Is there a way to prevent AI ground attack aircraft from jettisoning all their stores when fired upon? Pretty much any target area will usually have some AA of some sort, so therefore the AI becomes instantly useless if you want them to engage ground targets. I've had AI dump a whole load of valuable bombs/missiles, evade a missile, and then run in with guns on a Roland....WTF! I don't want to completely cripple them defensively by setting them to ignore threats so is there another way?

Great list! +1 Additional I'd also like to sort by available flyable aircraft, ie choose Su-25 for instance and only those servers with Su-25 slots would show up.

I've set up a forum for our use: http://314thsquadron.enjin.com/

The 314Caд is a squadron centered around North American timezones. We will be flying Russian aircraft exclusively. Laid back and very casual, we welcome pilots of all skill levels--we will learn this together! As proof that we don't take ourselves too seriously we have adopted the Lemming as our mascot. :D Currently we have a small core of Su-25 and Su-25T pilots. We are now looking to expand into some additional roles, eventually we will likely include all flyable Russian aircraft. We have our own Teamspeak server as well as a public server that is currently running an Su-25 training mission rotation. More involved red vs. blue missions are currently in the works and we hope to have the beta versions online for testing soon. With that being said our current recruiting is for: Su-25 Su-25T Su-27 Requirements to join: Must have a microphone and headset. Ability to work on a Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) schedule Please visit our new forums: http://314thsquadron.enjin.com/

Keep your eye out for the new mission Coming Soon™ on the 314th server. Very large mission with an 80km long FLOT, 3 hours worth of various AI flight activity, and resource system utilized for some extra challenge. So far in early beta testing it is running surprisingly well.

Of course they are adaptable in all war roles, they're lemmings! Seriously though, great work on what you have there. I like the idea of having a patch for each aircraft we fly, which currently would be the Su-25/25T and the Su-27. Maybe for the Su-27 one you could just put the lemming in the cockpit with the helmet on?

That's some funny stuff right there! My idea was not as colorful, just a sideview silhouette in a circle with the squadron name wrapped around it. Then with "fabric" texture applied. Esb77 your idea would work great as the patch for the Su-25 wing. For the fighters we would have to go another direction.

What I was saying was only partially slamming the mission designers/hosts. It is not reasonable to build a mission and run that same mission for a year on your public server and not expect visitors to get bored with it. Changing things up and adding more variety into the mission will help give more life to MP. When you have a 30 player server and 1 target area in the middle of the map that EVERYONE converges on is not fun or realistic. The challenge is accomplishing something bigger within the constrains of what DCS can run without issues.

Yes. Making the improvements I mentioned would be work, lots of work. But it's still true. The mission editor could have some improvements that would make this stuff easier: ability to see unit placement without launching the game is an example. Some kind of unit placement randomizer would be good too. I've been working on one large mission for months now. What I'm trying to do would be done in minutes with a DC and would be better. At the end of all my work I may find that it runs like crap in a full server. Frustrating.

Another cause: stale missions. You can only fly missions a few times before you memorize exactly where every unit is. Some ways to improve this on the mission designers part: Dynamic weather, regenerated often. Really can create different experiences. Several sets of target areas with enough targets. Create separate packages going to different targets than having 6 waypoints for everyone. More interesting targets: stuff like bunkers and depots gaurded by some AA. Resource system: USE IT. Limit the number of aircraft and weapons available to make everyone more careful to protect what they have. Win conditions: make them tangible. Ultimately what is really needed for MP to be great though is a dynamic campaign. Servers would be full every day!

We were testing out the laser-guided missiles in the 314th server tonight. Good news: seems like they did get fixed with this latest patch! We even managed to get some kills at 8-10km with the Kh-25ML! Thanks ED, this was a pleasant surprise after not seeing it in the changelog!

I like the Cyrillic after the 314. I'll just need to copy/paste that to put it in front of my callsign in MP.
-
I'm working on some updates to that mission as well. And 196 is now gone!! :P
-
Somehow I missed this post. That mission looks interesting. Will be fun to do some of these 3-6 player co-op style missions.

Thanks for your interest, Alireza.kh! What time zone are you in? We are trying to fill our ranks with mostly North American timezone pilots. Depending on need/interest we might possibly expand in the future to other parts of the world.

Oops! Sorry I'm trying to get all the names straight still! I hope to be available Thursday night. Some of you know that I have an ancient rig, well the last of my upgrade parts should be here today and Im off Thursday. I'll be working all day Thursday getting everything installed and working right and Windows reformatted. Hopefully I will be able to fire it up for some flights that night. Vedexent: I need to make some adjustments to that mission (add Su-25T slots is one). I'll try to get that done tonight and sent to you.

You should be able to run the mission I made that has some practice target areas, no problem. Number3 has a TS server we can use. As far as gathering on other squad's public servers goes: I think most are ok with it, maybe even encourage it. Think about it: they put those slots there to be filled, and who better to fill them than pilots that are using teamwork and communication? If we get to the point where we have our own dedicated server I certainly want other squads to jump I and participate.
-
Esb77: I looks like this thing is slowly getting off the ground. A few of us have made contact and have enjoyed some flights on public servers. We definitely will be expanding to include some aircraft other than just the Su-25, so with that being said we could really use some Su25T pilots....interested?
-
As far as a dedicated server goes: this would only happen if one of the members has access to a capable server. Once the dedicated server comes out (tied to EDGE) then options will increase to be able to rent a server. Website: This would be a good eventual goal. I personally do not have the knowledge/skills to be able to do this. Would have to be a squadron member. Atmosphere: I would prefer casual, but would be willing for semi-formal or formal if someone else helped step up to lead that stuff. Flight competence: Noob-friendly! We all had to start somewhere!
-
LostOblivion: I hate to exclude people (especially those that love the Su-25) but I'm trying to gather a group that would be located in North America. If interest is strong enough and the need is there we could expand to include other areas as well.

Ok so apparently messenger is tied to Skype now? I went ahead and got that set up. I will send a pm to each of you so you can have my contact info.
-
Ok so this is who we have so far then? Fishbreath Number3 Konkurskiller Thinkr Vedexent It's certainly a start! I think the next step would be to meet up for at least some fun sorties on public servers communicating on either Konkurskiller or Thinkr's TS servers. What are all the cool kids nowadays using for chat services? A few years ago messenger was getting used for that kind of thing.

If you'll notice I did mention other planes besides the Su-25. I guess I really should have started this as an interest check for a Russian aircraft squadron based in North American timezones. My main thinking is that most squadrons that are in North America are understandably NATO-oriented. While I love my country's aircraft (I get chills everytime I see an A-10 IRL) I like the challenge of the Russian gear.

Welcome number3! Did you say you can do website work?
-
Looks like maybe a couple of you are interested then? BTW sorry for leaving off you guys in Canada, when I said US-based I was really referring to time zones. You're more than welcome! If I end up being the one to run the show it will need to be very casual and laid back. I don't have a problem with squadrons that are super-serious and use realistic training/brevity/etc, I just am not in a place to be able to lead that right now. So a couple of you above might fit into the more casual type squadron anyway. I'd say if we get maybe 3-4 we can give it a go and see what happens. I would then need to try to recruit some fighter and helo guys as well.
