Names for weapons release and cannons are switched in the controls setup
nomdeplume replied to Sporg's topic in Resolved Bugs
AFAIK, there's only one weapon release control - "Weapon Fire". The "Cannon" button makes the cannon the active weapon, but doesn't fire anything. i.e. there's no dedicated button for firing the guns and a separate pickle button for other munitions like on (most?) US aircraft. "Weapon change" doesn't appear to do anything, and I think might be an unused entry (i.e. no function for this aircraft, like flaps or L/R throttle controls). -
The rearm dialog doesn't work properly. I've seen it sort-of working, though I just started a new mission and it's immediately broken. FLARE and CHAFF slider grab handles are missing, and the amount says -1.#IND (probably cut off). Earlier it was working, but when I tried to adjust the flare amount it broke that slider. I've attached an image of the rearm dialog I'm getting at the moment.

[No bug] Wheel brakes crossed & other mechanics
nomdeplume replied to GADGET's topic in Resolved Bugs
Doesn't have flaps so they just need to remove that option from the command list. The airbrakes is known and like the gear up/down isn't working, but the toggle button is; so you can use that in the meantime. And the wheel brakes seem fine to me, didn't have to invert the axis though like I normally do; Saitek pro flight pedals. -
Main game options, Gameplay tab. It can also be set on a per-mission basis, but if you select the "Use these options for all missions" option at the bottom of the dialog it'll always use your settings. ... Unless you connect to a server, in which case the server can override your settings.

You can also use the event handlers to find out when static objects (like buildings) are hit and destroyed. It's a bit fiddly though as the only unique information you get about the scenery objects is their hitbox, so you have to just work out if the box is within a particular location. I think MiST has functions to do that for you though. Also pretty cool thing I found from a test mission I've been working on - if you hit a scenery building with enough firepower it'll explode right away, but if you hit it with less it'll catch fire and then collapse a few minutes later. Pretty cool detail, I thought!

When you fire up DCS World 1.5, is it successfully logging into your account? You should see your username at the top of the screen, just to the right of the Module Manager / Options / Exit buttons. If not, that's probably the first thing you'll want to try to fix. If you are logged in to your account, what happens if you enter the Module Manager from the main menu? Does the A-10C show up under your list of "Installed" modules, or under the list of "Modules"? If it is "Installed" - does it have a tick next to it? The above is in reference to my system - but if you're using a Steam version of DCS World things might work a bit different and it might not need to log in to a DCS account for your modules to be available. Either way: you should not need to re-purchase the A-10C, and you don't need to buy any DLC campaign in order for the A-10C to be available in your installation.

This post has a detailed list, per-pylon, as well as 'standard' real-world A-G configurations: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=148288#3 Excerpt:

It only automatically checks for updates once a day or so. There should be a shortcut in your start menu called "Update DCS World OpenBeta" which will force an update check.

If you go to the game options, MISC settings tab, there's a dropdown for Coordinate Display which allows you to set the format for coordinates shown in the in-game map and also in the mission editor. In the mission editor, the coordinates of your cursor are shown in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. You can set it to lat/long, lat/long with decimal minutes, or MGRS.

If you find you're missing MSVC DLL files, it'd be better to install the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable rather than downloading DLL files from some website. The MSVCR120.dll etc. are provided by the Visual C++ 2013 runtime. (You should only require the x64 version for DCS, since it's now only a 64-bit program.)

Trees are not collidable / don't have geometry / i.e. are still transparent to the AI in the Black Sea map. The collision models for them are only on the NTTR map, and hopefully newer maps going forward.

You can disable it by setting a theme. Either click on one of your activated modules at the bottom and select "Set wallpaper", or go to the Options menu, Misc tab, and use the theme selector at the bottom of the screen. Once you've got a theme selected, the menu background will be a static image.

I don't think the game has any in-built support for responding to chat commands, so this one is probably something to do with SLmod or some other server-side modification?
-
They released an updated version of the updater, Version 2.5.1, so this is probably what you saw. It's a very small and fast update.

Here's my guess. Wikipedia says North Korea have Shenyang FT-2 trainer aircraft, which is apparently the Chinese production of the MiG-15UTI (a dual-seat, dual-controller variant). Here's a shot of the MiG-15UTI instruments. Seems fairly close. If it's not that one, maybe some other MiG-15 variant?

Aircraft in server list but not available to fly
nomdeplume replied to VAF [136] Striker's topic in Mission Editor Issues
If you're still having this issue would you be able to upload an example mission? -
Adding mark points/target points for the A-10?
nomdeplume replied to Fishbreath's topic in Mission Editor Issues
You can place Initial Points (IPs) using the "Initial Point Object" button underneath the static objects button (bridge icon) in the toolbar. These won't be in the flight plan but will be in the system starting with waypoint #51, before the airfields. You can switch the system to "Mission" mode so you can cycle through all your waypoints, or use the CDU to access them in the usual ways. The JTAC script can sometimes reference these locations when giving instructions, maybe. -
As far as I know, all aircraft are affected, and I imagine it's probably a known bug given how visible it is.
-
Noticed this too, and also found it only occurs with the triple LAU-68 launchers. Single LAU-68 are fine, and single- and triple- LAU-131 launchers are fine. Only affects the M151 rockets. Edit: added a screenshot with relevant tooltip. Opposite station has M157s with LAU-68s.

Is it possible to see your flight route inside a mission?
nomdeplume replied to tale's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I think the show routes is button is for ground units. At least if you have the appropriate view options set and you click on a ground group you can see its path. Never seen anything similar for air units. -
Just to be sure, the aircraft you're placing is also on red side, right? :) You could maybe try putting down some of the support vehicles (e.g. Ural-375), maybe that's what the radio menu is looking for to know if it can provide ground crew? They shouldn't be necessary for an airbase AFAIK but I always put them in anyway. Alternatively it might be blacked out because the comms system isn't online. Which key are you using to bring up the menu? I think there's probably a different key for the comms menu in general (\, maybe) and for the radio mic switch. Might make sense if the options are 'disabled' if you're using the radio, but they still 'hear' you anyway if you have your engines off. Edit: though I've just tried and failed to reproduce this, using a Ka-50.

Have you tried either using the manual update shortcut to get it to check again, or the repair shortcut? Failing that you could try deleting the autoupdate.cache file from your Saved Games\DCS folder. (I don't have one, but perhaps it gets removed after an update is finished?)

Yeah, too few characters technically. ;) Fixed the link in my post.

In the DCS directory, bin\ModelViewer.exe. Like the game itself, the working directory needs to be set to the base DCS install directory. Easiest way is to create a shortcut to the ModelViewer.exe somewhere convenient (e.g. your desktop), and modify the properties to set the working directory to the DCS install dir. Once you've got it running, to view a model: File -> Load model... browse to Bazar\World\Shapes in your DCS install directory, and select the .edm file to load (e.g. a-10.edm for the A-10C). Hey presto, there's an A-10 with the default skin. Left-click and drag the viewing window to rotate, right-click and drag to zoom. To view different liveries, View -> Dialogs -> Show Liveries Dialog, select the appropriate object in the left side, the livery you want to see in the right side, and click Load Livery at the bottom. If I recall correctly, you can hit 'load livery' again after replacing the texture files to view the new textures, which is really handy if you're creating or editing skins. Much easier to hit F10 for the map, select a ground vehicle you want to look at (or near the terrain you want to look at), then hit F7 for the ground vehicle orbit camera. Then Ctrl+11 will put you into the free camera so you can roam around. Might need to enable external views and allow the f10 map to show all units in the options menu. Also you can look at DCS Witchcraft. Once set up, you can run your mission, then use a web browser to change the position of objects in real-time. Once you're happy, you can download an updated version of your mission file with the new positions of your units, and resuming editing from there. There's a tutorial video here. Also, DCS World 2.0 allegedly will combine the UI and game into a single exe, so hopefully we might see 3D previews of skins/loadouts and such one day. Perhaps even in-game terrain shown in the editor. One can hope. :)

More information would be needed to reproduce this and therefore fix it. I've seen it on a video I watched recently, but not encountered it myself. Airbases should be listed in order of distance (closest first), and possibly with hostile bases filtered out (haven't checked that, I'm not usually looking at the ATC menu near enemy airfields). Next time you find it's missing, can you check on the F10 map to see if it's owned by your coalition? You could also try landing there, and see if you can access ground services (repair, rearm, etc.). And maybe take a screenshot of the map view showing the ATCs listed in the comms menu, and your location with respect to the other airfields (especially the missing one).
