  1. Probably there is a switch which sets FCS limits for high performance or limited for heavy loading. Caution is raised when switch position doesn't match loading. Usually AA missiles and centerline fuel tank are OK for maximum limits while other fuel tanks, bombs are not.

If you start with bombs or wing fuel tanks and jettison does caution come on? Probably it won't come on if you start with only centerline fuel tank and then jettison that.

Yes, that sounds reasonable, but it's a centerline tank...If I'm going full AB at say, angels 25, and I drop the tank, I usually get the caution...One time I forgot to drop the tank and was running low on fuel...I got a caution that said EXT. XFER...which I guess stands for "External Transfer"...I have no idea what that means but when I finally dropped the empty centerline fuel tank, the caution disappeared...strange

  2. Sorry but no bug.

You are using the brakes ALL THE TIME. Check your pedals.

Yep, somehow my brakes were engaged, because I never use them for carrier landings...maybe pedals need calibration, but for whatever reason they were slightly depressed...I took control of the track and then saw that my brakes were on....so SORRY I SAID IT WAS BUG...YOU WERE ALL RIGHT, I WAS WRONG...FORGIVE ME :(

  3. A "bug" that nobody else appears to be experiencing. Good luck with getting that fixed.

Maybe keep practising and perhaps make sure that you raise the hook so that it disengages when the tension goes out of the cable, as in the video that I linked?

Did you watch it? The hook raises after the trap by itself...why? Don't know...just out of curiosity, why don't you download my track, then take control of it and let's see if there's a different outcome...plus I can see your expert landing and learn from it

  4. the cable will be under far too much pressure for the deck crew to be able to unhook it, even if they didn't mind losing limbs in the process.

if you watch RL videos, and maybe trust the people that have already offered advice, you will see that the aircraft unhook themselves, in the manner described by @ESAC_mirmidon, allowing the cable to return ready for the next arrival and your aircraft to taxi out of the way.

will save you searching for a video.

Tension on the cable was released if you watch the track..the wire should have disengaged...bug

  5. The deck crew doesn't unhook. Trap, full throttle for 4 sec, idle, raise your hook.

But they would IRL...right? And are you saying that this is a "feature"? I would think that the penalty for not using enough (and btw, I do use thrust on carrier landings) thrust while catching a wire, would be a quick jump into the ocean on a bolter.

  6. Don't touch the brakes, I've done that accidentally before. You can get out of it sometimes going to full throttle then back to nil throttle.

Only time I put my feet on the brakes while on a carrier is when I'm lining up on the cat...and that's all, or taxi

  7. ALWAYS when you trap the wire add full throttle and then IDLE, this adds forward momentum to the Hornet and tension to the wire and at IDLE the plane will move backwards releasing the hook.

So you're saying the apparent lack of full throttle and then immediate Idle caused this? And the deck crew will not unhook me because I didn't use enough full throttle? Hmmm

  8. Looks like those are videos captured by Nvidia Shadow Play

Yep, I have ShadowPlay also...it saves the last "x" minutes (you set the option) of play by hitting a combination of key presses...you can change the macro to whatever...but it appears that your "save video" macro for ShadowPlay videos is overlapping with assigned key presses in DCS...not sure what the default macro was, but mine is ALT + F10...my photo capture is ALT + F1 which is also HUD ONLY DCS function...so I only use that when on the ground for desktop wallpapers

  9. I’ve never seen one up when I landed but if your on a server it may be caused by someone making it happen and not being respectful enough to others to put it back down. In my experience, you can issue the “abort takeoff” call and it will go back down. That or very carefully position yourself in front of it and launch. It’ll go down after launch.

You can't issue "abort anything" when you're gliding in on the deck and you see a JBD up on the wires...watch the YT videos on this thread, especially the second one https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=217942

    nope, don't play on servers

  11. I'll check it out shortly. Is the track made in the latest version?

I believe so...are these TRK files dated? I posted the file the same day it happened...or you could check the referred post date...thanks...oh, btw take a look at the YT linked videos...the second one was the ending of the trk file that you'll be looking at...also, when I watch my trk files, I always watch them without interference as this happened with the A10C way back when...the only thing I might do is use the speed increaser (fast forward). If using functions during playback contribute to a player "breaking" the replay, then by all means please have ED warn the consumers so you don't miss an opportunity to squash bugs...I see occasional bug reports with "MISSING TRACK FILE"...well, if the players are "breaking them" I can see why they're missing. The problem I was trying to have investigated was not limited to my experience...others have offered similar instances...if there's anything else you need (my hardware, etc.), please feel free to ask...thanks again

  12. The problem here is that when you see a bug, you are asked to provide a track...well, if the method of providing evidence of a bug, is itself bugged, what's the point? I have a nVidia card that uses its own video capture (ShadowPlay)...I had a problem I wanted checked into...I submitted the ShadowPlay video of the two minutes of recorded time within the sim that had the problem...ED wanted a track instead...I did have the track that the problem occured on saved but warned them, that the track was VERY long and I thought it was unreliable as I have seen these track corruptions before...anyway, I submitted the track and never got confirmation from ED..I went back to watch the TRK file and, of course, it had me ploughing into a bunch of parked planes on the carrier deck...so why would they confirm it? Pointless

  13. I think the biggest issue still is that the TDC starts out in the top left corner. Takes ages to get it on a target and despite the patch notes listing AACQ working, it doesn't. But that's another issue on it's own.

I'd really like to know from one of the many real Hornet drivers on this board if it's the real deal to have the TDC always reset to the top left corner...

I don't mind the cursor being in the top left corner (parked position) when I start ATTK RDR, but I hate it when after "releasing" a target, the damn cursor flies up to the top left...Why can't it just stay where you had it?

  14. That's a good question. I don't know limitations for AT.

What about AT with one engine inoperative?

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but I assumed it would just raise or lower the working engine RPM to whatever it needed to maintain the speed you were at, the moment you engaged ATC...BUT, with, let's say, you have enough FCS damage, that you needed more power from one engine than the other to compensate (i.e. trimming would not suffice), how would the ATC handle this?

  15. If you have a throttle with two or more engine thrust levers and you have set them at different percentage levels of thrust, how does ATC (or engaging ATC) react to this? Does it keep the different thrust levels as you have set them, or does it even them out while trying to maintain a current air speed?

  16. That again depends on the ROE for the Theater of Operations. Visual ID has been the go-to requirement for some time in the recent conflicts that the US has been involved in. I cannot speak for other nations as I am unfamiliar with their philosophies when not working in conjunction with US forces.

I see, and that's why I mentioned ROE (Rules of Engagement) a couple posts back when another poster mentioned "some sort of clear separation" before going Fox 2 or Fox 3...in the end, the pilot makes his decision based on his sense of sight and his instincts...there is no mechanical lock or gate that opens when ROE conditions are EXACTLY met, which allow the firing of the ordinance...so, sorry I wandered off topic, but I still am of the opinion that the "maddog method" is something akin to "ejecting"...you never want to use it, but it's there for last resort...thanks for the convo....lots of wise information to be gleaned from you guys...thanks again
