagine". Mariana Quick Mission DME Arc with the F-4. Everything is gray (due to bad weather), the front windwshield/"HUD" is black/tinted and you can only see the gunsight. Now, if you get above clouds you can get some contrast and contours but it is still much darker than the rest of the glassed parts of the cockpit/canopy. When you're on final you cant see the runway lights. This with 2.2 gamma.

wow. I think I found someone with the same problem as me. In the first few days I only flew during the day, but in nevada sometimes at dusk the front windshield/"hud" would get so dark like it was tinted you couldnt see a thing. But in the Marianas quick mission (ILS approach) its virtual impossible to see anything. If I take my VR out and look at the screen is clear as it should.

Makes sense. I'm using AV1 10bits but no snapdragon and I disabled the color vibrance to try solve this issue, gonna put in on and test it again! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! So in a way that's kind of a relief I'm not getting crazy, even though its weird it took me this long to figure it out how its called! I'm sure (well, I think) I don't recall seeing it on my Reverb G1.

I've noticed when I'm over the water or in bad weather on my VR headset (not in the duplicate screen) I see these "concentric" lines (like surface lines) that kills immersion and depth. I've tried to mess around with contrast brightness, getting it darker it highlights it more, brighter helps but you can only use so much of it. If I go down low the disappear. I'm using Virtual Desktop + OPENXR and I've disable/enabled the Color Vibrance and nominal range with no effect. Also in the F4 the windshield/HUD is black in the weather (might not be related, but I noticed yesterday while grabbing screens). I've searched but couldnt find anyone with something like this - or maybe I use the wrong terms. Setup is: QUEST 3, Virtual Desktop (no ASW), OpenXR Turbo mode, 4090 7800x3D, 64gb ram, NVME. Thanks!!

is there a way to put it on by default?

yeap did it as an admin. I clicked in both slots (after it failed to work on the first attempt) checked the folder is right one thats why I said there's little room for getting it wrong. its weird. not sure if its worth reinstalling or just waiting thanks for the replies guys! -

Couldnt get it to work with the workaroud, weird! not there's much room for getting it wrong. not sure whats happening. -
yeah I know. but its not that strange that there isnt a common experience from a different DCS users, its like random most of the time. I saved a pic from someone reddit? maybe, that is what it looks like some of what I experience (note the vertical line on the right mfd). but its usually worst. sometimes the line creates waves like an oscilloscope would do.

Thoughts on the last couple of days: From all my experiments DLSS must be off because I always get MFDs with this weird like low refresh "wave" on the lines. Or just wavy artifacts if I increase/decrease quality, be it in PD or via sharpening. With balanced or performance I can have a reprojection free game but the overall quality is horrendous -> I get it, it can help a lot of people with previous poor performance. DLAA is here to replace MSAA! It solved most of the existent shimmering on rough edges be it instruments or scenario (maybe even in the clouds?) - sometimes it looked like it was blinking, not anymore. I get the idea of not using reprojection but for some reason (maybe cpu/gpu bound?) I cant get the frames to pair and have a smooth over the 90hz refresh rate experience, most noticeable is when I move my head around the cockpit or when banking. Its like a micro lag/drag kinda feel. This with FPS in 70s ish so not good enough. Any idea what to do with the SSS shadow thing? Whats the combination of shadows to use? Specs: HP Reverb G1 3090ti DDR4 64 gb NVME hd i5 10600k
