found this snippet about this pic :
"TORNADO CREATES AMAZING 'CLOUD' EFFECT
A Tornado fighter bomber pulls up, while moving at high speed, causing
a stall (a transient high-speed stall). The drop in air pressure
around the wings causes the moisture in the air to condense and, in
effect, form instant clouds. Jet fighters breaking the sound barrier,
particularly when over water, often cause the same effect. In the case
of the Tornado, the condition is enhanced by the swing wings
automatically moving to adjust for the stall condition. "

chp, lol true, on my gigabyte nforce2 motherboard i do indeed have the LPT port, COM1 and 2 disabled and when i did a fresh reinstall of windows i changed the APIC to PIC (so i don't get an abmornal amount of IRQs)........also, ensuring that the PCI soundcard is in slot3 (slot5 can work too i've heard)on the motherboard stops alot of issues, AGP cards hate IRQ conflicts and can be a prime reason for sound/FPS problems on some peoples machines

i recently discovered this little beauty here http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951 this PCI Latency tool enabled me to drop my overexcessive 255clks on my ATi Radeon 9700pro down to a more sensible 64clks, and now i get stutter and static free gameplay and more stable FPS (not higher though) oh and if you use ATI Tray Tools you can do the same from within that prog too

X:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config\graphicsd.cfg, second from bottom line "//MaxFPS = 60;" think those // need to be removed for it to work :-)
Multiplayer server killer bug
in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Posted
just want to bring to ED's attention a bug in LOMAC which can kill the server, i'll try my best to explain what it is.....has anyone noticed the dramatic server wide FPS drops in certain servers? well i think it's a bug with the RECOVER option....when someone dies, their old aircraft stays in the game warping through the terrain at incredible speeds, but pressing F2 view also shows the same person respawned spooling up on the apron.
over time, if it goes unchecked, the FPS steadly starts to drop eventually resulting in screen freezes and other unpleasent things, such as a total server lock-up....oh, and this can be an absolute nightmare when the externals are off, you have no way of telling if it's occuring or not until the FPS starts to fall......
