  1. Nope. I (the person who owns ASC) have never posted that picture anywhere previously…
  2. Actually the latest ASC WIP Media is the one I posted in my reply to this user, directly above your reply.
  3. You are not making the compelling argument you think that you are making.
  4. Do you still think the project is dead, though?
  5. I'm sorry that you feel this way. As others have written, the project is very much not "dead", and is instead nearing completion. Amongst the things we've shown: an entirely new external 3d model, functional airdrop (in the 2025 and beyond video), a moab, functional AG radar, pilot models... probably other things I am forgetting. And yes, a tiny clip showing a neat physics based spring effect on the trim and flap indicators when battery power is applied. Short of a full release trailer, what else would you like to see as evidence that the project is alive?
  6. We never included waypoint integration with the nav-radar display, if thats what you are asking about.
  7. @BIGNEWYcan you clarify the status of the bug you reported in February of 2020? Your comment from April of that same year suggests that maybe this is no longer considered a problem, and is just “different” in vr. Is this slated to be fixed?
  8. What makes you all think that?!?!
  9. @LightningF6 Download link here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/8uak6lar9hyswfs/Hercules_ver_6.8.1.zip/file
  10. yea, we've tracked down the rest. we pulled out a bunch of half baked functionality from that module, which is what lead to this.
  11. Re: nav radar bug: Good catch. We will fix this in the next minor release. Thanks. Regarding exploding Hercules: 6.6 no longer works. You must update to 6.7. If you do, your plane will not explode.
  12. Sure, and I sort of understand that position. But to clarify (and correct me if I am wrong) many of the larger skyscrapers/unique (non religious) buildings in Beirut seem to not be destructible. Either A) am I wrong?, or B) is there a plan to add damage models to these?
  13. @MAESTR0 any news regarding damaged/destroyed models for any of these unique objects?
  14. I have the same question. While there are many beautiful and unique structures on the Syria map, it's difficult to use them effectively in a mission context without any damage/destruction model. Is there a plan to add such models for the more unique landmarks (palaces, skyscrapers, airport terminals, etc)?
  15. @AeroGator Will the switches/buttons on these be the same as the current MCG?
  16. As @Eight Ball mentioned above, version 5.8 includes my fix for steam sounds. If anyone has issues, please either ping me here or on discord (username there is someone_somewhere).
  17. @Gman109 Mine arrived today as well, and I have immediately been reminded how much I loath windows mixed reality, relative to the experience of SteamVR with the Index. I may need to configure things differently, but my perception is that the motion smoothing algorithm in WMR is absolute trash compared to steam. I can tell if it's poor head tracking, or the worse motion smoothing, but playing DCS in the G2 is much much less smooth an the INdex Are you finding it different? Mine is running on a 9900ks@5.1 + 3090, so I don't think its a hardware issue.
  18. signal boost ... @BIGNEWY/@Nineline, have you had a chance to discuss this with the team?
  19. This is fascinating... TLDR: The airflow around the tpod, especially when mounted on the chin station, produces a shockwave effect approaching mach 1. This interacts with the tail fins of precision munitions, and disrupts their release trajectory.
  20. Good to see that you've gotten back on the horse, Aurelius.
  21. @Aurelius What is happening? A showdown in the streets? I am so confused.
  22. Wow. Big night for @Aurelius.... I think the evidence speaks for itself, but just to drive the point home: this is not the way that professors of engineering, media lab directors, authors, or even adults conduct themselves in the face of criticism. @dburne Perhaps so, although hopefully my very long post re: neural networks and software development generally was of some interest. In a world full of internet charlatans where facts no longer matter, if even a single person read this thread and now sees this guy for who he really is, then it's been worth it. Although I cant lie, I did enjoy it :). We probably ought to give this thread a rest.
  23. To those following along: do you find the above compelling?
  24. @Dirt_Merchant 100% agree that there are instances where the open source software has produced less than desirable outcomes (although I do think that net-net, it has been an extremely good thing). My only point here was just to describe the world as it is, and to point out that the manner in which @Aurelius was discussing software development deviated so far from normal practice as to not be plausible. It's also likely that a reasonable persons view on such things will vary with the area of software in which they work. At least in my field, the open source tools that we use (neural network primitives/linear algebra libraries) have probably a smaller impact on the issues you raise. I'd expect that, in a different field where the software in question is closer to product. my statement would be much less true. At the same time, having just written the preceding paragraph, ML enabled social control tools in China might provide a good counterargument... :).
