  1. Thanks all, though I think I'm being partly misunderstood; it's not that I'm trying to fly a SEAD mission, the fact is that pretty much all the missions seem to have SAMs everywhere around, but I have no idea how long or even if someone else (in single player) is going to take to take them out. That being the case I guess I just fly round in circles until I run out of fuel (haven't learned aa refuelling yet) or my RWR stops beeping? If it's the case that in real life the only ground threats to the A10 (apart from manpads) are things like ZSUs - which you CAN take out before you're in their range?
  2. D I think but tbh didn't notice... operationally they deploy the same though right? I've just heard this from someone else... so if I hang around long enough then the AI will take care of all the SAMs for me? How will I know? Nothing on my RWR? Thanks for the replies, appreciated.
  3. Sorry for the suck eggs newbie muppet question but this is driving me up the wall now so I think I'm missing something. Reasonably proficient now with the systems and can even find the odd target now, but I can't seem to EVER get within launch range (or manage a Maverick lock) before a SAM hits me eg, Instant Action, PG map, you're headed at an island with some armour to take out and a bunch of sams and aaa. Supposedly also SEAD from a pair of F-16's and a wingman. I evade the first couple immediately launched at me, turn 90 degs left and locate a SAM launcher on my TGP. I'm about 15 miles away, and tried GBU38's from 15000ft, sea skimming then zooming up at about 5 miles to try with Mavericks, but each time I'm killed by SAM. Got my CM's in full auto chaffing like there's not tomorrow. How would you deal with this scenario please guys?
  4. Same here! Sorry I can't answer but I'm the same having just started learning A-10C... always land in the touchdown zone but grumpy instructor is never happy...
  5. No, i did check that but good question! Will give that a go when I'm next home, thanks
  6. Thanks, but have that checked, but the selection menu's don't appear, I think it is linked to the fact that the "" key does NOT function to bring them up when I am in VR (not that I'd want or be able to use it). I guess I was hoping my warthog PTT switch/hat would bring it up when I pressed it but can't work out how to.
  7. Can anyone tell me how to enable the communications menus to show inside VR? I'm trying to use Vaicom Pro but don't know what to say half the time... it does the display what I say (when I say something recognisable) and the text of the response, but seeing the actual menus would be golden for my learning curve. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks for the tips chaps, I fully intend to get into multiplayer and join a squad at some point but I guess I need to cut my teeth first. Although the gap between how far the training missions take you and the complexities of a proper mission is huge. The "training" campaigns I've downloaded seem to just be a bunch of checkrides which assumes you've already mastered a lot of this stuff already, like how interactions with JTAC etc work. How the first guys who posted on Youtube taught themselves in the first place is a mystery to me, but I'm glad they did!
  9. Thank you guys I was hoping it might be something like that rather than me massively missing a huge trick somewhere! Can I assume all the single player one off missions are therefore out of date like that I wonder... I'm sure I come up against the same thing in many of them
  10. Hi chaps, I've been training and going over tutorials and read the flight manual from cover to cover along with lots of other guides I've found. In theory I think I know what I'm doing but I'm getting really frustrated when I try an actual mission, for example "Sitting ducks", where I check in with JTAC and get tasked, get my red triangle sent to my TAD, slew to it and make it SPI then slew my TGP to it. There seems to be no marking done in this instance (from the 9-line message) so I guess I'm supposed to somehow locate them in the forest with my TGP, but how on earth do I do it?? I have it on WHOT but it's a needle in a haystack. Meanwhile other AI units manage to engage stuff which I see smoking from the trees. Can anyone help at all? I'm on the verge of giving up now despite having invested the best part of 40-50hrs in trying to learn this. I'm a commercial pilot so the flying part is easy, but this seems ridiculously hard!
  11. Ah I didn't realise the part about the EAC! That makes total sense. Thank you I'll have a look when I'm home.
  12. IFCC Test (to enable CCRP Consent in menu) then can't re-engage AP As title really, anyone know why I'm experiencing this, or do I need to set it on the ground before takeoff and this is how the aircraft is supposed to behave if I go into test menu in flight? Thanks
  13. Hi all, newish to DCS world but initially been using through the Rift CV1 and upgraded to the Rift S this week to try and make the cockpit useable in VR. When it works, it is a massive improvement, but the problem is this is all soooo unbelievably unstable it makes me think it wasn't tested properly. IF when I load the Oculus World runtime it doesn't blackscreen, there is a 50/50 chance it will blackscreen 2 seconds after the initial loadup of the DCS world menu. If this happens I have to try and reinsert the USB cable, then go back into the Oculus s/w and re-setup the device (despite it saying it is all connected and working properly) then restart the Oculus software and reboot about 1000 times then find it still doesn't work then do the USB thing again, etc, etc, etc. Still waiting for a response from Oculus helpdesk. Most frustrating. Promising, but frustrating. Everything is bang up to date on my PC which has a brand new Mobo, CPU plenty of RAM, RTX 2060 etc, and when it does work, as I say, it is amazing. I just hope they fix it in software soon and that it's not a defect in the hardware.
  14. I'm a new player, and definitely another yes please from me
  15. Hi, I've just joined the DCS/VR world and my first thought was that someone needed to invent exactly what you have done, what a fantastic coincidence! Would you mind putting me down on the long list for one of these please? Thank you very much.
