  1. hi, good timing of this thread, i currently consider upgrading from a 24" monitor. regarding tv: since i own a 55" tv i hooked it up thinking it would be the logical step. everything was pretty cool except for the input lag i experienced. true, when flying planes in dcs it was noticable but not too bad, since things are moving slowly anyhow, i suppose. still, compared to my monitor a definite step back. my tv is a samsung ue55 f6170. supposedly input lag is somewhere around 40ms? so, how do you experience input lag? is it noticable at all? and if you don't notice anything what's the lag of your tv? many thanks
  2. hi, behold my graphical skillz! from the manual: that means the limitation cone has an angle of 120 degrees (see attachment). i added the distance (radius of the cones base) for various altitudes: flying at 10000m the rwr would detect a radar signal up to 17 km of a target flying at sea level.
  3. so this is the main theater map: http://i.imgur.com/gJbX4MY.jpg grids are 100x100 km interestingly gridlines aren't numbered, i'll maybe add that later. also, the map was distorted, i had to stretch it vertically to make the grids square. the smaller scale map might take a while. must be a puzzle of about ~180 pieces i need to put together. not sure i have the nerves, though. really, why can't a map be provided that can be more easily be used. anyhow...
  4. i wish for kneeboard maps that aren't distorted (stretched vertically) and have a scale on it to be able to make range estimations. and then i'd much appreciate it if they could be downloaded as a package. thx
  5. nice one, thank you so much :-) i downloaded the plugin and am fotoshopping all the map pieces together now.
  6. thx. meanwhile i found the folder containing all the airport maps. but this is what i still haven't found anywhere: by that i mean the maps that are shown in the kneeboard with the flightplan on them. there are maps in 3 different scales. i'd really like to be able to use a map with a scale on it in order to make range estimations. since there isn't a scale on them by default i was thinking to maybe edit it if possible.
  7. hi, where can i find the default kneeboard maps? i'd like to customize the kneeboard to include only those maps and pages i need for the specific mission. also, i'd like to edit the default kneeboard maps to show the scale of the map. is that possible? thx in advance for any help. blueskunk
  8. this won't answer the op question but here's a turn performance graph for the su27. i can't recall where i got it from. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=13yqgr6&s=8#.VZzbaPl0lmE my understanding is this: according to the graph (given weight, altitude of the plane) the su27 will: perform the fastest turn on 8g's at approx 670 km/h (not sustainable) perform sustainable 6g turn at approx 620 km/h (green line) for my own (!) practical purposes, during a dogfight i try to keep my speed somwhere between 600-750 km/h no matter what weight/altitude i'm at. i will only pull a tighter turn when i'm seeing a good opportunity for a killshot because afterwards, when my speed has dropped below that margin it takes a while to regain it. i'm not entirely sure if my interpretation of the graph or my approach is correct, so any advice is appreciated. as for other planes, i assume similar graphs for other planes can be found with some googling but since i mainly fly the su27 i can't tell for sure. as for the manuals, i'd certainly appreciate if this data would be included. cheers edit: ironhand's video on corner speed: at 13:15 he talks about corner speed for su27 being 520-710 km/h IAS and 330-430 kts IAS for the f15.
  9. me and my buddy bought the campaign only to find out we cannot edit it to play it in coop mode. that was unexpected since the default su-27 campaign, fortress mozdok, can be edited no problem. bummer...
  10. hi, are there su27 manuals other than the 143 page english flight manual (http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/250310/manuals/DCS_Su-27_Flight_Manual_EN.pdf?t=1417046009)? I'm aware of a 281 page spanish version but can't find a translation of that one (http://www.cruzdesanandres.com/material/esadocs/Manual_Su27SK.pdf). the english version is not too comprehensive i find and doesn't provide much information about flight procedures and tactics. many thanks edit: any ideas how to translate a pdf file?
  11. thx for the info! i never tried the editor. it sounds interesting, i'll look into it. cheers :-) edit: just managed to add more slots, i just copy/pasted the player plane plus waypoints. how can i get a slot to respawn?
  12. hi as the title says. i can't seem to find any coop missions or campaigns for the su27. any help? much appreciated
  13. hi i'm playing dcs on a 24" monitor but want to upgrade. there are a few questions that hopfully someone can answer: 1. if i go for a 3 monitor setup is dcs still going to be distorted at the outer (right/left) areas of the screen? that's something i've seen in other games and it is totally putting me off the 3 monitor idea. the only game i am aware of that allows complete adjustment of monitor angles, distance to player, bezel width etc, and therefore eliminating distortion is iracing. 2. if i go for a 3 monitor setup, would anyone recommend mounting the monitors vertically? i could imagine having some more up/down-view might be helpful. 3. what about a large tv? 55" for example (i have one at home, that's why i'm asking) or is that a complete waste of effort? is anyone flying on a large tv screen? i understand that resolution isn't awesome, but personally i'm not seeking top fidelity but rather immersion. my grf settings are med/low anyway as is. 4. or should i consider a bigger monitor instead? is a 27" monitor making much of a difference? that would be very affordable. thanks so much for any feedback. cheers
  14. hi gents, i have no multiplayer experience but i'm looking for an english speaking, euro based squadron but also flight-buddies i can join. i currently fly the su27 in a/a mode primarily but have some experience with the a10c and f15c, too. consider me a motivated rookie who is willing to learn and put some time in. i have hotas and mic. looking forward to your pm
  15. troubles continue... i now made a seperate install of the a-10c so i can at least practise singleplayer. what i cannot do however is install bs2 or fc3 as those only run through dcs world. i'm now trying a steam dcs world install to see whether fc3, bs2 or the a10c run through that. still wondering why i get this error message: http://postimg.org/image/x8hl39a4b/ ...
  16. thx for the infos. i just returned home and gave it a try: started out like a charm. but install was ended with this error message: http://postimg.org/image/x8hl39a4b/ ?? the mystery continues...
  17. unfortunately it doesn't. i purchased above mentioned modules via steam, except the a10c, which i own a hardcopy of (i use the download version for install, though). it's just bizarre that half the modules install without a hitch, and just the a10c and ka50 give me this error. both downloads show the same version number in the file name as the dcs world version. (i did download all of it 2 days ago). i'm really starting to get put off by all that. i can't remember having ever had so much trouble getting any kind of software installed.... customer service sucks, too. i sent a ticket originally when i had my issue getting the a10c installed. no response. and now with everything downloaded from their site, all keys available for all modules parts of it just won't work. having to rely on workarounds from helpful costumers is just plain wrong. i'd still be glad for some other ideas to help me out. cheers all.
  18. so i purcheased the huey, p51, combined arms and the blackshark2 and i have install problems again. i started with a fresh install of the latest dcs world and downloaded all modules from the website. all installs and activations went fine except the a10c and the ka50. there i get the message that i need the latest dcs world to be installed which it is. what to do? ... thx for any help
  19. profit indeed!! this did it: thanks so much for all the help! onwards :pilotfly:
  20. after some research i followed your suggestion: the program conducted an update and when i started dcs world i had the a10c button without the $-symbol. hooray, i thought :-) i selected a quick mission, selected the a10c and i received the following error message when i was prompted to enter my serial number: the mission then does start up but only in observer mode. again, i have the a10c installed from a cd plus dcs world from the steam download. i also downloaded the a10c module from the dcs main site but couldn't install it because of dcs world having a newer build than their a10c module. any suggestions, please?
  21. so, in the last days i flew a bit with the a10c (my hardcopy installation) and just now thought to hop into dcs world and fly the su25t. without having touched anything a window pops up asking for my a10c serial number. great, i thought, there's the expected update but this is what i get: back to single player...
