  1. So why does the 8800 have to communicate with the 6200? Why doesn't the 6200 just draw the SHVAL and ABRIS, and the 8800 draw the cockpit/terrain etc? Why is there even more slow-down when I plug two monitors into the 6200, and only one into the 8800? And if the 6200 is the bottleneck, then should I just go SLI, and use the ports from the extra 8800? So many questions....all I wanna do is shoot stuff...
  2. Nope. Using three monitors in all now. Left is the Touch Buddy screen from DD, Middle is the main view/cockpit, and right is the SHVAL. Not really rendiring that much more, and there really isn't more information to process, so just wondring why the drop in FPS? Whats strange is that if I plug the two monitors (SHVAL and ABRIS) into the GeForce 6200, the main screen (attached to the GeForce 8800 GTX) slows down even more. I would think that having the two monitors being rendered by the 6200, would free up processing power for the 8800, and should be smoother gameplay. I am aware that BS is CPU dependent, however the FPS is clearly being impacted by the new monitor, and/or graphics card setup.
  3. So I added a new touchscreen monitor-(have three in all now) to use DD's touch buddy profile (super cool), but my frame rate dropped significantly. Why would that occur, I don't think much more processing power is being used. I am using DCS max with 4 cores/Win 7/Nvidia GTX 8800/GeForce 6200 for third touch buddy monitor. I know that BS is bottlenecked at the CPU, but the FPS drop seems related to the addition graphics rendering (Touch Buddy etc.) What could I do to improve the FPS? New/better video card? Stop extra apps from running etc.
  4. Yup, I jumped from XP to the Win 7 beta, and it was CRAZY better. I'd guesstimate 20 fps better. From chop to butter. Multiple CPUS etc. 'Course I did this after I froze my system trying to overclock it for Black Shark.
  5. Some of us are still just figuring the game out, and aren't quite ready for multiplayer yet. Feels like the game is still pretty new. I think there are a bunch of single players out there still learning. Multiplayer seems daunting at this level, but give us some time.
  6. I don't know how to upload on this site. But Saitek's site has one, and a google search "Black Shark x52" should bring some up. It is pretty easy to "fiddle" with, so adjust it for your own needs. No question is too stupid. It took me a week before I blew anything up ('cause I didnt know how). I am just getting into the Datalink, and it's a bit overwhelming. Taking one thing at a time. I know there are good reasons not to fly on easy, but I was/am too frustrated trying to figure out everything else AND to keep from crashing. I am going to go realistic this weekend.
  7. I am totally going to get flamed for this, but I think putting the game on "Easy Avionics" while you learn the rest of the game lessens the learning curve. You will love the X52, with the the throttle. I can't imagine playing without one. If you want a super straightforward profile let me know. Also, think about investing in TrackIR-this game could get expensive. Get a printout of the key commands, and graphic layout as well. Watch the designer (?) notes video, and then try stuff out in Instant Action. Remember to hit Master Arm/Laser Standby for immediate action. And use the SHKVAL as a third eye. I am a noobie as well. But I LOVE this game.
  8. I would buy it. Question is, when would this happen? I need a printed manual, and don't want to pay twice- printing the PDF, and then again buying a pre-printed manual.
  9. Thanks so much for the help guys. Really appreciate the responses.
  10. As I have progressed (slowly) in the game, I see why you would like to understand the objective of my questions. I think it is merely a matter of feeling in control. But here is the scenario that initiated the question. As I swept through a target area, I needed to quickly implement my radar guided missile. But to get it into the game, I had to skew it from its last ground stabilized position. And I wanted to have the flexibility of targeting anything I was approaching. Therefore, I kind of wanted boresights (I know the tactics might be flawed, but I still wanted the option, in that tactics are evolving as I learn the "system") And as referred to previously, there does seem to be a cannon boresight mode, and it is a start (does this boresight the SHKVAL for all purposes?). I also hope that when you guys refer to stuff, you could refer to key inputs (e.g. "LWin+Home= [Easy Startup Mode] just to ease the learning curve for me.
  11. Great thanks. And of course you were right regarding the center SHKVAL, I was hitting "L-ctrl i" (it is "R-ctrl i") Is there any way to put the SHKVAL into boresight mode (e.g. locked into a forward looking position) w/o holding down "o" on the HMS.
  12. In a (somewhat related) question. After I uncage the SHKVAL, is there any way to put it back into boresight mode (or in other words-keep it centered). The Center SHKVAL button doesn't seem to do anything. I use HMS to get move it around quickly, but is there any toher way to place it in the center quickly and keep it there (or just get it centered quickly). I think the the 'ctrl i' option fails to accomplish this. -of course I am missing something. Also, as an aside, I have a hard time finding ground targets without labels on. Everything blends, and I have all graphics maxed out. Anyway to skew the rockets reticle? And why do the rockets occasionally fail to fire if the SHKVAL reticle is out of range? Any help on any of these topics would be great. Having a blast with the game though.
