  1. If you want to see the Vulkan api in action, check out Aerofly FS2. I stopped playing it for a while because of stuttering, then I heard they added a beta branch with the Vulkan api and my performance with it improved over 3x. Incredible fps now and buttery smooth on highest settings. It's amazing and runs great both in VR and when played on a monitor. BUT that being said, DCS World is way more intensive with so much going on behind the scenes, so it'll be interesting how well it can be implemented.
  2. Brian, That's an amazing story and thank you for sharing. I hope it all works out well for you. Keep your chin up! Cheers.
  3. Just tried it out and... WOW! This mod is OUTSTANDING - a perfect 10! Thanks to you, Kojdog, and Kegety for putting it all in place. I see a major improvement on all my terrains of about 30 to 40 fps in the regular game and I intended to do a quick VR check with my Oculus and then I was going to comment. Here it is 3 hours later and I'm now commenting, becausing it is AWESOME! I feel as if I just installed a new graphics card. I couldn't get enough of simply zooming all over the Persian Gulf map in the F-5N at 800 kts down on the deck. I'd then pull up and see how high I could take her... 47,000 ft and I must say - the Earth is ROUND! It is so beautiful in DCS! Dark blue/black sky and the atmospheric effect is just a sight to behold. I'm getting a solid 45 fps and it's smooth with a like 98% of the time which is GREAT. I was even able to crank up my PPD up to 2.0 with quite a few stutters - but at 1.7 is smooth. For everyday use though I put at at 1.5 because I'll be having more going on in the missions. Most settings are on medium with 2x MSAA and 16x Anisotropic filtering. So yeah, you could say I'm extremely grateful to you guys who came up with this awesome mod. I'm having the best simming/VR experience of my life. Thanks! As Highwayman-Ed said earlier, 0.600f is great with the Oculus.
  4. Hey DanielNL, POH = Pilot's Operating Handbook
  5. Adjust your Anisotropic filtering - try 8x or 16x and go with what looks nicer. That should help!
  6. I'm in agreement with the OP. I did some work and gave myself smoking AMRAAMs and Sidewinders. I'm much happier now as it was driving me nuts not to be able to enjoy the beauty of this sim with such frequently used missiles from the F-15C. I fly offline so it's not affecting anything in the online world. I know this will piss off lots of people who want their sims totally REAL - but hey, I'm having a blast and do this for my own enjoyment. If anyone wants a copy of what I did, PM me.
  7. Ok. Good to know! Thanks. Btw, I went ahead and added smoke trails to these missiles and it's glorious. I've been modding games since the early 90's and figured it out. It may not be realistic but it's a joy to behold! PM me if you want a copy of my mod.
  8. Just a quick note, the missile trails work fine from a test I just flew with the MiG-29S. Just the ones mentioned above aren't showing trails.
  9. Hi guys, I've recently started flying DCS World 2.5 lately and noticed that in dogfights, I can see smoke trails from my wingmen and enemy jets, but for my own jet I can only see smoke from larger missiles like the Phoenix when flying the VSM F-14A. The Sidewinders and Sparrows don't show any smoke when launched from my plane. No go with the F-15C either (FC3 installed). I installed the release version last week, and today I installed the beta to see if that would work - but to no avail. I've searched for help for about 2 days now and can't find it anywhere. I'm running on Win10 (x64), i7-3770K with 16GB ram, Nvidia GTX 1070 with latest drivers, two 1TB Samsung Evo 860 SSDs, and running moderate to high settings and get generally about 60fps. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
