I have the headset connected directly to the computer. Don't have wifi on my PC. I have USB-C 10Gig cable Don't have Wifi on my PC. I connect my headset via USB-C 10Gig cable
-
Okay cool thanks, don't see what Wifi has to do with anything as both my router and switch are rated for 1Gig. My computer is in my bedroom and my switch, router and modem are in a small closet rack with lines running through the house. Kind of like how you would see in a small business setup. The wifi is only used for my printer, phones, and tablet. Everything else is connected to the switch. Fully agree, and that's what I pointed out earlier. If people going to come on and act the way they have been, then they going to leave the admins no choice but to close this thread and all others like it. Then nobody will have a say in anything. When I get my Taxes in, first thing I'm going to buy is Helldivers 2. FOR DEMOCRACY! Yeah, kind of broke at the moment lolz.

Question regarding VD. My computer is connected to a switch which is connected to the router, both via 1Gig Cat6 ethernet cable, both switch and router are Gigabit. Would that work for VD? Thinking of giving it a go. For me the Oculus app works with the workaround but if it's better in performance would love to give it a try, especially since I heard you can do augmented reality with it as well. Hard to see my Thrustmaster MFD's in VR, have to literally feel for them lol.

Honestly, everyone needs to chillaxe regarding this. What's done is done. Either be patent and wait a little bit more and stop acting like the devs at ED are doing nothing just because you can't have something you want when you want it. Yes, as consumers and gamers, it's frustrating to not be able to play something we enjoy to its fullest for a while. I understand that, but pouring fuel on the fire and criticizing when the devs are doing this to make sure you have the ability to play while making sure everything works in my opinion is being very ungrateful for all the hard work, they are putting into this. So either wait for the patch, go play something, or go find something else to do in the meantime. I can almost guarantee that if the ridicule continues the only thing it's going to do is cause the admins to close all threads relating to anything about it, then nobody will be able to say anything regardless. So everyone just chill and wait.
-
That worked for me, initially it wasn't so I just uninstalled everything Oculus related, reinstalled it and obviously backed up the main folders before I copied in the new ones so I'm able to revert once the patch is up. But yeah, loaded up into VR just fine once I copied the 3 folders over.

Well no one told you to do that #1. Also buying 1 thing for the sole purpose of playing 1 game... so that sounds more of a "you" problem than anything else. I'm going to go on a limb and say you have no experience in computer programming, if I'm wrong than so be it. So not really right for everyone to keep saying ED is doing a "extremely poor to fix an issue" when 98-99% of people on here don't know anything about programming Now, everyone has a right to complain yes. Though once the issue has been addressed that they know that the patch has been delayed, it does no one any good to come on and continue to at this point, which it seems is to insult the developers saying they're not doing a good job just because people want to act like spoiled children crying because they can't get what they want when they want it. Would you rather them release the patch now and something else breaks because everyone is being that impatent. It's your choice to not play the game in an alternative way, and that is 100% your choice. Though coming on and just like I stated earlier saying that ED is not doing a good job when you obviously again, if I'm wrong I apologize but seem to know nothing at all when it comes to programming. I myself know only very little, not enough to help sadly otherwise I would gladly offer it. But what I do know it is very, very, difficult, and that's just to write simple programs with under 100 lines of code. You're talking a full-on game, which has 1000's if not 100,000's if not more line of code. @BIGNEWY has done an excellent job at keeping us updated on everything that has been going on, and I'm sure the programmers that are handling this are doing the best they can to make sure not only #1 that the patch fixes it, but to make sure it doesn't cause any issues with all the other things that are coming out. Let me put this into perspective for you. Let's say they released the hotfix, okay, it fixed it, then they released the main patch, but the hotfix caused a coding error in the patch and the game is back to being broken, making you have to wait again for a patch to fix that patch. Would you come back on and say: "Well ED should have made sure the hotfix didn't break anything else before they released the patch, they did an extremely poor job"? Because I'm 100% certain that's what everyone would have done than they would of said "ED should have released the hotfix with the patch to make sure everything worked" Which is EXACTLY what they are doing. I'd rather wait for something knowing it's completely fixed and working rather than have it now and something else get's broken within a week. So with that being said here are your options: #1 Wait #2 Wait some more #3 Maybe find another game you can play in VR while you wait. #4 Get a refund on DCS and sell your VR. I understand from a logical point, yeah it's frustrating to not be able to do something that you have invested a lot of money into. But golden rule of life for anything and even gaming, NEVER PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET.

Idk what you mean by lack of official communication. BIGNEWY has been posting in several places regarding this plus on the discord as well as several times in this thread. There has been no lack of communication whatsoever.

You don't need a trackIR. Just go buy a cheap 15-20$ webcam if and use Opentrack + Aitrack. No need for LED or anything. Well, I'm sorry but their venting sounds like that of a spoiled child that is crying that they can't get what they want when they want it. There is a good reason, it's because for #1, they have to coordinate with Meta to get the underlying problem fixed. #2, Coding takes a very long time, it's not like they can go into one line and change something and than go okay fixed. That's what a lot of people fail to understand who want to complain but don't know how programming. works. I myself don't know that much about it, but having done some I can tell you it's not as easy as they think it is. #3. They are releasing it with a bigger patch, which means everything has to work inside and out. If people don't want to play or find an alternative to play, or just play something else until it's released than yeah that's on them. I just don't find coming on and crying is going to do anything to resolve it, seems just very immature childish behavior. If people are that annoyed and that impatient. Then this is the last place they should come to "vent" Then play in 2D or go play something else. You guys can complain all you want it's not going to make it come any faster.
-
Complaining about it isn't going to make them release it any sooner. Do you know anything about coding? If not, then just wait. It's like when people buy an Early access game and then complain that not everything works. God what's one more week?
-
You can play in 2D, nothing is stopping you from playing it. Get your webcam and use opentrack with aitrack. The notion that you are saying "You can't play" is just ridicules. You are choosing not to play. Yeah, you can raise your concerns and gripe about it and keep it civil. Though you shouldn't be ranting that you can't play at all. I know for me it's hard for most to go back to 2D from VR, though you should be more realistic rather than acting like the entire game is broken. So, if you are openly choosing not to play, stop complaining about a fix not being ready yet. It's been announced, yeah they had to push it back 1 more week. At least we know it's coming, there initial release date was going to be from the way it sounded close to the end of the month. So be grateful that they are pushing it out sooner than expected.

True, have you tried both workarounds? Steam + Oculus fix on page 16? I went from a 3070 to a 7800XT which is equal to a 4070 though I have the Quest Pro, so can't speak for the Quest 2.
-
@BIGNEWY does the patch work under both V63 and V64 of the meta-software or just one or the other? Just asking in case need to update Meta software and headset or leave it.
-
Ah okay, yeah because I do have open composite installed. Yeah thought as much, I get way better performance with OpenXR toolkit than I do without it. Especially having a 7800XT
-
Gotcha. Good to know, apricate it. Didn't someone mention that the OpenXR toolkit, conflicts with DCS since it uses its own standalone version of OpenXR. I mean me personally I never noticed a difference, in fact being on a AMD card. I get way better performance by using MSAA X2 and in OpenXR Tool kit, using FSR with a 35% Sharpness. The DCS FSR version by itself makes things very blurry from my experience. Just wondering what you think.
-
Thank you. Is this patch going to be applied only to the stable version or the open beta or both? Says for the stable current. Just curious.
-
Is there a link to the post or was it in the Discord?
-
that's the one with the 3-folder download, I confirm it works. Hope so, fingers crossed.

Openly criticizing people, being condescending saying "lol", saying "Blah Blah Blah Blah" calling for the thread to be closed meaning you're trying to silence people because you're tired of "Confusion." Etc and so on. Being rude doesn't just amount to calling someone a name. You have not been civil. I'm done speaking with you sir, have a good day. That's good news.
-
Did they announce it in the discord?
-
@BIGNEWY This person is being extremely rude and making comments that are uncalled for
-
Okay, glad and happy you raised the issue when it first broke out. Still highly unnecessary to ask a mod to close it because you are tired of confusion. To state the fact that most people despite everything unless you have a full day with literally nothing to do which I'm sure the vast majority of people do not have. They are not going to go to page 1 and go through every single thread on 20+ pages. Normally they will go to the last few pages for the most recent updates. Again, I don't see a point in you continuing to raise an issue with it if you are tired of seeing it. If you have nothing positive to add or anything constructive and if it bothers you that much to keep seeing people being confused, just stop following the thread. It's that simple. I understand workarounds already exist, and I have aided in that for people who are coming to the last couple of pages not knowing what's going on by refereeing them to said fixes. Something more valuable and constructive, than putting out criticism on others as you are doing. Now if you have nothing of value to add to this conversation other than just criticizing me. I am done. I'm here trying to help people to be able to direct them to working solutions for the time being so they can still play until ED releases the patch. Something I suggest you do as well. Have a good day.

Awesome find never knew that, like most I just used the OpenXR toolkit recommended on YouTube videos.
-
yeah for me it worked, I don't know which of the settings got it stable for me, I had to change so many. I usually run at 1.5 in the oculus toolkit with a 88-95 POV I had to set the 1.5 back to 1.0 and my oculus link in the software to about a 0.7 and turned SS to low in SteamVR and set the resolution to that at about 75%. It's not the cleanest picture and once i turned off Turbo mode the game ran smooth, a bit blurry but smooth. Then I found the Oculus Link fix so now I'm running on that.

Prestart Up guide: If you are a fresh install, deleted your DCS(openbeta) saved games folder, or if the game keeps crashing on start up. NOTE: If game is crashing on start-up because it is set to VR in game, please referee to step 5 of prestart up than proceed to steps 1-4,6 Do NOT and I can't emphasize that enough, DO NOT, turn on VR in the game. 1.Make sure you set up everything in 2D first before proceeding to the following steps. AGAIN, DO NOT ENABLE VR. 2.Once you are done with your set up in 2D and have graphics, controllers, sound etc... set up, 3.Go to your options.LUA in the main install config directiory ex: C:/Program files(X86)/Eagle Dynamics/Dcs world open beta/config 4.Open with notepad++ or another text editor that does C or C++ do a search for VR and look for the option that says enable and set it to true 5.To turn VR off without being in the game set it to false. 6.Save the options.lua via File-save This will allow you to turn on and off the VR without being in or restarting the game, which has in my experience caused problems when trying to set it up for both the Link fix as well as SteamVR SteamVR workaround. DO NOT LAUNCH THE GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE IT SET UP IN STEAMVR For the steamVR fix for those that haven't done it yet if the quest link fix doesn't work. For oculus link fix is on page 16 I can't remember what page the SteamVR workaround is on, I will try and find it. It's pretty simple please follow steps below for steamVR: 1. obviously goes without saying make sure you have SteamVR installed 2.(Optional) if you use open composite, make sure you set the runtime to SteamVR 3.Launch SteamVR. 4. Go to settings on the SteamVR pop up, make sure you set SteamVR as the active runtime environment and add OpenXR if you use it. 5. Go to games and add DCS MT to the list make sure you set it to VR. 6. Once done open oculus link as normal and run SteamVR through it 7. Set up your resolution settings and everything in SteamVR 8. Launch DCS through SteamVR. I've been told to turn Turbo mode off to get rid the severely low FPS in game if you use OpenXR toolkit.

Everyone here is the link for the oculus link fix. Username is: sBinn64 its about halfway down the page. If you are on PTC V64, make sure to revert back to V63, headset must be on. Make sure 1st you turn off PTC and any automatic updates both in the software and on the headset itself. Turn the Headset off, Turn PTC off, restart the oculus software and you should be back on V63. Turn on the headset and it should also revert. After you are done with that, follow the steps listed in the guide and it should get you up and running. Thank you for being a devoted Beta tester. Cheers mate
