  1. The range of taws in this screenshot is 80nm. So, there is definitely some yellow/red in front of him, but its very small and close to the plane. If the range was set to a smaller value, you'd see it much more clearly.
  2. I see. I do not own a leap motion device, nor do I know what changes would be required to deliver a good experience. However, I will: a) buy one, and b) investigate further.
  3. Can you clarify what you mean by this? I was under the impression that DCS supported leap natively, and that developers didnt need to do anything special for it.
  4. Yes. That is why in my response, which you quote here, I write that "As others have mentioned, the planes in these videos are C-130H variants".
  5. I don't know what to tell you, other than that they are absolutely from a real C-130J... we recorded them over the course of 2 days after getting approval from the USAF. As others have mentioned, the planes in these videos are C-130H variants, which sound very different. I would also caution against using videos recorded using cellphone microphones as a point of comparison against what the actual airplane sounds like.
  6. I dont think that the walking pilot animation would have been good enough. Also, the pilot feature here involves other actions, like opening doors, jumping/crouching, or shooting an M4. You will notice that, in multiplayer, you cannot see the "walking ejected pilot" of other players. That is purely a client side thing. Re VR/missing pilot body being noticeable: that's because your legs are straight out in front of you, directly in the field of view. The same isnt true when walking around with your arms at your side. In any event: I'd like to implement a better walking animation and drive it through this feature, and I might even do it. But I want to be fully transparent about what the feature does today, and what you should expect on release.
  7. Yes, that exact thing is an option. There is also a setting which automatically enables/disables ground range based on roughly whether or not allowing it will cause you to crash or not (ie: right after touchdown before the wheels are settled). These things are all optional.
  8. Other players wont see you. The update rate for multiplayer sync is not fast enough to make it look reasonable. I havent spent the time to get the body to execute a compelling walking animation for your own player yet either. I maybe will try, but its not very simple. For what its worth, none of our testers have ever commented on the "missing" body. You just dont really notice.
  9. I'm sure that I understand the question. The honeycomb bravo throttle works great, just like any other usb device in dcs.
  10. It was a considerable amount of work to implement. The main challenge is collision: how to avoid the player clipping through walls, the ground, or the interior of the cargo bay. I'm sure that ED has plans for their own feature of this type, but this version is distinct to the ASC C-130.
  11. We're trying to make mid October. That might slip to November. I'll be shocked if its any later than that.
  12. It will be able to drop vehicles on release.
  13. The radar does have a weather mode, but its mostly used for A/G / low level flight. The weather radar is actually one of the very few things in the plane that isnt modeled, but the DCS weather system at the moment just isn't fleshed out enough to make it a good experience. You wouldn't like what you saw on the display...
  14. I have some reason to believe that a video will be arriving within the next 12 or so hours.
  15. The C-130 in some ways is a giant flight planning machine, so to use a tool like that would be missing out on alot of the experience. But, yes, it should work by default with it.
  16. Regarding your preference for an earlier version of the Herc, I regret to inform you that if i had made such an aircraft, you would have been unable to operate it either a) without a full crew of humans b) within the next 5 years, as that's how long it would have taken me to implement a sufficiently advanced ai crew system to support you
  17. I too, am curious.
  18. That’s crazy
  19. Your characterization here is not accurate.
  20. I think all the questions have been answered.
  21. Maybe. Not soon
  22. JPADS is a more complicated topic, and isnt planned for the moment. However, its not used very frequently because you can get, in most situations, as close as you need with a normal carp solution. Of course things like weather affect the ballistics, and all of these factors are accounted for in the cni carp solution, as in the real plane. Regarding whether the points are "relayed to the hud", yes, of course. This is a full fidelity module, so in general, if a real c-130 does something, this (virtual) one does too. Two stage airdrops exist also.
  23. Of course we have the red and green lights. They just had not been connected at the time of the trailer. But they are now integrated.
  24. Yes, the current system for troops should work.
  25. You are correct. We just meant that the missions are very dynamic and exciting.
