nope screwed up as expected

I think an argument can be made for keeping the steering dot inside your circle...doing so, helps you to get a better angle on the target if we have to go to guns, at least it does for me :)

Make sure you have "T/R" selected on the UFC. If it's "RCV", you'll only get bearing.
Oh, that's a good tip... ty..shouldn't it be T/R by default...some of the options on this platform, whether the real F18 works this way or not, have an annoying habit of resetting themselves to the default, when it is clear the setting you last had is more conducive to handy operation...like, for instance, how the TDC cursor bars snap back to its park position instead of staying in the same area of the screen you last had it...

Have not fired up after update yet, but the time/date stamp on the lua files has not changed
Thanx HB...that is a good sign

Thanks Joey...will wait for a couple others to weigh in first

Oh okey i found why its off.. I should fly first :/ .. Admins you can delete this topic <3 sorry
Don't forget to be Master Arm On as well

Fine on this end.
So, no changes or remapping to the Lua files?

Ok, could you please let us know when you do try it, whether or not we need to re-assign our control device functions...I put off updating the last one, due to the mis-identification of the control devices....

Before I update, are the control profiles affected? Or did ED fix this?
-
When you save it, save it as something different as well, I am pretty sure it will be replaced if you save over the original next time you update the game.
Oh, yeah, that's a good point...thanks

Yes, you can open that mission in ME, edit it and save (or save as) it.
Missions are located here:
DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Missions\QuickStart
So that's where those little devils were hiding...thanks ==4C=Nikola

This may or may not work for you, but I use a modifier + hat for my autopilot. I hit Mod+Hat Down to set the UFC on AP mode, then mod+hat left/up/right to go through whatever modes you want.
Modifier + Hat Down = "UFC Function Selector Pushbutton - A/P"
Modifier + Had Left = "UFC Option Select Pushbutton 2"
Modifier + Had Up = "UFC Option Select Pushbutton 1"
Modifier + Had Right = "UFC Option Select Pushbutton 3"
Is your modifier set through the game controls or thru your stick software?

Is it possible? I'm doing a practice mission where I use the Carrier I Landing Instant Action mission....I land on the carrier, rearm and refuel set a new waypoint using UFC to Khasab (sp?) airfield base (neutral), set comms, take off from Stennis land at Khasab take off from there and land back on the carrier....It works pretty well except that there doesn't seem to be a ground crew at Khasab...The ATC is there but I cannot refuel or rearm....I'd like to expand the mission to include A2A on my way back to the carrier, so I'd like to do some payload editing while at Khasab...I have tried using the ME but cannot find the IA missions....any way to do this other than starting from scratch with the ME...Not really interested in jumping into that at the moment...thanks

Yes I tried that but doesn't seem to work (I don't think it's actually a programmed feature (?) )
dual throttle axis (not one for each like the TM warthog).
You could try setting a deadzone on your thrust axes (4-5)
-
Did you try Engine Heat switch next to Pitot? Sounds like you're getting the Inlet Ice problem...does your throttle use a two axis engine thrust levers one for each engine?
-
I've experienced that before, Were you Master Arm on? Was there an X over the Profile Tab top middle of RWR page that you had up? But let me be the first to throw this excuse into the ring..."It's a W.I.P."
-
can I assume then when told "Castle hat up" means Sensor Select switch fwd?
Yep, just be aware, the opposite of Castle UP is not Down...it's AFT....Down is TGT Designate...it can be briefly confusing

Just reading the title I somehow hoped for something that somehow can make real bad rain and storm clouds... must be the Arabian Heat we have right now in the middle of Europe... Quarter past Ten pm and temps down to 35°C already...

Just saw a video on a new "bomb" as they called it, though it looks more like a cruise missile. It can penetrate sandstorms and other severe weather to track and find bad guys via millimeter wave radar, IR, and Laser Track designate. They say the Super bug E and F variants will get them soon. Is this new or old news?

You sure about that ejection speed. I'm pretty sure it's been safe to eject over Mach since the 60's/70's
No, I'm not but that number always seemed to stick in my head...but when I do a search I only get the extreme incidents...like "there have been six or seven pilots who have survived ejection at mach speeds...well, maybe so, but is it the "recommended" speed
-
Problem is, you gotta slow down to eject...anything over 300 KTS is usually fatal for ejection. But slowing down makes you an easier target for guns in a furball...maybe some sort of auto ejection if it has been monitored that the pilot is unconscious and conditions are safe to eject...

Been testing out the damage model on the hornet and notice that it is very easy to get KILLED. Even slow traveling missiles such as r-73's mostly kill you before you can even eject where as with other aircraft such as the 15, 2000, 29, 27 you are shot down but can eject. Is this because the Hornet is less armored than these jets or is it because they are still working out the damage model? I am certainly not arguing with the fact that if you are hit by a missile you are going down, what I am saying though is that you should have a better chance of surviving said impact given the condition.
I agree with ya...

Guys,
is it possible to order my wingman (AI) to hold the cruise formation?
Whenever i fly sorties with a AI-Buddy and give him the order "return to formation", it takes lots of time ´till he comes to somethimg we could call "formation". But that´s nothing comparable to the cruise formation...
Rgds
Stefan
Use the "Loiter Here" command.....sry, jk

I am trying to understand this thread.
187 posts regarding an alpha software change that can be dealt with in 10 minutes tops by simply remapping.
Does that mean I should be looking in my DCS World Open.Alpha folder for files to modify?

Well you can't use it at low altitudes...I fired two at a tanker at around angels 3 and range of about 8 nm...both took a swim
