Been away from DCS for the last year and want to get back to flying in some of the MP servers, Used to have a great time moving mud in some of them. My question is, Steam is showing multiple open betas, one say "open public beta" and another says "open beta 2.7.0.5659 DCS version". Which one would I download? Also, is there any way to have the regular version and the open beta installed with Steam? I used to go back and forth at times, but it's a real pain reloading MP versions, not to mention wear and tear on the SSD.

Crashing on startup and yaw dampers completely glitched
Auger replied to TheEmeraldSkills's topic in Bugs and Problems
Have the Yaw issue as well since the last update. -
I'd also be interested in flying the A-4 with others. It's one of my favorite planes.

VKB T-Rudder Mark IV all the way. Small profile, built to last a couple lifetimes, and very precise. Good rubber feet on the bottom, and since you don't swing them, they don't need a lot of room under the desk. Haven't missed toe brakes, since I map that to a stick lever.

Enjoy flying on your server, but for some reason it's no longer listed in the publicbeta server list. I'm going through Steam btw. If i opt out of beta and reload DCS (about 15 minutes through Steam) 7cav server shows up. I'd prefer to stay with the openbeta server list as there are more populated servers. So am I missing something, or has 7cav left openbeta? It's a shame Steam wont let you bring up each server list without having to go through a 15min download.

I have a T-50 CM2 stick and use the POV hat for viewing. It can be a bit too fast/twitchy depending on the zoom. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity? Aside from calibrating my stick with the Virpil software I've done all my control setups within DCS so I'm not very familiar with the Virpil software .

Carry over control setup to new PC?
Auger replied to Auger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks, I will just re-assign my inputs and be glad I'm not flying a dozen different aircraft. -
New computer is on the way and I'll be glad to retire this 10 yo PC. It will be nice to get into a MP or SP game without having to wait 5 minutes for everything to load up. :) The only thing I have configured on my HOTAS is the A10A and the F5E but I'm wondering if there is a way to carry over my HOTAS configuration to the new PC or do I need setup everything again? Is it just a matter of copying over a few files? And if so, which file will I need? Thanks

All my pieces have arrived and I'm ready to move from my X52Pro (with VKB pedals) HOTAS to a TM Warthog Throttle, Virpil T-50CM2 stick (Warbird base) and VKB pedals. I'm planning to do my button/axis setup within DCS. Is there a particular order I should be connecting these devices? Do I calibrate these devices in the own software, eg Target for the TMWH, VPC Configuator for the T-50 or let Windows handle the calibration? Not sure how to proceed, and don't want to start conflicts between different brand devices and Windows. Any help, greatly appreciated.

Thank to those recommending the F5. Decided to get both the A10C and the F5. Haven't started studying the A10C yet, but I've been working with the F5. What a blast! Love me some GBU12 laser guided bombs. Zoom and BOOM! Good fun. I'm on the bottom rung when it comes to A2A though. I've got a long way to go till I learn how to dogfight a Mig29 and stand any chance.

At present I'm using an X52Pro HOTAS and the HOTAS software. This enables me to set 3 modes on the stick and throttle. I currently have Mode 3 setup for Cold Start, Mode 2 for Take Off and Landing, and Mode 1 for Flight and Weapons. Each Mode allows for each button to do something different from Mode to Mode. I have a Virpil Stick and Warthog Throttle on the way and I realize I will have to use the DCS controller settings, but is there any way to have a mode selection like I do with the X52Pro? And if so, how do I go about it... or is that the reason I need eleventy hundred buttons and hats on a HOTAS? :helpsmilie: Thanks

Thanks for this Knock. I just bought the F5E and have started on working on cold start and take off. Was doing great until in the air, at approx 500kts the plane starts to shimmy and the screen goes black, but its not a fade to black, it's just a sudden black screen. Thought I was having video card problems at first. Decided to check the forums and found this thread. Thanks again

Ordered the Warbird base and CM2 stick today. Got conformation within a few minutes of PayPal receipt.

Thank you for that info. Just ordered the T50CM2 grip and Warbird base. Also ordering the TM WH throttle and a Monstertech stand. My simple flying rig will be complete.

Art, does the TM throttle and T50 combo work well together? I've heard that the TM throttle is worth getting and I plan on getting one, but I'm still undecided about the stick. So far I have the VKB rudder pedals and am using the X52 Pro. Was going to wait on a VKB stick but plans may have changed. Now I'm considering the TM WH throttle, TM50 stick with Warbird base (or TM WH stick on WB base) to go with my VKB pedals, but I'm concerned that all these different manufacturers devices may not play well together.... or is it a non issue? Will everything program seamlessly in the DCS adjust controls, or could I use something like Joystick Gremllin without a bunch of compability issues? Thanks..... looking forward to getting out of the X52 HOTAS and into something more precise.

I'm considering getting a TM Warthog hotas and mounting the TM stick on the Warbird base. Any downsides with this combo? As I understand it, if I wanted to learn and use Target software, I could with this combo?
-
Wow.... just WOW! I've been following these forums and the VKB/VIRPIL forums daily since late February. I've been waiting to buy a VKB Gunfighter MCGPRO, and the throttle if it ever comes out. I have the VKB pedals and they're built like a tank..... but I have to say, I'm shocked by the lack of customer support on a product that carries a premium price. I'm starting to rethink my purchase plans, plan B was a TM Warthog HOTAS with a VIRPIL Warbird base. More costly in the long run but there is a ton of community support for TM and VIRPIL is at least responsive to their customers.

Thanks for the input. Considering how much enjoyment I get out of the A10A, I decided to put some effort in to learning the A10C. Just something about the Hawg that always puts a smile on my face.

Fairly new to the DCS world but I'm finding I enjoy mud moving and SEAD missions over dogfighting. My favorite planes so far are the A10A, SU25T and the A-4E-C. I really enjoy flying the A-4 but not many servers have it. I'm wanting to get a plane with a HF cockpit, but I think the A10C may be a bit to advanced at this time. Would the F-5 be a good fit for someone who likes to primarily move mud with a little A2A on the side? Thanks
-
I've flown some really fun sorties on your server, there are enough ground targets to keep a mud mover like me busy and happy. It's also great that the targets are Easy, Medium and Hard. A few nights ago I had the best flight of my short time in DCS. Took an A10A and warmed up with the Easy targets and worked my way up to a Sam site flying NOE. Took him out, got a couple shots off on a Mig29 and then dove between two mountain ranges back to base. He got a shot off and had me smoking, but I managed to land. Damn good fun for a noob like me.

Congrats. Just getting into DCS and glad to see there are other geezers on here. lol
-
I have to wonder why anyone would not want the A-4. So much fun to fly and it packs a punch, but the best part is, it's FREE. I'm really surprised it's not more popular, but then I'm pretty new to DCS. Luckily I've found a couple non PW servers that have them.
-
Would like to see more servers with the A-4. It's a fun plane to fly, especially for a new or casual flyer. It's my first clickable jet and I don't find the work load of flying it and attacking ground targets to be overwhelming. Just the right amount of fun/work... for now.

NOW AVAILABLE: Community A-4E-C Mod
Auger replied to Merker's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I'm fairly new to DCS. I've bought the WWII planes, FC3 and the KA-50, but man am I loving the Scooter. A big thanks to the developers for putting out this great plane. -
Says... "This item will be released February 22, 2022." What?????
