  1. It would be possible just the skins, without playable cockpit? How could I add to the sim only the skins for the F-4E? . Also, more detailled instructions for the installation of the mod would be great. I have copied the "bin" of "FC2" into the folder F-4E, but I can´t make the mod work. Where exactly have I to copy the F-4E folder? Thanks in advance
  2. Probably this is a question that a lot of people wonder for a long time, and I don´t know if has been officially responded: Why the Caucasus Maps doesn´t includes Crimea? Crimea was the main scenery in Flanker 2 and Lock On, so I assume that ED already has the satellite data and the meshes of that territory and it would be just neccesary to update the textures and the static objects to include it in the map of Caucasus, so... Why is not Crimea in that map? I assume there are technical reasons, but I would like to know, if someone knows the exact reasons for that. Thanks in advance.
  3. It´s suppose that RWY 03R/21L in Nellis AFB is equipped with High Intensity Runway Lights (HIRL), Approach Lighting System with Sequenced Flashing Lights Category 1 (ALSF-1), and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) System and RWY 03L/21R is equipped with HIRL and PAPI, but I can´t see PAPI lights at day or night in any of the runways, and can´t see ALSF-1 lights in runway 03R/21L. Also, it seems that the arresting system doesn´t work, or I´m not able to catch the wire... Are PAPI and ALSF-1 lights and arresting system WIP after all these years? Is some kind of bug in my system or something? Those lights are a pretty important part of any airfield and I think it would be a priority in case it is WIP since NTTR is no more a beta. Also, the arresting system is not as important as the lights, but it adds a lot of realism and inmersion to an airfiel. PD. I have seen a video in YT where you can see the PAPI lights working in Nellis, at least in RWY 21R, and others videos where you can´t see them at all... so, I don´t know what to think. It's something that works in some updates and stops working in others, or something?
  4. Well, I didn´t know. That´s good news.
  5. If I would have to choose a cold war attack plane that there´s no plans in including in DCS righ now, I would say A-7 Corsair. Able to operate both from carriers and airfields, a lot of payload including Shrike and HARMs, Walleye TV guided bombs and Laser Guided bombs, excelent avionics for its era, and not a brick in dogfight with sidewinders and guns. If I have to choose a fighter, I would say the F-8 Crusader.
  6. The F-111 in service never had an A-A radar and never was capable of using the AIM-54... I think you are thinking in the Tomcat... :music_whistling:
  7. Right now all the sceneries for DCS are actually pretty small. I don´t know why people is asking for long-range bombers, or any other long range plane. F-111 and Tornados are not even CAS planes that should be patroling for a long time, as the A-10 or the F/A-18, is a plane that was designed for going from point A to point B hundreds of miles inside enemy territory at low level, drop some bombs over one single target, and return running away from fighters and using ECM and chaff against SAMs. A type of mission pretty limited for a simulator, IMO, and not really good for a small scenery. I prefer planes with a wider range of possible missions.
  8. +1. I hope this product has not been avandoned as it is, and the devs will continue improving it and fixing bugs and problems.
  9. Creating a good curve of response of the axes of the joystick also helps A LOT to maintain the plane controlled in straight and at level flight.
  10. I have created a mission with the editor in which some F-5E intercept a huge formation of Tu-22M. If I use the radar to lock a Tu-22M, the gun of the tail shoots me, but if I maintain the radar OFF, I can fly in formation with the bombers even with all the external lights ON and leaving a trail of a mile behind me, can shoot them with my cannon (or even rockets) at point blank, and the Tu-22M doesn´t defends itself. It doesn´t look a realistic behavior since as far as I know the Tu-22M has a radar in the tail to detect attackers from the rear emisphere. I thought the reason could be the rules of engagement but I have experienced with the different reactions to threat, from "no reaction" to "allow to abort the mission" and there is no difference: the Tu-22M only shoots the tail guns against attackers if the attackes use the radar to lock on the target.
  11. You should provide more information (speed, altitud, payload, configuration of the axes of the joystick, trim sets, etc.) At +40.000 ft. and +1 Mach, my F-5E flies like a charm without external payload.
  12. ¿Nevada -2º, o -12º?
  14. Most of us aren't meteorologists and don´t know the weather that usually we can expect in Caucasus, Nevada or the Persian Gulf during the different months. It would be great some more realistic weather themes for every season in every scenery for the scenery editor, not just "fair time", "rain", "snow" (not really realistic the last two ones in Nevada and Persian Gulf, I guess...) A couple or three realistic themes more for every season would be great
  18. I saw this keyboar for FSX and I though "I can make one of this by myself for DCS with my printer". I select one of the buttons of the HOTAS as "modifier" (one of the triggers, but can be any button) and asign one key of the keyboard as "increment" of any rotatory, an the same key + the trigger as "decrement" of the same rotatory. This way I can map in the keyboard and the HOTAS abou 90% of the commands of the F-5E. You can´t do that with all the planes because you need a lot of keyboards, but it´s a good idea with your favorite plane. About my problem, after running the repair and get nothing, I have unistalled and reinstalled DCS, the "Open Beta" version this time, and it works fine now.
  19. I sincerely apologize. English is my second language and probably I misunderstood you. I thought that you wasn't trying to help, but to start one of those byzantine discussions about "Why you do this your way? Do that my way" There are quite a lot of them in this forum. Thank you very much for the information. I´m trying to do an ultra cheap "cockpit" of the F-5 just labeling an old keyboard with the rotatories and the most important switches and that specific panel of lights of the right console is the only one doesn´t work, and since you say it´s not a general bug, I don´t know what is hapening. I suppose I have to do more tests.
  20. Are you really asking why people could prefer to map the increment of a rotatory knob as "P" instead of the default "Right AltGr + Right Control + P"? What are you going to ask next? Why I prefer to map the rotatories and don't use the mouse? I´m asking about a possible and particular bug. If you have information about that and want to help, thank you very much. If not, please, don´t change the subjet of this thread. Anyway, it doesn´t matter. The default mapping of the panel of the lights in the right console doesn´t work for me neither. The taxi and landing lights switch, outside that panel, can be mapped, but the one of the beacon, inside that panel, can´t be. I can map all of them in the buttons of the HOTAS however. Someone have the same problem?
  21. I´m trying to map the knobs of the lights (beacon, flood, warn test, formation, console, etc.) in the keyboard, but it seems they don´t work. I don´t have problems with other rotatory knobs mapped in the keyboard (radar range, radar mode, the ones of the UHF radio and TACAN, etc.) and I there are no problems with mapping the rotatory knobs of the lights in an axe of the hotas. Is it a bug? Other people have the same problem?
  22. As far as I know there is no functional arresting landing gear in the runways of the maps of Caucasus and Nevada, so arresting landing hooks of planes like the F-5E are useless right now. Is the arresting gear functional in the airfields of the Persian Gulf map?
  23. Are simulated the knobs of Cabin Temp, Cabin Press and Canopy Defog, or have any kind of funcionality in DCS World? I´m asking because I have never have to used them even changing the weather to winter fog, icing conditions, etc.
  24. Way better the F-5B modernized that some air forces use as trainer. Better performances and the posibility os using weapons as sidewinders, rockets and bombs.
  25. I have better things to do than spend time googling the specifications of the international users of the version F-5E-3, but I know that most of the international users of the F-5E Tiger II have modified the plane to have INS, ILS, 2 COM radios, inflight refueling and other improvements. And USAF, USMC and NAVY only used this version of the plane as trainer.
