Sorry, More questions (and thanks for your answers): - Modman said that with Vista the game wouldn't run properly from it's current location in 'program files' and that it should be moved. I did a quick cut and paste but now DCS Max doesn't seem to be working properly. I have to input the game path (C:EagleDynamics:KA50) evertime I want to launch the game from DCS max and I have no skins anymore. Core affinity doesn't seem to be playing either - I don't get the 'core affinity in XX secs' mesage anymore... Modman by itself is working fine!

OK, I got Modman - More questions: - Do I have to run the game from the Modman programme (Run game)? - I seem to have ressurrected a long lost pilot who I thought had dissapeared after a game crash - any ideas? If I run the game using DCS Max I revert to my newest Pilot log... - Do the mods still work if I run the game from DCS max? Thanks again...

Hi all, not sure where to post this so feel free to move it as required. I'm not a big user of user files and add ons but nearly all of the ones listed on this site say that ther are 'Modman' compatible. Do I need it? What does it do? Where can I get it? (Is it free?). I like the look of the 'worn' airfield textures by dragon and would love to install them...:smilewink:

I've just completed this mission. I used autostart and let the whole process start up and requested NVG's. Fly North until you reach the new FARP and land...

Oakdown/Sharkster - I try to set up virtual joystick (by clicking the plug in virtual joystick box) but I keep getting the message 'failed to plug in device'. Is this something to do with the trial version? I am not able to check the virtual joystick box either...

Sharkster, I've just downloaded the Cachya demo and have it working on my desktop moving the mouse arrow left to right. When I load up BS I get nothing. I have tried pressing escape twice to get the 'mouse look' working, which works but still no head tracking. Am I missing something here..?

Uninsatlled everything... igormk, I'm afraid I uninstalled everything. I do remember that I had some pretty big 'dead zones' - no game movement until I'd moved my head at least 20 degrees. This can be set up using the curves. I also found that setting the 'z' axis sensitivity to a low number (below 1) helped whilst I set the 'yaw' sensitivity to about 1.7.:huh:

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly I feel as if I need to add my comments here as I've both good and bad experiences with FreeTrack. I spent a day building a bespoke 3 LED system from and old LED bike light, including a USB power lead and a snazzy paint job. I'd been playing BS for a few weeks and installed the 6 DoF work around. I adjusted mt Dell integrated camera in a few minutes and played around with the FT settings and curves to get the output I wanted. I was amazed at how well it worked and how quickly I'd set it all up. I do have some electronics knowledge - but anyone could do it easily. I flew BS for about a month using FT with no problems at all - then POW..! Evertime a mission ended I got the dreaded blue screen. I checked the error logs and reports and they always contained the words 'freetrack'. I'm no computer expert so I spent about a week posting on forums and trying to find a solution to the problem. No joy. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, cleaned out my registry (causing BS problems) and still have the problem. I've now uninstalled FT and my home made LED unit sits unused on my desk. I'm trying to persuede the wife that I do need TrackIR5... I was very happy with FT and would still be using it if it worked without crashing my computer.

Question from a computer illiterate:cry:: I have had a few crash/freeze up issues and have twice lost my pilots log/campaign profile, meaning that I've had to start the campaign again. Is there any way of saving my profiles away from the 'game' so that if it does crash I can re-load them up afterwards?:pilotfly: Thanks...

Sorry - crash was probably the wrong word. I meant 'lock up'.

I've seen similar topics to this one but with variations. Mine goes like this: 1. Game loads up fine. SP Campaign or single missions. 2. Slow load times but mission loads up in about a minute. 3. Mission works fine. 4. If I Alt/Tab to desktop I can't get the game screen back up (only in single missions). It seems to be trying, as I can see the yellow 'cockpit' pointer and hear everything happening:helpsmilie:. 5. I have to CTRL/Alt/Del to close the 'game' screen and then the GUI screen loads up fine. 6. The game has also 'lost' my pilots log and all my campaign missions. 7. The game worked a treat for about three weeks, then ...crash... System details: Dell XPS 420 Intel ® Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz Vista 32 Bit 4 GB RAM NVIDIA 8800GT Saitek Cyborg X Joystick (using Saitek Profile Editor) Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold - Modified to a throttle (using DCS BS Control panel) DCS Max I have carried out 4 days of testing with various configurations of joystick (including neither plugged in) but the lock up is always the same. I have read the 'sticky' but am a bit of a computer thicko:cry:. If you want logs etc please let me know how to do it - and speak slowly! Thanks in advance for any help...
