  1. I am in materials.lua and it says specifically that red and yellow will be set via dedicated controllers.. Does this mean those controllers are elsewhere or are they simply hardcoded into dcs and cant be changed? This would help the vr community a great deal if we could get rid of these red saturated symbols to something more readable. Thanks in advance for any input.
  2. Hi, anyone know how to change the color of symbology on the right mfd of the f18 mod ? Specifically im looking to change the colors of the red symbol enemy contacts (from datalink). Impossible to read in VR . I tried editting the colors in materials.lua from red to orange but it did nothing from I can tell. Also messed around with the controller file in radar_aa.lua just to see if I could override it, and again nothing. Thank you , would very much appreciate it!
  3. Obvious everyone has a different setup and different set of issues to contend with. This is by no means an indepth guide. Just general things I did and the order I did them in. 1. Hardware installation Building the system perfectly. See if you can disable somethings in bios (e.g. integrated graphics after you have your video card installed). have a usb ready with network/chipset drivers and another with latest bios for your mobo. Make sure you put the components in the correct slots. Video card should go on the closest pcie slot to the cpu as its the one with most bandwidth usually. Make sure NVME isnt sharing lanes with it. Good airflow and cooling. Use a good thermal paste like thermal grizzly when installing cpu. update your bios . Install windows 11 and drivers from your USB. When installing nvidia drivers I used an app called NVCleanstall to minimize nvidia footprint. Again GPT can help direct you on using this and suggest what you should not install and what you should. nullThe real fight begins in DEBLOATING windows 11. Stopping unnecessary services. Optimizing power modes. Everyone is different . You may need to keep some stuff I dont, but the goal is the same. Get rid of the bloat. Your latency times will improve. I dont need the weather, or copilot or the nonending adds windows 11 assaults you with. I spent about a day or two with debloating and optimizing windows settings, literally butchered the operating system with powershell and gpt making the scripts, using snipping tool to give gpt eyes to basically gut my operating system. Powersettingsexplorer is a great tool for some extra options you will need when changing powerplan settings- plenty of guides out there on the important changes you can make to powerplan. Here is an example of one of the things I changed: After I was satisfied with the latency, temperatures, cpu/memory stability and speed, only then did I install DCS (on its own drive) and oculus software and VERY importantly oculus tray tool . I had avoided using this because it is discontinued, but man, that turbo mode really really helps. In nvidia control panel i changed nothing except power for best performance. metaquest / oculus app 72hz and render resolution to 1.5x (leave dcs settings at 1.0 obviously). Oculus debug tool only changed video codec to H.264, encode dynamic bitrate disabled, and dynamic bitrate max 900, link sharpening quality. DCS settings only changed textures to high/high mssa 2x. shadows flat, smoke off, reflections off, dirt flare off, but really settings are not the issue imo - you can lower them and raise them depending on your system. My issue, as many of you out there, was micro stutters which most of the time is not just hardware dependent. DLSS J/K isnt there yet unless you just want to fly around.. looks great for that. not for actual simming. System - 9800x3d , 5090 , 64gb 6000mhz ram. Most of the tools I used: LatencyMon, NVCleanstall, Zentimings, HWMonitor, aida64extreme, powersettings explorer, p95, cpu-z. ZenTimings.
  4. Any guide to quest 3 setup. I may have missed it and would appreciate a link. Thank you.
  5. I dont know about the 5900x , but I just switched from 10700k to 5800x3d. Great performance! Especially if you run DCS liberation (so far).
  6. I upgraded from a 10700k to a 5800x3d. Dcs no longer works in vr. I have a version 1 reverb g2 which has issues with am4 chipset (cable is defective and cant provide the adequate signal). Various solutions (usb hub, dongle etc) provided none or partial fixes (e.g. sound going out when working, stops working etc.) Once I get it working I will let you know.
  7. Heya thanks for replies both of you. So far ive got a startech pcie card which did not work(7 14). Got a dongle, did not work (4-1). Found a external powered USB hub did not work (4-1). I think I'll purchase a headset , swap the cables out. Great deal 299?
  8. After scouring forums, looking for a cpu upgrade to 10700k , the 5800X3d seemed like a good option. Boy was I wrong. After whats been 1 week adventure in trying to get my headset to work, I found out that I (along with everyone else who was shipped the early revision headsets) have a defective revision 1 cable that doesnt work on x570 chipsets. HP told me that I need to replace the cable with a revision 2 version, but its out of stock, and I am out of warranty. (I confirmed googling that this will infact fix the issue.) Whats worse is I gave away my old gear and built a rig for someone else. No getting it back. Im now stuck with a non working reverb g2. I have tried different ports, hubs (external powered) dongles etc. I can get it to work sometimes, but lose sound . Also when I do get it to work, I gotta say 5800x3d seems overrated. But I have not done enough testing to confirm this. Not sure if performance was taking a hit because of garbage reverb g2 cable. Never never HP again. I should have known better.
  9. Hi , Im using it in VR (reverb g2) in heavy cpu intensive campaigns like liberation. I use openxr, and openxr toolkits, standalone dcs. I create a server and load the mission into server, then run main dcs to play through it, then upload the results once mission is ended. It uses different cores for the server so I do get a massive boost. Its virtually unplayable otherwise. However , cpu still struggles and bottlnecks . From everything Ive read so far 5800x3d cache seems to solve a ton of problems. BTW thank you for response.
  10. I am thinking about a ryzen 5800X3d . Currently running i7 10700k at 4.8ghz oc but running into alot of cpu-bound while running liberation (even while running a server to take cpu load off). Is there any imrpovement to be had here? (specs - 3090, 64 gigs ram) Thank You!
  11. Mistake. My original post actually is completely incorrect. (switching ports for usb c did nothing). What gave the huge performance boost was infact going from 90 hz to 60 hz in reverb g2 headset display settings. Now I did figure out a few really good tricks which DID work. I measured everything with fpsVR. First off, I had to switch to 60hz refresh. System (10700k and 2080ti) simply cant handle 90 hz in dcs. Otherwise I followed thuds guide and the new stuff on reverb g2 . Boosted computer with oc to cpu and video card which increased benchmark in heaven from 2k to 2.5k. However thuds gets one major thing wrong. It said to set pixel density (in DCS vr settings) to 1.0 , .9 or .8. SET IT TO .5 and INCREASE RESOLUTION IN STEAMVR SETTINGS! (I increased mine to 204%, 4540x4420 per eye). This seems to be the sweet spot for not maxing out GPU and getting chop (in caucus free flight- flying close to trees , buildings). SO MUCH BETTER! I You get smoother performance (measured via fpsVR as well as simply seeing it) and HIGHER resolution doing this. I followed pretty much everything else in thuds G2 guide. Of course a rtx 3080ti will probably blow this away but this works till then.
  12. Hi thank you for responding! Yes the saved games folder is under users : C:\Users\15702\Saved Games\DCS But only has these folders: Config data fxo imageshop kneeboard logs metashaders2 missioneditor missions movies screenshots tracks thats all the folders i have. I read somewhere that inorder to have a mods folder i need combined arms? Could that be the issue? Thank you in advance This is my campaigns folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Missions\Campaigns
  13. Installation: 1. Download Dynamic Campaign Engine and extract to "...\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\tech". 2. Download Battle Group Delta campaign and extract to "...\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\tech\DCE\Missions\Campaigns". Make sure that your install directory is 'Saved Games\DCS'. If you need to install it under DCS.OpenBeta: a) Adjust filepath in camp_init.lua from 'Saved Games\DCS to 'Saved Games\DCS.OpenBeta'. b) Edit FirstMission.bat to point to your DCS installation directory c) Run FirstMission.bat Can you please clarify. I do not have a saved games folder. I dont have a DCS\Mods folder. I dont have a Mods\tech folder. This is the closest I got to the mods folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods There are only 2 folders in my Mods folder : aircraft, terrains. Can someone confirm this mod wont work on the steam version? If i absolutely have to I will move to stand alone version. I pay a little more for stuff on steam but I dont have to hassle with licensing through DCS (Ive lost my a10 warthog and blackshark licenses so I started buying everything through steam).
  14. hi Mbot. Thank you! Just got done with work . Cant wait to try this out!
  15. Hello, what would be the best way to install this mod on steam version?
