  1. Hi All, I am practising Case I landings, and whilst I am able to get it onto the boat, I am pretty sure my procedures (and thus landings) are crap! I have attached a trackfile where I tried to reproduce - with no luck- an issue I had initially (and reported in the Bugs sesction). However, I encountered an issue I most often have and that is due to my poor skills and lack of training. I turn onto the downwing leg, whilst extending flaps and landing gears and establish myself on downwind, trimming my plane to on-speed AoA (or so I think?). However, my plane starts to sink like it's Titanic!:helpsmilie: I have to maintain quite a lot of speed (150-160 kts which makes it hard to trim to on-speed AoA) just to stay on my altitude and descend slowly down to 600ft before turning onto final approach. Bear with me on the track, I bolted twice before I managed to put her onto the boat. But the issue I describe I encountered on the last lap around 29 minutes or so into the flight. Would anyone mind having a look and help me fix all the things I (presumably) do wrong? Sorry about not having headtracking (which obviously does not help things), it's on the to-get list (getting VR at some point). Case I Landing.trk
  2. Thanks both for the inputs! I actually did some laps around the boat tonight to try and reproduce the issue, but was unable to. So I’m rather hesitant to call it out as a bug and more tempted to say it’s something I did wrong, although I do not see why the VVI would be stuck on the right edge of the HUD (I think I even saw it duplicated at some point). Most likely my inexperience and incorrect procedure rather than a bug. I’ll try again tomorrow with a couple of hours around the boat to see if I can reproduce this one again. Again, really appreciate the inputs and suggestions. This forum is awesome as always!
  3. Carrier touch and go - Weird HUD and in-flight behaviour I’ll try to reproduce it tonight and save a track of it plus some screenshots, I of course forgot doing that yesterday. But if I read you correctly, I have not screwed up the trim or anything like that?
  4. Hi All, Apologies if there is already a thread about this, please feel free to re-direct me there if it is. I have just recently started learning Case I on Stennis, after having practiced patterns and landings on shore. Man alive, is this thing harder to fly than the Hawg or what! Anyway; Yesterday I practiced landings on the carrier, to which I flew the pattern, followed procedures as per the practice mission, got trimmed and flew on-speed AoA and put the ****er on the boat. Happy chap! Decided to re-configure and hook up to the catapult; Stab trim to 16° (30k lbs TOW), Flaps Half ++, MIL power and off we go! All good and well, I take a right turn, shallow turn to come in for an overhead pass to fly the pattern again, so as to land again. Holy shieeeet, establish myself on downwind and trying to get to on-speed AoA but my E bracket is nowhere to be seen?? The AoA indexer seems to work as normal, but my VVI is squeezed on the right side of the HUD, the E bracket is outside the upper boundary of the HUD and I’m flying blind. Relying on the AoA indexer only makes you feel like you’re on your heels on a football game, hard to anticipate the next throttle movement or trim adjustment needed. My question is: Where the heck did my E bracket and VVI go?? I cage the f*cker one the overhead pass, I uncage it once established on-speed AoA and works just fine. On my second lap around the boat however, I do the same thing, but makes no difference: The E bracket and VVI are gone nevertheless.
  5. Know the locations of the SAMs in advance by proper mission prep and study of the map in the Mission Planner. Plan your entrance to the AO, use SEAD actively and be patient. Hang around, do what you can outside their range, refuel from the tanker and go back in when the F-16s are done.
  6. I am currently training on the Hornet, and we’re talking 3-4 hours in it so far, i.e. nothing! One question I have though is if there is a landing strip available in any of the maps that resembles the carrier strip? In real life we see pilots training on these at shore, and I figured it would be better to start at shore to practice CASE I before I actually head out to the ship.
  7. I'm in the same position as you, looking to get an HMD for the first time. I have decided to wait out the teething issues on the high-quality sets like Reverb and Index. A bonus might be to wait until October/November once these issues have been resolved (hopefully) and they might come on pre-Christmas sale. I.e. they've been subject to better quality-checks and will be cheaper (again; hopefully).
  8. What imacken said. Soooo many VR users on here, reddit ++ who says DCS in VR is amazing means your bad experience is likely due to incorrect settings, your eyes being impaired etc where you should optimise, use extra lenses for your eyes or something. Your experience is clearly an extreme outlier, so I would recommend to troubleshoot tenfold before saying it’s not playable.
  9. The interesting thing about your S9+ attempt there Secoda, is that it is demonstrating very well what I believe people refer to as the blurriness if the IPD is incorrectly adjusted? WOuld you say that's correct, Hansangb? Cause the center field is very sharp, but the edges are very much blurry. Or is it due to something else?
  10. Interestingly... we've had the VR Optimization since May Hi Hansangb, Glad to hear it was a positive experience for you! Would you mind writing a post about your experience etc? I’m waiting for reviews on the Index, and will try to get a fair bit of feedback and impressions before I make a decision on which HMD to go for, for possibly to look for good deals in the pre-Christmas sales. By then, there should’ve been a lot of teething issues and enhancements taken place. The waiting time though!! :( EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw your post in the Reverb thread. :) Thanks!!
  11. +1. The mounts are awesome, proper quality with solid materials. Cannot recommend them enough. Issues with orders happen from time to time, it is inevitable. Being unfortunate enough to experience it is pure bad luck, nothing wrong with the company in my opinion.
  12. I experienced the issue again after having solved it. I followed recipe for fixing it again, and it solved the problem, so I can confirm what the guys advised us to do should work. Must be something with the shaders that is causing this issue.
  13. There you go, exactly what I was hoping for personally! I have no clue about VR, but I have to say I too raised an eyebrow hearing him talk about playing with 20-30 fps, I mean; how is that an enjoyable experience? Thanks for the elaboration!
  14. What Milou said. Generally I would recommend arguing against others with relevant arguments based on (preferably observable) facts, rather than "attacking" others claiming they spread false information without backing up your claims. At the very least argue why you think it is false information. What you wrote has no credibility in its current form, nor is it constructive.
  15. Maybe the Moon? :D "Luke, I am your father"...
  16. HALLELUJAH! I read this in bed last night, got up today before work and decided to go through the process again and delete the metacaches as well. Went into a quick flight, delivered a GBU-12 on target and it's fixed! :D You guys are rockstars, thank you very much!
  17. Thanks so much, both! Unfortunately it did not fix the issue on my end. Not sure if it matters, but I am still on the 2.5.4 build, so might be why. No idea.
  18. Hi lahsoldier, Can you clarify precisely what you did in sequential steps? I think the FXO thread is rather unclear.
  19. Ouch [emoji23] Savage, love it! I guess the Reverb, given it being an enterprise solution without a physical IPD adjustment, it may even be designed to do well across a wider range of IPDs than what e.g. Rift S and Index may? I have no idea how this works, hence my 101 questions! But if it is truly that great as we seem to get reports about, I might have to change my mind about probably going for the Index and jump on the Reverb wagon.
  20. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Hilarious. @Wags: Can you please have someone in the team with IPD closer to 65 try it (if any of them do) and see if the team experience any other issue due to the lack of IPD adjustment?
  21. But is it such a massive difference in performance? I have not tried VR yet, but what sort of framerates are we talking about here for the DCS users on this forum in general? I mean, I can run DCS on my rig with 60fps pretty much at all times after having tweaked some graphics, enabling AA etc in Nvidia Profile Inspector and reducing equivalent settings in DCS itself, all of this on top of having increased loading radius etc beyond DCS standard extreme settings through modifying some .luas. Is this the basis for the performance discussions here where transitioning from 2D to VR literally cuts the performance by more than 50%, just because of the 2D-VR difference itself?
  22. How do you revert back to the last version without it? Can you choose the version in the Updater-tool?
  23. Has anyone actually fund a workaround to this issue? Or are you playing whilst putting up with it?
  24. Hi, In Mission Planner for the mission you are about to fly, choose your aircraft to select loadout, right-click on the station and under Bombs/Missiles/Pods/whatever, it gives you all the options possible for that station. If possible to use three, it will say e.g. 3x GBU-12 or 3x AGM-65D. Note this is not possible on every station.
  25. Hi Nealius, would you mind testing yours in the Caucasus map? I read in the DCS World General Questions MAV thread that you had deleted two folders and tweaked some graphic settings only to find the problem disappearing, so would be interesting to see if this fixes the issue. I experience this on the Caucasus map (does not have any other maps at the moment).
