  1. After stressing out a bit, I upgraded to Vista 64 bit. I assumed that since BS is so CPU intensive 64 bit might enable more calculations. Runs great, but I don't have any "objective" information. I was on XP, then went to Win 7 32 bit, then to Win 7 64 bit, and then bought a new computer with Vista 64 bit. Sheesh...
  2. I have a multimonitor set up and Vista, and used your first path (in Program Files). Never went into the appdata folder. Wierd that you had to.
  3. Well after months of work, and literally thousands of dollars (please don't tell my wife) I have this friggin game working great. The major problem was that the game works very poorly (i.e. poor frame rates) with three monitors hooked to two graphics cards, but works great as long as the game is only physically hooked to one card (so I had to buy TH2Go). Now graphics maxed and frame rate is butter. The only problem (amongst a couple of other nits) is that the main menu is smack dab in the center of my right 2 monitors (the TH2GO makes the computer/game think the 2 monitors are one long ass monitor). I am not going to mess with it too much 'cause I just got the luas to work with the phantom monitor fix. It is just hard to read the after action report etc. Is there an option to adjust the location of the main menu in .luas? Now maybe a little multiplayer.....SCARY
  4. Thanks. Waiting on a new computer, and I will try some MP then.
  5. I'd like to play multiplayer, but it's a little daunting. Does changing the .lua files (for multiple monitors, and touch buddy) impact the multiplayer portion?
  6. I also have this problem. I have asked for support from this forum, and received some help, but nothing fixed the problem.
  7. Would your profile work with TripleHead2Go? I was trying to figure out a work around to using two graphics cards and three monitors (per my other posts I get a sizeable frame rate drop with the two cards engaged).
  8. Thanks. Good insight. And I too am a little wary of spending cash on a purely speculative solution. I did switch around the outputs/monitors, and there is a minor difference. It seems that the ABRIS is better on the 285, and the Shkval on the 8800. I dunno why. Maybe i will see if Ntune can increase some of the bottlenecks. HULLLOOOO BSOD.... I must admit that I am very disappointed. I can't decide whether to play with a little Shkval, and touch buddy ( 2 monitors); or to just have the Shkval and no touch buddy at all (2 monitors-waaahhh!), or take the hit on the freme rates (3 monitors) and hope the freezes stop.
  9. So, I did what Ethereal suggested, and disabled the 8800. First off, that seemed to have fixed the freezing problem (does this mean a new psu should fix the issue?) AND I got a crazy increase in FPS. The Shkval on one monitor was really dumping the fps. I complained about this previously, and bought a new GPU, which helped. In any event, I hope there is some help in the future, because Dick Dastardly's Touch buddy profile is especially great on three monitors. I wonder if I replaced the 8800 with another 285, I could get the FPS that I have now, but on 3 monitors?
  10. Case is open. I have added two 12 cm fans pull/push configuration. I have underclocked the CPU, but not the GPU. Same problem. I will try the GPUs today. Both graphics cards are runnning at same time. Using a 3 monitor setup. 1000 watt power supply. Its a Dell XPS 710 system. Default system, with a new nvidia GTX 285, as well as the 8800. Yes, quite frustrating. But really appreciate the help guys.
  11. Seperate displays. Using Dastardly's three monitor set up.
  12. First off, I love this game, and have spent a bunch of money getting the hardware to run it. However, I can't complete an entire mission. Eventually, about 30-45 minutes in the game will freeze. No graphic glitches. Small crackling in speakers I thing. I need to hard-reboot the computer. I thought it might be heat, but i have installed fans, and placed fans at 100 percent on CPU/GPU via ntune. Windows 7 Intel 2 Quad @2.66 4 gb Ram GTX 88000 GTX 285-think problems began when I added this Using DCSMax Touchbuddy/DD profile I have a bunch of files in my the KA-50\temp file, but none with a .crash extension. (eg .tmp/.miz etc.). Can't seem to uplad any of those files anyway. Really want to play the game....please help.
  13. It is weird, I used to get same or similar bug, but after a reinstall of nvida drivers and messing with ntune (to cool the CPU) the bug seems to have disappeared. It would crash occasionally, and I could usually just restart.
  14. Anyone get this bug fixed yet? It isn't a huge deal, because you can relaunch the game after it crashes, but still like to see a fix
  15. OK, I got the GeForce 285. So now I have the ABRIS, and main camera hooked to the 285, and the SHKVAL hooked to the 8800. Things ran much better, but still not as well when I wasn't using the third monitor, and touch-buddy. Even with DDs 2 monitor setup, I was still running at a lower frame rate. It's too bad. It seems that BS multi-monitor setup can be very hard on graphics cards. It would be nice if each system (e.g. ABRIS, SHKVAL etc.) were processed seperately. The ABRIS system (with DD) seems to take a lot of graphic's horsepower. Still, much better. And I love this game. Already spent sooo much money on it though....crazy money.
  16. Also, there is significant improvement when I hook up two of the monitors to the 8800, and only one to the 6200 (although there is still a lot of chop) Waiting on new card. I'll let you know the results.
  17. Right. Looks like the second/slower video card limits the entire game's FPS, and not just the screen (e.g. SHVAL, ABRIS) that is attached to it. Too bad.
  18. I think when you pair them via SLI, the other physical outputs are disabled. The two cards become one (and one card has 2 ports).
  19. I get that as well. But sporadically, and usually I can just restart the game. I think it happened after I reconfigured the .luas for multimonitor support.
  20. BTW-DD when I get this thing running I want to get you a little cash for your profile-it is super cool. I'd like to PayPal you a token measure of gratitude for your work. Thanks for the responses guys, So I should I get a Geforce 285, and run non-SLI for BS?
  21. So why does the 8800 have to communicate with the 6200? Why doesn't the 6200 just draw the SHVAL and ABRIS, and the 8800 draw the cockpit/terrain etc? Why is there even more slow-down when I plug two monitors into the 6200, and only one into the 8800? And if the 6200 is the bottleneck, then should I just go SLI, and use the ports from the extra 8800? So many questions....all I wanna do is shoot stuff...
  22. Nope. Using three monitors in all now. Left is the Touch Buddy screen from DD, Middle is the main view/cockpit, and right is the SHVAL. Not really rendiring that much more, and there really isn't more information to process, so just wondring why the drop in FPS? Whats strange is that if I plug the two monitors (SHVAL and ABRIS) into the GeForce 6200, the main screen (attached to the GeForce 8800 GTX) slows down even more. I would think that having the two monitors being rendered by the 6200, would free up processing power for the 8800, and should be smoother gameplay. I am aware that BS is CPU dependent, however the FPS is clearly being impacted by the new monitor, and/or graphics card setup.
  23. So I added a new touchscreen monitor-(have three in all now) to use DD's touch buddy profile (super cool), but my frame rate dropped significantly. Why would that occur, I don't think much more processing power is being used. I am using DCS max with 4 cores/Win 7/Nvidia GTX 8800/GeForce 6200 for third touch buddy monitor. I know that BS is bottlenecked at the CPU, but the FPS drop seems related to the addition graphics rendering (Touch Buddy etc.) What could I do to improve the FPS? New/better video card? Stop extra apps from running etc.
  24. Yup, I jumped from XP to the Win 7 beta, and it was CRAZY better. I'd guesstimate 20 fps better. From chop to butter. Multiple CPUS etc. 'Course I did this after I froze my system trying to overclock it for Black Shark.
  25. Some of us are still just figuring the game out, and aren't quite ready for multiplayer yet. Feels like the game is still pretty new. I think there are a bunch of single players out there still learning. Multiplayer seems daunting at this level, but give us some time.
