It works and you won't need to edit a (non-existant) graphics.cfg any more since 1.2.4. All changed shader files will now be used without to make edits. There is now only a graphics.lua and its also 'cleaned up' , means the legacy stuff is thrown out . Please read the \DCS World\Config\graphics_readme.txt to get used to the mod-friendly changes.

Can we have this little Huey feature in our BS?
PeterP replied to sylkhan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
>This "unrealistic mod" (I call it fix) is not unrealistic - You don't have to recenter your feet when you trim. Maybe useful on a Twist grip-Joystick. - but a unneeded extra workload when using rudders - or having even Rudders with dampers and without centring , like it's very common for helicopter use. Edit: Force trim moves the centring force of the used control - so you can leave it where it is at the time where you have applied the Force-trim , but you don't have to work against the springs/dampers/hydraulics. You can than fly "hands/feet off" while the controls stay at position. And it doesn't move the controls back to 'center' The Ka-50 has also a force-trim at the rudders, that work analogue to a Force-trim stick. When you trim you don't have to put in any force where the rudders are positioned while trimming. This is uncommon to Conventional light helicopters - but it is a very useful thing in the KA-50 because of it of it's great fin. Have a look the this video and special attention to the knee/leg of the pilot while he trims (and he does it very often. well, in this prototype a button in the lower front of the handle is used ) : Here is the afford of "Trigger-happy" to get this functionality into his cockpit build: And here are my thoughts on this to implement this feature and also make it usable for Fixed-wing aircraft - so I'm able to move the rudders also gradually and not always at once: >>>>Force-Trim Rudder (WIP and still in conceptual design phase) -

A) Yes - Please read the read-me again ... , especially the part that follows after this: (No! don't take only a glance at it - I mean it : Read it! It has a lot of useful info that goes beyond the installation procedure - I didn't wrote it just to use up my keyboard...Sorry if this sounds harsh - but it is not only directed to you - I'm just not in the mood to write things down again that are already written down and talked X times in this thread and also linked in post #1) You may want to revisit post #1, as the Readme is quoted there also and it has some text in bold and a colour-code for important stuff. B) Have a read in this thread : Start of Mission Zoom Effect + Track IR Look out of Vipers and my posts to get the most usefull info. To make it short: Get used to hit once NumEnter when you entered the pit/after the initial zoom stooped. Tip: I use NumEnter+Num5 for TrackIR center and its triggered by my paddle switch when I hold it longer than 1sceond. -
MSFFB2 stick - AMAZING - I hope the FM doesn't change
PeterP replied to Vintovka's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Options -> Misc. tab -> Check 'Force Feedback Enabled' Options -> Special tab -> UH-1H -> Un-check 'Central Position Trimmer Mode' Options -> Controls tab -> 1. Highlight the SideWinder row 2. Click FF Tune 3. Check Swap Axis for X and Y DCS-World 1.2.4 has the option to swap each axis individually -the screen shot is taken pre 1.2.3- you want to swap both for the MSSFFB2. Curves and dead-zones: Never use curves and dead-zones on the FFB axis - leave it linear. (at least in a Force-trim Helicopter) Using a curve will mess up the proper behaviour of your stick, as the FFB is calibrated to the full range of the axis movement and smaller or shifting the axis read out will bring in a asynchrony in the stick movment to the reported position. . -

Everything is fine, well , read on - DCS uses this smaller sun itself since 1.2.3. so no need to use this mod -and its isn't compatible any-more. Only the HDR effects are a little overdone for my taste - so you not really notice that the sun is smaller unless you zoom very close in to the sun. Here is the successor of this mod: HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4 ( 1 2 3) PeterP

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Jerec - this is a question that belong in another thread and/or a appropriate one. Maybe this thread is the place to ask me , but please don't expect me to discuss this further in this thread. - its cluttered more than enough how it is. ;) -
MSFFB2 stick - AMAZING - I hope the FM doesn't change
PeterP replied to Vintovka's topic in DCS: UH-1H
You are 100% right about the FFB and stick! ( but not about the thread title >I hope the FM doesn't change < as I and others see some things that needs some retouch ) But do you know what is two times better than one MSSFFB2 ?! -
Camera view settings that I'm happy with - but I'm open fore more tweaking. Edit:\DCS World\Config\View\Server.lua And replace the Su-33 values with this one: ViewSettings["Su-33"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 CockpitLocalPoint = {7.98,1.480000,0.000000}, CameraViewAngleLimits = {20,160}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,130.00,0.90}, CameraAngleLimits = {150.000000,-70.000000,90.000000}, EyePoint = {0.16, 0.1, 0.0}, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.08,0.360},y ={-0.17,0.08},z = {-0.17,0.17},roll = 90.000000},

Thanks! - but this doesn't really fixes the cockpit position - it's using the old values. Only the eyepoint is moved forward - whatever - it's a temporally workaround . See: Instead moving the eye-point forward the cockpit has to be moved to the back. I'm on it now - will post 'correct' values once I'm happy with them. But a absolute fit seems to be impossible with this model.

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Many thanks Necroscope ! - this points me in the right direction to change the Huey views individually. BTW: There is a new RC in the works that exchanges the Su-33 pit: Yes , and it's very easy. But the cockpit position is a little off-set so I will work today out the right values and integrate it in this mod: Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck So look out for a new RC release within the next 8houers and examine the change-log. In the meantime follow this simple instruction: Up to now I didn't found a lot time to test it for possible bugs - but if it works like it should: Question: Is there any good reason why I should leave the Su-33 pit in this mod like it is? IF so - please tell why. Maybe you can also help me to find the right cockpit position that is defined in the Server.lua in the Su-33 entry - so I can devote more time for my daughter today :). Edit: Camera view settings that I'm happy with - but I'm open fore more tweaking. Edit: \DCS World\Config\View\Server.lua And replace the Su-33 values with this one: Line #290 ViewSettings["Su-33"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 CockpitLocalPoint = {7.98,1.48,0.0}, CameraViewAngleLimits = GlobalCameraViewAngleLimits, CameraAngleRestriction = GlobalCameraAngleRestriction, CameraAngleLimits = GlobalCameraAngleLimits, EyePoint = GlobalEyePoint, limits_6DOF = {x = {-0.08,0.360},y ={-0.17,0.08},z = {-0.17,0.17},roll = 90.000000}, -

Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank you Mastiff! - I tried to re-enable the separated views for each seat-position in the Huey that seemed to be working before 1.2.4 - I tried everything what I could think of the last couple of hours - but I failed. whatever - I made a good compromise. Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck plus 6DOF for Mig-29 , Su-33 and Su-25T for DCS World 1.2.4 RC 1 is up and attached to post #1. Read the readme! now I need some grog -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck

Kneebord Export for all DCS modules - I need your suggestions
PeterP replied to PeterP's topic in DCS Modding
I'm now in the design phase of rewriting parts in DCS 1.2.4 for working Kneeboard exports that allows you also to take your own set of check-lists and briefing with you and I have to make some decisions. (well, its somwhat already implemented ,but Icemaker and I want to give it a own menu with additional options like writing your own notes before entering the cockpit - without the need to go into a file-editor) And I need your suggestions , as it gets trickier to change things afterwards as I also plan to put everything into a somewhat own 'module'. Question : Do you think it's useful to have the Knee-board on different places in each module - would you use such feature? Why would you use/need such function and why you wouldn't renounce on it. Means: You want to have the Knee-board in a absolute different place and size when entering the Huey as in a FC3 plane. This will also mean that you have to use and define a different Entry in your monitorsetup-lua - when you don't manage it before hand you wont see the kneeboard at all for the module that is missing this entry. (I hope it will be possible to automatize this on a later stage by a new EMC version or similar) Would be nice to get some educated feedback on this , instead the other posts about the 'when?' and 'how?'. And I'm especially interested in the opinion of Virtual-Squadron members and their special needs. As I will/want to integrate a function that extracts mission data and shows it on a mission-chart template. -
Kneeboard and Mult-Monitor
PeterP replied to [FD]Ripper's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
When you have some time to wait for a complete solution that allows you resize and to put the knee-board anywhere you want - please subscribe to this thread: Kneebord Export for all DCS modules It's in the works. -
Here is one approach -there are more ways to do it but its one of the easier/less complicated to explain ones that doesn't needs a lot of maths - and it will fit your needs: Edit with a proper editor (Notepad++): DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Scripts\PilotSight\PilotSight_page.lua Line #8 A higher negative value moves the indicator to the left. Example for left position on a screen aspect of 2.5 (2560x1024): aspect = LockOn_Options.screen.aspect - 4 -- LockOn_Options.screen.aspect - 0.02

Thanks! - can you provide a link? - I will try to answer in my awkward English-Russian translation myself :). It's acknowledged by myself and already 'somewhat' in the works: How to assign absolute independent Views to each seat ? and once again:
