The more I read about the OH-58 and see the development of this, I think I'm joining the gang of people who will be purchasing/preordering on day 1.

It would be quite odd as its broken not-so-randomly every time flying the same mission. Now I just leave the bugger turned off until I have the target in sight and click it off after a couple passes. But thanks for checking into this. I'm running a gunsight mod now to see if it alleviates the issue, and we'll go from there!

Yup, its still breaking for me. Oddly, its coming up as a failure in the flight logs, so its something happening inside the engine that says "the gunsight will break" though nothing happens outside of a normal flight regime besides power changes needing a quick adjustment of rudder trim...

This is why I'm really happy to still have my X-52. I have the starter power and clutch set to one of the toggles on the stick and so its actually quite immersive to hold that toggle up for 8-15 seconds and then whack it down to get the motor going. It still takes a couple tries, but I'm getting more proficient! one thing I love about probjobs is how simple they are. Sure you don't have to worry about prop pitch and mixture in jets but, really, make sure you're getting fuel, make sure you're pulling it from the right place, and crank the engine and off you go. I'm really loving the I-16 so far and I'm looking forward to flying it more!
