PSA: F-14 Performance/FM Development Status + Guided Discussion
maxsin72 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Really interesting video about F14, corner speed 425 knots, 8g with wings stuck at 20 degrees, and much much more https://youtu.be/YJW5As4Os4U?t=2067 -
PSA: F-14 Performance/FM Development Status + Guided Discussion
maxsin72 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'm, we are waiting for years, 1 year to fix the first big FM update who totally tanked the F14 (HB went on for many months saying the FM almost perfect but, at the end, they changed it). Almost another year has been passed waiting for the fix of the last update. I'm not impatient, dude, i'm becoming old I like very much BFM but, with the actual FM, F14 is still tanked. HB is developing many beautiful projects, so i think it's normal they need more specialists. -

The meaning is perhaps HB need more FM specialists, do you understand now? Or do you need i paint you the concept? -

I have the same question, thanks Frankly, in my modest opinion, i think, for example, pilot's body it's really nice... after the FM is fixed, because FM is the pulsing heart of the plane. -

Listening to HB, it was really close also before the last big FM update and i've already read the same kind of answer also befeore the last big FM update, so what is your point? I understand it's a very very hard work and also that there are problems not generated by HB, but the lack of acceleration in my opionion (to tell the truth not only mine) exists, so i would be very glad to know what HB think it's possible to do, you can like it or not, but this is what people are legit to ask. I thank you for your answer, but i think it's necessary that HB will answer. -

As you can see in Fat Creason answer, he wrote "The overall changes won't be significant either, it's already very close". So i doubt HB is considering the acceleration question, obviously i hope i'm wrong -

Dear Heat Blur Staff, i really appreciate your hard work and passion for F14. Anyway i'm disappointed because of your silence about the acceleration question. Several people have reported the problem with data and even graphs. Maybe we are wrong, but i think it would be very kind and useful to aswer and tell us if you think the problem exist or not. Thanks a lot -

Any update about acceleration question? Thanks -

This is not the point, the point is to understand if, as some people think, F14B FM lack in acceleration or not. When HB released the FM update in november 2020 it was totally clear the plane was heavy tanked and, at least at the beginning, to everyone who reported the new FM was tanked, HB ansewered it was ok and very close to NATOPS standard. But that was not the truth. I think, and i'm not the only one, that now the FM is really close to NATOPS standard apart acceleration. So, in my opinion, could be a good idea if HB will investigate. -

Between -1200 and -1000 there is a 20% difference and the graph posted shows a maximum of 40% difference between the test and standard NATOPS, i think this is a huge difference, or maybe i'm wrong. -

I think it's enough to simulate a standard airplane who reproduces well NATOPS standard, don't you think? -

I thought the same but any good answer is wellcome. I also ask to myself if, when the script give the right result, could be a good idea if a real person (a skilled one who knows what to do) test the FM to see if he is able to obtain the same result as the script because, in the real world, there were not a script to pull the plane to his limit. -

Very interesting, are there data at sea level or other altitude? If the answer is yes, may i ask you if could you perform a comparison with DCS performance? Thank you a lot. -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
maxsin72 replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
Passmark does not count anything in gaming benchmark. You must look at specific benchmarks just like this where you can understand that also 12900ks gets trounced all around: -

Multiplayer is where dcs is much more cpu limited, it would be really interesting a test on a server with many players. -

I think who has an AM4 system could try the cpu buying it from a reseller who accept the return and refund the price of the product. -

Yes, it's due to the 3d cache. VR is very cpu intensive, so 3d cache may help a lot. -
In the last days many reviews were published on net and it seems we have a new cpu who increase really much performance in gaming, it's AMD 5800X3D

It is definitely something related to dcs, memory usage remains really high, about 28 gb, even if i disconnect from MP servers, causing heavy lags. Before the last update, after disconnecting from the MP server, i was under 20gb memory usage.
