Can I get a clue on what I'm supposed to go to report on the cars? I hit F10 and I'm taken to the map screen.

Matt, What are your thoughts of using much higher quality audio for the external aircraft engine sounds. For fly by, takeoffs or just stationary. As in any game including dcs, the engine sounds are muffled. As we all know, these engines screech when heard in person. Perhaps this is achievable using a much higher bit and kHz quality if possible. Seems like a lot of work but I want my aircraft in game to sound like the real thing.

I'd love to have the 30mm gun as a ringtone but in doing so, someone might think I'm passing gas when it goes off....not what I'm looking for in a ringtone....

Nicely done! Congrats!

I was curious to know what the plans are if any to help promote this game when the boxed version comes out. My idea: I'd love to bring the game and hardware into my local seller like Frys and demo it for the weekend of release. Sat/Sun? This could be a good promotion for not just the DCS series but also IR Tracker, Thrustmaster etc and any other related hardware/software vendors. Would ED be willing to work with the community here to set up small demo stations when the game is released? It seems rather inexpensive and considering the dedicated community here, it would be rather inexpensive. Thoughts? What other ideas can we do to help promote this great sim?!

New SP/MP Mission: "Full Frontal"
Avatar72 replied to Bahger's topic in User Created Missions General
Again, +1 rep for the mission. I gave this one a try and for the first time, I finished one of your missions, even on the first try. I enjoyed it. Run time was just over one hour. Cant wait to try it again. Forgot to mention, I lost my wingman on approach. I SPI broadcast to him the first SA launcher and told him to attach my SPI while 14 miles out. He flew into it and got shot down. I had to do everything myself. -
Got a trackIR?....No? Add $150.00 :D

Getting wingman to broadcast SPI to you?
Avatar72 replied to Pigmachine's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
WarriorX, Thank you for the reply. I am aware of the SPI symbol from a wingman in the TAD. I think its a smaller version of my SPI symbol. Again, I've never seen it but thats because I never sent one to my wingman. The scenario you describe though is the exact opposite of what I'm trying to accomplish. I want my wingman's SPI to transfer to me from a target he found on his own, not one I have marked and sending to him that is rebroadcast back to me. Again, think of BS where our wingman would send back targeting info from a recon. I hope this makes sense. -
Getting wingman to broadcast SPI to you?
Avatar72 replied to Pigmachine's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Do you mean literally as he engages targets or when he's spotting targets, of which there can be many. It seems the only thing that is transfered over SADL are SPIs... both ways. So they must be engaing or are about to enage the target.. I've had my group NET setting to 01 and never received targets from my wingman...ever. I had the JTRS set to on. It's like the wingman never has his SPI broadcast on. So, if my JTRS is on and my group ID=01 which I'm assuming my wingman is set to, what else is missing? I dont think the wingman ever proactively broadcasts a target as SPI. Its like I have to tell him to attack mine or give directions to attack a random ground target first. Maybe after I do that, he makes one of the targets' his SPI, but it doesnt get transfered to me. Its not like in BS where I can send my wingman out to recon and he sends me multiple targets to save. -
New, full-featured SP Mission: "Midnight Run"
Avatar72 replied to Bahger's topic in User Created Missions General
Hmmmm. Looking at the ingame briefing, it said to contact AFAC Dodge 2 on the frequency I listed earlier. I dont see anything on the ingame briefing for 30.00FM ....ok...This is amusing. Your mission is called Midnight Run. I knew that loading the game. I went to missions and clicked the first Midnight mission I saw....Midnight Train to Georgia...:) -
New, full-featured SP Mission: "Midnight Run"
Avatar72 replied to Bahger's topic in User Created Missions General
Ok, I take off, set my radio to 140.00 and contact JTAC and they tell me no tasking is available. The directions say to contact before reaching WP4 so I contact them after reaching WP3 and this is what I get. I also tried much earlier and got the same result. What could I possibly be missing? -
If money is really an issue, dont forget to look for a HOTAS with rudder control. The previously mentioned Saitek X52 has this. This way you dont have to throw down another 100-200 for a single axis controller.

Where do you get HSI bearing for landings?
Avatar72 replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
So hopefully in RL, a pilots divert page on the CDU is more accurate, otherwise they must take out their AAA maps, fold it open and find the correct heading with a compass and protractor :) or use similar paper documetation... -

Where do you get HSI bearing for landings?
Avatar72 replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
ok. I see the 125/305. That still doesnt make the training mission any easier to understand where it gets the 130. So really, I should be using the headings on the the charts with the small text running along the runway chart, not the runway number. -
Where do you get HSI bearing for landings?
Avatar72 replied to Avatar72's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I actually have the airport charts. So the HSI heading must be matched to the airport headings? That's the trick? I think I see, the training mission has me landing at Batumi on runway 13. So adding the 0 makes 130. If I were landing the other direction, I would set it to 310 since the other side is 31. I understand now. -
I went back to the training mission for landing for a refresher. After calling inbound and recieving my approach information, the traning mission then tells you to put in you ILS settings. Then it tells you to change the bearing on the HSI to 130. where does this information come from? More to the point, when I want to land anywhere, how do I know what bearing the HSI should have? Is it related to the heading of the runway itself?

AH-64D....No more Schval/TGP....I want my targets to be easier to find PLZ!!

I think thats what he's referring to as the friction lever. The far right lever is the friction lever in the real WH, not the turn knob at the top. I'm using right side lever for my zoom. Unfortunately it suffers the same jittering shaking effect other rotary style control get from DCS games (like BS). Very frustrating. All you need to do is go to Zoom control in the axis controls and activate that lever for the game to recognize it.
-
This helped thank you. +1 For me the upper extremity is lower than 179. I tried 170 and that is a bit too high but I'll find a nice average. One thing I dont understand is why when using my tension wheel axis (TM Warthog) for zooming, I'm getting the same jittering effect as we did with BS. The jittering when using rotary for zoom. This was NOT an issue in the Beta builds for me. It's like they they dropped the same zoom control from BS into the final release for whatever reason.

I see. Yea that's exacly what I do so that is a good question. I thought Nate was answering your original question not mine. I dont want to hijack this thread so hopefully someone can still answer you as it concerns me too. Hopefully that setting is not hard coded. UPDATE: NM looks like Nate was answering your question. I guess I have two more files to edit.

If you dont mind me asking, where do you change the FOV upon entering the cockpit? Since I started eyefinity, I'm eating the UFC at the default view. I have to full zoom out.
-
Is anyone else having these issues? I dont know if its related to running in eyefinity but I noticed the main GUI screen started to look like this when I eventually turned on eyefinity. It might be hard to notice as a small image but its a lot worse in full screen. This is inside the cockpit. Its the warning panel. I dont know when this started to happen
