  1. Wolfrider, Thank you for answering all my questions. That's exactly what I have expected . ..I hope you don't mind my short response, as I have now something of more importance to do - like screeching my neck and/or opening a beer. (sorry I didn't decided up to now what to do first while I'm typing - so I can't tell it exactly in which order I do it -I bet you understand this - and I also hope that you, while reading these letters ,understand now how I felt by reading your last response. - it must be this same mixture of disbelieve and astonishment you maybe have now too) Have a good morning at the opposite where I'm sitting now. Again: thanks for your input! - no need to respond
  2. I wasn't able myself to update at a satisfying speed for two days after the 1.2.4 release- well this changed at thursday dramatically and I got a 2mbit download stream instead of 20KB average like before. Yes, sometimes things need time - even in our culture that demands always a 'now' ! ;)
  3. NP - everything is fine - just to let you know: I contacted a moderator to move our conversation in a appropriate thread or create a new one- as I think many people are interested in your nifty cockpit you have there ;). So... Once again: This would vastly help me save tomorrow a lot of time when I will re-edit the cockpit limits. Thanks! Here is the list that you can copy'n'paste: PS: Some of you may ask : "Why he need to re-edit this parameters?!" Then I will answer: " That's because when I add these (e.g.) 16cm to the pivot point DCS don't know about it and your eyes will be sitting 16 cm more in front and also to the sides when you look around - so it can very quickly happen that you have your eyes sticking trough a panel or through the canopy." - That's it. Install instructions and files for 1.2.4 are still reachable through the first link in posting#1
  4. Here is a small update what you can do when you are sick of the plastic feeling and you want to get a little closer to the real-deal when flying the Huey.... : In the meantime I also added pneumatic springs that holds them in place and adds a natural feeling resistance. and its a whole game changer again. (works also fabulous in fixed wing aircrafts and is a pure joy in the P-51d) When you plan it beforehand this modification can be done in less than 40min - just remove the silvercap that is responsible for the friction - you have to pull out first the small saitek-logo in it with a small flat screwdriver - than you will reach screw to remove the cap and the friction mechanism. after that you screw the springs in the middle at the already given holes in the middle(remove the little plastic detends and springs in them) - use about 6cm long screws - as they have to be long enough because the springs are angled in about 7° , so the other end is reaching the base - and than screw on the other end like on my picture. By using short sheet-metal screw (about 4mm in diameter) that also drive into the plastic. Make sure it is all symmetric! Pic: The springs above are used for kitchen doors (or whatever) and cost me 9€ in a local workers store "Hornbach" here in germany. Well - the assembly can sure look better - but this is only a temporally place holder until I completely rebuild new rudders that have force trim function and also a gradual Trim for fixed wing. I will be able to reuse many of the parts. and until than they sure do their job! >>>>Force-Trim Rudder (WIP and still in conceptual design phase)
  5. I have answered a similar question already - its for the KA-50 but same can applied for the Huey. >>> http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3690287/Re_Is_it_even_possible_to_main#Post3690287 That's all I can say as I don't know which controller you are using and how much travel your collective axis has - this is also very important to make fine adjustments. About rudder : This mod helps vastly for Helicopter use >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=73311 In the meantime I also added pneumatic springs that holds them in place and adds a natural feeling resistance. and its a whole game changer again. (works also fabulous in fixed wind aircrafts and is a pure joy in the P-51d) Pic: BTW : Did you know? ... Flying a helicopter without Force-trim is like having xxx with a rubber-doll.
  6. flying a helicopter without Force trim is like having xxx with a rubber-doll - it will maybe satisfy you for a night or two -...but you will be unlucky at the long run...: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=83814 >>>>Force-Trim Rudder (WIP and still in conceptual design phase) >>> KA-50 collective: another picture-tale another force trim mechanism >>>Twist grip upgrade How To: Remove centre detend from Saitek Pro Flight Rudder (Helps vastly to fly helicopters) ... and it's evolution:
  7. Than open a new thread or a appropriate one and ask for hep and be as detailed as you can be( this thread is not the right place) - tell also if you have occupied another slot or it's a separate module. And again: Give as many info as possible so you get what you want in the end.
  8. YES - as I wrote...a little patience! -we are not on twitter... Here it is :
  9. yes ... (wait... searching for relevant entry's and parameters to repost them for you... sitting on my laptop and have to boot the simulation-rig) ...
  10. I really appreciate your backup , but the post-count and status of a person shouldn't never be a criteria if you start a discussion or not. Everyone can overlook/miss something - this happens all the time - and I'm not free of it. -I got very similar advises three years ago ... If I remember correctly one of them was that I shouldn't tell the devs how the rudder-trim in the Ka-50 works. And I'm very glad that I didn't followed any of them >>> (...) and most imported : I'm sure able to speak for myself :) a reply like yours only let situations escalate and make the things bigger as they are. and I have to admit - my replys are not always free of it... anyway: No one should be really interested to have a escalation in a thread that is almost 100 posts long. - heck , Its our hobby we are talking about. Wolfrider, So you would be happy IF I called it "Popper head dimensions for DCS " or similar ? Further - What are you talking about exactly ? I See you are naming Three pivot points , are you talking about real life or what is possible inside of DCS ? IF you are talking what nature has to offer for us in terms to move your Head around... - well you are partly right , but this is not a medical lesson, Its about DCS and I pointed already out the limitations what's possible inside DCS. If you have missed it - Please read my postings with more than placative illustrations and explanations again. - Than think about it , ...and once again , and make your own tests. Than tell me what I should do in your opinion - because I still didn't get your point(s) at all how this fits into this discussion. And its more a mathematical problem as a biological one - so no need for putting in emotions - numbers don't need them to be right or wrong. Whatever I try - I can only find one pivot point in DCS and that Ijust tried to make the best out of given options. Have a look: ...I think we can call this a big improvement. If you are not satisfied - be more constructive and come up with something better, But discussing about pivot points that are not available is just a waste of your time. PS : what you interpret as arrogance is simply being honest with you. Now lets please get back on topic. Did someone have a go with my latest 1.2.4 edits? (I count 56 downloads of the the Beta files) If yes : Please Please tell me which cockpits need a closer look. and which axis. For simplification: Copy and paste following table and mark red what needs a rework and a line or tow of info . Example: This would vastly help me save tomorrow a lot of time when I will re-edit the cockpit limits.
  11. No problem at all ! viewing is a very subjective thing - our culture and socialisation makes it only objective... A smaller person sees the world (not absolutely, but) different from what I see - and ... ...I distract again :) That's why I wanted to add the "local EyePoint_with_proper_Neck" line that enables everyone to find 'their own values' . Even if it is only 1 or 2 centimetres - everyone has his own view experience - and the human brain is very good to distinguish if something feels wrong or right , even if it is sometimes hard to exactly say what's wrong. - You will still notice that something isn't right and it will not let you feel as good as you would like to. ... - this mod has the only purpose to make this discrepancy a little smaller - and everyone should be encouraged to choose their own setting that fits to them.
  12. Thanks ! And now the punchline : Now you probably see the rays how they are meant to be for the first time... I made the rays.tga myself while composing the "smaller sun" mod (pre 1.2.2)... , well ,somehow these files found a way into the official release and I'm glad they are still there and work as intended in the first place.
  13. Yes - ...:)...:( there is nothing that I/We(?) can do about it .. It's the Headtrackerinterface and/or the Natural-point software that doesn't makes a exact translation relative to your virtual Eye-position, - it only tracks absolute position of the tracker but doesn't turns the X/Z axis relative to my eyes when moving around - that's the main culprit why you still have to lean left to look right when checking your six - means that you turned around 180° with your virtual Head - but you still have to behave to the absolute position of the camera in front of you - there is a software that allows you to tell the the tracker when you turned virtually 180 - so it could be recalculated. - it's a pity that natural-point just waits to (maybe) only implement it in TrackIR6 - just for the software (!) and than our IR cams will get useless again ... and Natural-point tells us that we have to buy new cams (With a incredible 800x600 120hz resolution..(!).) ...Tha'ts what's bugs me - If natural-point would be honest and tells me that they need 60€ for the software development - I would pay.. but instead of this they look the IR cam for any upgrades ,even if it is still in mint condition, and tell me that I need a new cam... ...BTW my 8years old TrackIR2 cam still works flawless with Freetrack and 6DOF.... Anyway - The purpose of the Edits I have made are not to fix this issues you are naming. That was there from the beginning... They are independent - the neck gives you just another 'freedom' that wasn't there before and let you fell more "natural" in the cockpit.
  14. What Suchacz wrote and delete every assignment that is occupied by your FFB wheel and you aren't using.
  15. >>> corrupt calibration? crazy joystick response? Use this tools Fix read (especially the red part and the fist two sentences) and report back.
  16. Yes , this mod died - the comm menu now changes the F position dynamically , so there is no way to make the mouse-click area predictable without rebuilding the whole communication menu logic. :( (Damn. !.. can't ED make the Communication menu click able themselves ?! .. I hate to do this after each new 'patch' ! ...you just fixed one mod.. and another one gets berserk... )
  17. My sincerest condolences to his family, all his friends, people that have personally known , and worked with him. I feel very sorry. He is really not someone that can be replaced in any kind of way... - I bet he was very proud to see that the offspring of a 'crazy idea' is still growing and thriving. 2010 and in a outfit he seems to be more comfortable with : 2007 And here is a obituary you may want to read: >>> http://www.sailcontender.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=513:jim-mackonochie&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=63
  18. RIP Jeff Yes, you maggots - Jeff is the blond guy that plays this terrific riff.
  19. Thanks for testing it in 1.2.4 I now found also time for it , and I can confirm that it works still as advertised. Beach, If you need a change (I read the posts on SimHQ in the mirror of this thread ) for your journalism, please contact me via PM (I addend you now to my contacts) and send my a self explaining photo-edit how you want the radio menu placed /changed and I will see what is possible - I will repost on the forums with a explanation how it's done.
  20. ...and? >>> ..are you just posting something to get a reply, or are you also reading the contend before you post... So - please - what is your point? btw - the main importance is not the position of the pivot point. Its the distance between the eye-position and the pivot point. >>> see - you are able to change anything you like (what's within the limits of DCS) - so why a restart of the discussion you started already some moons ago , and I answered as best I could ? >>> >>>http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1656379#post1656379 >>> And when you just want to trigger that I show you more - well - that's not working ... Now it's your turn - you have to show me something. I can only speculate about your tone - so I think that it's just a misinterpretation - and I don't have any info because we never talked in person . but what I've seen up to now from you is not enough to spend more time on. >>>
  21. First > :) < tsriF Sure there is - its a computer-program, nothing is impossible - its all about time and (hardware)recurces- but let me ask also a question first: Are you really confident about it ? ; did you used this mod long enough to make this decision that the darkening takes to long ? I would like to invite to make two footsteps in my shoes (and I also let you know that I have tasted some good grog tonight..) , so: Its very often the same procedure - you do something and than someone tells you how to make it better and also asks at the same time how it works... - without the slighted word of recognition or just a simple 'thanks'... (I hope you catch my thought) But that's not my problem.. Its all about time. The edit you are asking is not that easy - just by turning a 'slider' and or changing a single value. It has all be very good balanced to work and there are more than 3 parameters involved - and this can be a very time-consuming task. You have to know - you change a value than you start your mission to see the changes - and than you redow it again - and so on. and ther is simply no easy way to debug shader files when you don't have the surcecode . - so rewriting chunks of it becomes a real pain. And now the punchline: I'm not worried about your time to search for the right values - its about my time to explain it to you (in other words: write my knowledge down). You have to know: I made it too often - just to get a reply in the end from the one that requested for info: "oh , thanks - I think I don't find time for it." ...start browsing this thread and watch out for my conversation with Corrigan and you get a idea what I mean and what I want to prevent. >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1527419#post1527419 (it contains already a lot of info you are looking for when you start to read at post #1) So please give me a brief info about your knowledge and if you already compared the edited files whit the original ones and if you can make any sense of it. Than will see how I tell you to change the behaviour of the initial darkening while keeping the sun bright so you can start experimenting and you maybe can help out to make this mod work better as it is now. And to be honest, these are not my inventions - this mod only restores a functionality that was used before 1.2.2 .
  22. Sorry that I'm giving such annoying answers tonight ... :) - but please compare your question with my instruction : Now you see that I never asked you to watch out for a 'view' folder in your user/saved games path. And never forget : Don't drink and drive! :D
  23. Please don't get me wrong Mustang, I have always great respect for yourself and the community work you are doing, (I hope I found the right English words ;) sorry...its getting really late on my end and I'm even losing my own mother tongue.) ...but it also adds to much brightnesses to the middles - so the rays.tga becomes a big cluster while the darkening of the surrounding isn't matching. - it sure looks nice on screen-shots but don't reflects what you are seeing with your own eyes. Well , its all a artistic interpretation in the end. Do you remember the Betelgeuse sized sun we had some moons ago? - >>> well, everything we have now is better that what we had and I really enjoyed to work with you together . Maybe we can brainstorm something till the shader-graphic artists of ED find something better. EDIT: This mode is not made in the first instance for a nice look - its made for realism , because no one would stare right in the sun more than he has to and I just want to reproduce this inconvenience everyone feels when doing it - simply because you temporally blinding yourself. Getting blind = dark , and not bright. Have a close look at the cockpit instruments - and you will see that in the default 1.2.4 setting the get brighter and better readable while you are blinded by the sun.... - its the opposite in the real world. Its even possible to higher the 'experience' by darkening the lows even more and of course higher the time-duration to get full sight again ,... but than the crowd would probably ask for a working sun-visor/sun-glasses :). and I also experimented with a animated transparent texture that comes close to a visor - but it doesn't rally feels right and seems only like a artificial gimmick instead of a useful tool - maybe some 3party dev comes up with some enchantments.
  24. THIS MOD IS COMPATIBLE WITH DCS 1.2.6. I want to offer you my edits that I use since DCS World 1.2.2... I really don't know what happened to the 'D' in the HighDynamicRange Lightning effect of DCS. For people that Don't know what I'm talking about : HDR in computer games In a nutshell : HDR in CGI is simulating the closing of the iris of your eyes and readjusting to changing light-conditions because today's common displays don't have the needed brightness and contrast to trigger this natural view experience by their own. Well , it's missing since 1.2.2 in DCS ... (edit)here is a answer: ...so I added a "Epilepsy Warning" to the ReadMe.txt. Whatever - Please judge yourself if you want to use attached files: BTW-now comes a little advertising: If you a curios what kind of view settings I'm using - because I have my virtual eyes so close to the head-rest when looking around >>>> Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck Some additional info: This mod is not made in the first instance for a nice look and taking 'dramatic' locking screen-shots - it's meant for in-cockpit use only - its made for realism , because no one would stare right in the sun more than he has to and I just want to reproduce this inconvenience everyone feels when doing it - simply because you temporally blinding yourself. Getting blind = dark , and not bright. Have a close look at the cockpit instruments - and you will see that in the default 1.2.4 setting they get brighter and better readable while you are blinded by the sun.... - it's the opposite in the real world - compare . I also removed this (annoying) shine when no sun at all is visible. >>> Sun glare through cockpit (I didn't found a way to tell the shine/bloom that appears at the edges of the screen to stop only when obscured by cockpit/object structures - my shader effect editing skills are less than sufficient for this, and my time is too limited to dig deeper into it -but I know that it is sure possible with dx9c) I don't say that it's perfect... ...,but please take a walk outside in the sun and make some experiments your own to see what is more realistic before starting an argument. !!!: For all that think they found a bug and want to post a report: Save a track where you have seen this - than replay this track without this modification. If this bug is still visible , it's definitely not caused by this mod. Thanks. And Keep in mind: The current 'Default-HDR' is still a can of worms. Bug-report >>> HDR fails and got 'stuck' bug - Doing it every-time like described above for any mod you are using will save you and the authors of a mod a lot of time. A note about the HUEY : for some kind of strange reason this effects is broken in the Huey cockpit after turning your head . - but this is no problem at all - when it is 'broken' -Means : you will lost the dynamical lightning change - it looks very, very close to the default 1.2.4 effect - maybe even a little better >>> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1791550#post1791550 a workaround to fix it is to alt-tab out and in (so the render gets reloaded and all shaders are reset), as long you use a 'fulscreen' setting. The ReadMe.txt: File: HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for 1.2.6 v.3.0.rar Size: 683 Kb [download] And here are my recommended SweetFX settings that you should use together with this mod: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1873475#post1873475 FAQ: Q:I want to use this Mod on a Multi-monitor setup . Just to clarify my understanding.... when you say that I have to use a single View-port matching my total in-game resolution you mean I should change my "monitorsetup.lua" similar to a "singelScreen" config , so my 'Center' Viewport covers the whole DCS render?.... A:yes - than you also need to change your default cockpit view to match this new center position . have a look at the read-me of this following link to gather all needed info how to change your default-view: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116 and you also may need to create a black background behind some exports if you are using a populated Helios setup: >>> #24 Keep in mind that this only works 'satisfying' on a vertical Screen arrangement.
