  1. Autopilot/Nosewheel Steering Disengage (Paddle) Switch. You can hit 10g easy on the F/A-18. I hit over 11g once. On the F-16 I can't get past 6-7g without greying out, and have to do g-warm ups just to hit 8g.
  2. Is there a secret g-limiter button on the F16? New to DCS so maybe there is a special speed where the F-16 shines, but I find the F/A-18 to be quite a bit more agile in both sustained and instantaneous turns. Zooming through mountain passes at tree top level and dodging buildings in cities, the F/A-18 has no trouble changing direction on a dime, where the F-16 can only take specific and shallower turns and must plan turns in advance with little to no ability to change directions at the last second. With the g-limiter on, the F/A-18 is less agile, but with it off, it can even handle more g loads with less threat of GLOC despite the more upright seat. Hopefully this is all down to F-16 being EA?
  3. Would be nice if we had a full.suite of realistic & historical ammo choices for the Warbirds like Ball, Armor Piercing, Incendiary, and Armor Piecing Incendiary rounds. There is a a reason that German planes exploded into fireballs when struck by mere 50 caliber ammo when the burning bullets hit the fuel tanks and wings.
  4. I am still very new to DCS. So if you have links to information about this new damage model, would appreciate it. My experience thus far is only this: I completed the included Mustang campaign only by using the infinite ammo cheat on the last several missions because otherwise I would run out bullets despite landing nearly all of my shots in dog fights. Meanwhile the mustang itself would burst into flames if it was shot between 1 or 2 times. I had assumed it was because of the AI aim was too perfect, but then I watched PVP videos and saw similar issues of damage model irregularities. Tbh that is all I know about it. So based on this, I empathize quite a lot with the frustrations of the OP.
  5. Would be nice if the 50 cals could at least do this kind of damage:
  6.
  7. New to the forums, can we post links to images of that kind of RL acceleration/weight data? Or is that against forum rules?
  8. Found an acceleration table for the exact engine model of our block 50 f-16 (F110-GE-129) which said it should go from 300-650 kias in 13 seconds for a clean 20klbs jet at sea level (@15C). Just did a test and it takes about 23 seconds for a 20klbs F16 at sea level. So yeah it's definitely under performing.
  9. Iirc the radio contacts with your wingman are scripted by waypoint, the radio can be off and they still work (unlike FARPs, AWACS, and airports). So it may be bugged and require reflying the mission. On my last run through of mission 2 a few days ago, the wingman commands worked. But sometimes they just don't. On mission 3, told him to go back to the FARP to reload, which he did but then became unresponsive. He did go on his own little killing spree afterward though so it worked out ok.
  10. New to DCS, this is my first jet, and loving it. I have a question though. Was going through the start-up tutorial in game and got to the part where it runs a check of the Manual Pitch Override momentary switch on the elevators. The voice in the tutorial says the override should cause the angle of the elevators to increase when the override is held down and the stick is full forward, and that I am supposed to verify this visually, but a visual confirms the elevator stays at the same angle with the stick forward with or without the override switch pressed down. I assigned the override to a button on my throttle, and can verify that it's being held down when I am looking at the tail of the jet. Am I missing a step? Or misunderstanding the tutorial?
  11. Really looking forward to being able to use the wiper blades for rain. I still turn them on just for RP purposes when it's drizzly.
