Hi, thanks for the reply. Well, I have noticed, even without using a random generator, the tracks are unplayable since they use numbers to represent Attacking units and so on. So, when I tried to hit replay, it didn't know what to do. It was suggested I get TacView Advanced so I can watch the Tracks . Now , I see your point about potential danger in using different random generators , especially for time related events. The only time I have used the generator to create a time span offset, I have give the software some leeway on when It actually schedules something based on the number. So far in my code, It doesn't matter if there is a bit of fluctuation. I am willing to accept it for the benefit of lots of randomization options. I like to think a bit of C++ code added into the DCS core might open up that option a bit for people to use :) Now ,that's quite an engine they have and they already have tons of stuff to work on. So, I will just work around it by updating missionscripting.lua as needed.

Chop-U mission to be released soon
Lineaxe replied to Lineaxe's topic in User Created Missions General
Now, there is one bug I have seen crop up ever since I started using the beacon transmitters, (which is early in the Chop-u project). Sometimes , after changing from other types of vehicles into the UH-1 slots, the beacon transmitters are not getting received by the Uh-1's ADF and other dial. Now, I have heard others having similar radio problems to this with the Uh-1 choppers. Anyhow I am sure looking into solving that particular bug for sure. It's cropped up occasionally for a while and I still have no idea what is causing it. Is it the transmitters or in the chopper ? Still no idea and haven't found the resources so far to figure it out. My bro has suggested that the soldiers got killed off & can't transmit anymore. I am gonna test that out , if that's the case it makes sense why the Huey's don't get the Beacon signal under the above conditions. -

WOW , code seems to be double spawning some of the RED tanks .. so, I will find the bug, fix it and put up the update soon...Now, I specifically told it NOT to do that !!! Ok ,fixed it already, last nights late at night programming ... The coffee is starting to work now.. Bug fix was obvious, I was testing the Spawn capabilities . anyhow Versions have been updated now ... 0922a - update gives more missions to A10 warthog & F18 -
Chop-U mission to be released soon

Latest Version 1.200920 is now ready for downloading ... Also I sent along a version with no combined arms. Check top of this thread for the new link when it gets accepted ... In this version Enemy HQ is now in a random location . More enemy Tanks & types of Tanks have also been added in. Some minor code changes & bug fixes were also done. Now I am still learning which Tank does what , and so I have 9 types right now and as I learn. I will change over some of the ones I have for a different style of Tank. I guess most importantly, LET me know if the downloads require any other assets to run since we have added some ( downloaded) skins to the Warthog and the F18's. If there are problems with downloads I can change over the skins , I think...Anyhow , time to get back to flying... -
Uhh, C++ , eh , now I know why the C# code is so obscure to DCS...Joke's on me I think ... Heheh, oh well .I have been doing some coding in C++ for Arduino, Ubuntu & Andriod (linux) systems. I did check out some OPENGL stuff. WebGL Looks promising . Directx is such a large API . Must be huge now, I haven't looked at it in quite a while. Now I wonder what kind of tools have been developed to help created 3d worlds using C++ these days. I have always nicknamed C++ the 'hell' language. But multiple inheritance, I guess , comes at a cost... Brrr....must be the language of the devil I tell ya . Anyhow, I still dabble away in it here and there :)

Chop-U mission to be released soon
Lineaxe replied to Lineaxe's topic in User Created Missions General
Hi, I think I can manage that one :) Now, I did just make changes to the lua file's code. I started playing around with enemy tank code. It spawns those Tanks differently now. That is, into a random number of 15 potential tank paths. Also, players will find the number may be increased: if, in the first 30 seconds, a UH-1 flies over a Tire Zone that is found on roof. ** This newer code was added into all the other changes I had put in in order to make game play more challenging only when players want a bit more challenge ,(As explained in the Chop-u briefing, I hope ...). When I put up a newer version of Chop-U , I will name a copy something like Chop-u-NoTanks.miz and so on and leave a new link above . Oh , I changed the lua code to randomize the Spawning of the enemy HQ. (being used with enemy recon & attack aircraft ). In the earlier version , it was only in one spot and you could see it to bomb it. I am testing away with the random zone :random point in zone code I find that : It works, the recon & attack aircraft seem to be doing their jobs , so I should have that code tested out soon enough. -
Well I must point out that any code needed I put the code is already in the above post. I simplified any operations needed for any intergration into the DCS engine . C# is not obscure at all, and it is the language used to write XNA code (which I imagine would be used to create the DCS world). Anyhow, it's the one that I have used to create 3d world engines with. It's the one that Microsoft uses for Directx related code and it's XBOX 1 code is written with XNA. So I created a function that can should hook into existing code in the DCS engine. Now , I know that many programmers are quite busy with upgrades, bug traces & fixes, and the like , so I did just put it in the wishlist and made it as easy as possible for someone to implement. Heh, as I go back over my 40 years of programming , I think of all the times , in all the programming languages, I somehow go back to calling that time function. Right up from to old days of C , before C++ . I think I even called it up in Pascal back then. I wouldn't call a function as common as that 'obscure' at all , However, it is pretty obscure , as far as the DCS project is concerned I must admit :) The project that the code is being used with, I posted elsewhere here, It's a Random Generator, based off some research I had done online at some LUA programming websites. I threw a coupla extra options into the original function , however, throughout the function os:time , is required. This generator is being used right inside my Chop_u series of missions. Well, implemeting the above code , somehow is on my wishlist anyhow. I am sure that tons of great features are being worked on at the moment and I eagerly await all patches ! I can always just remind everyone who downloads these missions to manually copy a modified copy of the missionscripting.lua file over after the upgrades( as it gets written over).

VoiceAttack for Chop-u I am including VoiceAttack for Chop-u as a zip file. I just downloaded it the other day. It will do the following commands: setup huey -- sets up the 5 radios to the correct frequencies setup mi8 -- sets up radio to the dock frequency setup warthog -- sets chaff selection to manual then on the on left MFCD sets up AIM 9 missiles, changes the DMS display over & turns map off , arms the Guns, Laser & Master , turns on the TCP and finally selects TCP mode on right MFCD. The warthog setup also required me to add in several keyboard combinations into the A10 profile. They use Left Alt, Left Shift, and the F1 - F12 keys in order to interact with the VoiceAttack command. I find it helps me quite a bit while I develop and chase down bugs. NEW pilots & tank commanders should learn by interacting with the controls on all their vehicles until they become very familiar with where everything is located on them. When they think they qualify for it and then use VoiceAttack to automate the start up process... Anyhow, enjoy using the VoiceRecorder.dat file, whichever way you chose... VoiceAttack.zip -
heh , easy for you guys to say ... Thanks for the advice, I will try that when I get my chopper stable enough to make those kind of moves :)

request for a C# function that will return OS.time to be added into DCS core Hi , I have a somewhat crucial need for a C# function to be added into DCS . This is so that I can access it without having to desanitize the MissionScripting.lua file . C# code such as the following could easily be added in and shouldn't cause any problems with any XNA code already present in the project. using System; namespace funcOS { class AccessOSFunctions { public long getOSTimetoLong() { OSLongTime= new Date().getTime(); return OSLongTime; } public long setLongtoOSTime() { // not used } } } :dunno:

OK , but how do you land it sideways , I have to do rolling landings so far...

need to examine the radio Freq settings in Mi-8
Lineaxe replied to Lineaxe's topic in Mission Editor
Based on the number of reads of this post , it seems a few of us would like to find out how to do this , so I will try to update this post with anything I can find out on the matter. It seems Grimes has recently answered a post similar to this one and there is some good info there. So I will dig that up again and put a link to it here as well. And if I do get anything of the sort going I will put the relevant & hopefully working lua code here in this Thread. -

I hadn't needed to do so. The Youtube Tutorials I had watched covered a few things , but nothing on altering MissionScripting.lua for that reason. Just to comment out the sanitize code lines so that I could connect up a debugger with LD tools from eclipse . Which didn't work , actually ... -

Hi, In my lua code I would like to get the Freq (and other settings) of the Mi-8's 863 Radio so that I can make sure it is on a particular Frequency. Also, I would really like to know how to do it with other Radios and in different vehicle types.:book:

Fantastic. I know I can work that in somewhere's and have it all compile ... err .. well , you know what I mean :)
