  1. Textures are high resolution, models are high poly count ;) And the answer will almost certainly be no . . . . It's not as simple as a key, you need to put some code in as well. You're effectively creating another flight model, something I'd venture to guess they have neither the time nor the inclination to do right now.
  2. Most likely you've made a formatting error somewhere - all you need to do is leave out a single / or <>, and that'll cause you your C++ error . . . . Trawling through to find where exactly it is is a long and tiring task!
  3. . . . . with which processor was that test made?
  4. Right - with a P4 2.4GHz CPU, you can buy a faster graphics card and things will look better. However, in order to really see the benefit of the newer cards, you need to be about a gigahertz faster . . . . . Got a budget of any kind for this? ;) Three useful pics here to demonstrate the point:
  5. . . . . . more or less. The 9500 Pro was part of the 9500/9700 family, didn't share all that much with the 9600. The 9600XT was part of the 9600/9800 family - IIRC the 9500 had more pipelines, but the 9600XT ran at fairly uber speeds . . . . At that kind of graphics card level, you will get significant boosts by upgrading (as long as you have a decent processor). If, however, you're at the X800/7800 level or higher, your performance will be hindered by your CPU . . . . . Athlon 64's at 3500+ and above are useful by that level ;) What kind of CPU have you got at the moment?
  6. . . . . . sounds like it's running properly. If you haven't inserted the disc for a couple of weeks, Starforce WILL ask you to to make sure you own a legal copy. You can run FC without the disk except the times it wants to check. Collecting information just sounds like a customer support thing . . . . And no, you can't get away from having the CD checked every now and again. Unless you want to buy a download version. Shrug.
  7. . . . . yes, I'm used to the Su33. Su27 has flaperons only, Su33 has slotted flaps and ailerons outboard. . . . . . which is kind of interesting. Anyone want to do any direct comparison roll-rate tests between the Su33 and Su27? Will probably be affected by the larger wing area on the Su33, but worth seeing anyway.
  8. Rated thrust on the -220 was actually decreased over the -100 - engine weight remained largely the same. If you look at the -229, thrust increased really quite a lot, but engine weight did as well . . . . . however, that engine is only fitted to the F-15E. The reason given was that the engine was far less susceptible to compressor stalls 'n stuff, but performance through the height may be different. Heck, we don't know . . . . . anyone know if the manuals will tell you that stuff?
  9. Radar and weapons are potentially attributable to the version of the F-15 he's flying - the early F-15 was a rather different beast to the current one electronically. Can we get any more info as to which radar his aircraft has, and in which areas he thinks the FM is inaccurate? :)
  10. The Sao Paolo used to be the Foch, in French service - the Rafale did fly from the deck of the Foch in carrier trials after a ski-jump was fitted by the bow. So it could operate it - whether it could operate it with a warload is a slightly different matter. Argentina had a similar problem in the Falklands - their carrier couldn't launch an A4 with a warload without a strong wind.
  11. I didn't, I used the Merzifon scene files directly and worked them in with everything else. Think you need a hex editor for that - the thread about doing it all should be in the Mods forum somewhere. Haven't had time to do it myself yet, it doesn't look like it'll be a small task ;)
  12. They're not in the MeInit - however, my mod does include the Merzifon airbase, which requires some scene file modding. The trees mod also requires scene file moddding, but IIRC it's based on the scene file without Merzifon and associate objects ;) There's a post from someone saying that the two don't clash, but I'm not sure . . . . .
  13. Think your best option is to create a list of the files you update, and ask the download sites to put it in the same category as the original mod - have no doubt MrWolf at LOSkins will oblige, but not sure how the other sites work. Glad you got it working, anyway :) edit - if you're feeling really ambitious, want to try and add Birdy's Trees Mod in as well? ;)
  14. That picture is more reminiscent of a MiG-15 . . . . . . prize goes to the first person who can say why . . . .
  15. I'm afraid you're doomed to suffer the whole transfer again - ah, wait. MeInit from the fixed Mod should be attached to this post, if you manually replace it then it should work - let me know if it does or not :) meinitfixed.zip
  16. . . . . . I guess a really concrete answer would depend on it having been done operationally . . . . . which I should imagine we're rather glad hasn't happened ;) Examples . . . . let's see. Look up use of choppers in Afghanistan, airpower/SAM deployment in the Six Days War (SAM deployment in particular being led in both equipment and tactics by the USSR) . . . . not sure what else has been used. Get creative with Google searches and you might find something you haven't already :) dynamo - Soviet tactics are likely to be common knowledge now anyway - we're not living in the Cold War anymore ;)
  17. . . . . no, there's no easy way to do it. You'd need to find the changed lines and swap them over - probably easiest to put the FPS tweak lines into my mod's MeInit. Off the top of my head I don't know what the FPS tweak changes - IIRC it's something about viewing distances, probably best to check forums first and then compare with the original MeInit to find the pertinent changes.
  18. Having a bomb separate and drop cleanly from an internal bay at Mach 1.5 is an interesting qualification . . . . the fact that you're cruising at Mach 1.5 without AB is the icing on the cake. Possibly a more capable strike aircraft than the Nighthawk, then? ;)
  19. Some people do, yep. Some people believe Aeronautics.ru's tales of Plasma Stealth, too ;) CAS . . . . . . A-10C? F-35? SDBs? CAS isn't being as abandoned as you might think - the F-15C doesn't have any kind of A2G role, while the F-22A does . . . . . Numbers are all subjective. The aircraft will be put into service in smaller numbers than intended, since the primary threat it was designed to face is no longer in place. The reports so far say it's really rather good at multiple-target engagements. As long as nobody does something daft like destroy the tooling (unlikely), they can build more. While you can't do R&D/service introduction of a new fighter within the time range presented by a new threat emerging in world politics, you just might be able to re-open the production line in order to boost numbers of the jet as any threat becomes apparent ;)
  20. Wait - a poster named Fanboy posts a topic about the Raptor on a message board about a Russian flight sim and isn't greeted with instant death threats and massive flames? Sigh . . . . . I miss the days of the Ubi Aviation Forum. *nostalgia*
  21. Simple way? It's included in my Navy Mod, which is a collection of some stuff Alfa's done before and a couple of things I threw in. The mod was written for v1.12, and AFAIK the MeInit is identical between v1.12 and v1.12a. I did include a couple of training tracks which I think no longer work, but you WILL get the F-111 complete with hi-res skin. And Merzifon, and Pyotr Velikiy, and the MiG29K, and new skins for the Su33, and the Su25UTG . . . . . Alfa's planning a similar (but better) pack for Black Shark, but this should do for now. Link to thread (and download link) here: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=13961 http://www.lockonskins.co.uk/index.php?page=downloads&cat=109
  22. . . . . . . . are you sure? I was pretty sure I'd seen ailerons/flaperons outboard assisting in roll control on the Sue, will check on that.
  23. Only a couple of aircraft models are allowed additional skins - IIRC they're the Su25T and the F/A-18. The others are limited to the number of slots originally there.
  24. Stable, perhaps not - but if you've got the FCS (or just a bright pilot to handle it) then you should be able to get away with it. Remember you've got your primary roll control on the tailplane on the Tomcat, so as long as you've got sufficient control surface deflection to counter any rolling moment, you should be able to hold it steady at a constant speed. Adverse yaw I'd have to think about harder, and it's been a long day :P
