  1. So having dabbled in DCS on my laptop (which will run it fine, even if the small screen pretty much kills me from actually flying) I think I'm gonna embark on building up a desktop system so I can really enjoy my purchases. LOL I've further decided that when I do, I'm going to use the HP Reverb G2 as my "eyes" into DCS World. My question is this.....in a two-seat A/C, the F-14 for example, I understand that the RIO can be another human. If so, can that second human be 1) on the same computer as me, and 2) if so, would a second VR headset allow them to look around the backseat?? What got me wondering was thinking it might be fun to have the g/f put on a headset and go joyriding around Las Vegas or Bahrain. LOL
  2. I wondered. Cool, I'll do that...once I get the PC built up. Thanks!
  3. Just curious.....are there any squadrons out there for the total noob to train with?
  4. I started getting DCS stuff a year ago and so far....I hardly ever play. Mainly since while my laptop easily handles DCS, it's just not suitable for playing. I'm slowly getting together the hardware (chair, controls, desktop system...) specifically for it, but as of right now, I'm still watching videos.
  5. Not really, not that'd facilitate this.
  6. Problem with that is I have no desktop or monitor. LOL Just the laptop.
  7. Well, I hopped into DCS for the first time yesterday, taking the Su-27 for a spin in FC3. First jumped immediately in to free flight, then did the "Start up/taxi/take-off" lesson. Holy crap this is unreal. LOL So the questions..... 1) I am assuming the lo-fi models in FC3 do NOT have clickable interiors? It'll all be keyboard/HOTAS commands? 2) Where is a good source of printable manuals/checklists? 3) I cannot be the only guy playing on a laptop while sitting on his couch. How do you other potatoes position your stick/throttle while deep in the butt-groove? I am thinking of a short piece of lumber, like shelf material, to place under the thighs, with the stick and throttle attached.
  8. Lessee....FC3, A-10C, F-16C, Nevada and Persian Gulf....that should keep me somewhat occupied for a bit. XD
  9. Alrighty then.....have the shopping cart full, now just wait a couple of days.....:D
  10. Awesome, thanks all!
  11. So I have a new laptop on the way. Plenty of oompf to play DCS. I also have a stick and throttle on the way. But stuff is on sale NOW. Can I go ahead and purchase stuff (not from Steam, but from the DSC World e-store), then once I get the new hardware, download DCS, go into Module Manager, and see my purchases?
  12. The F-16C is on the "short list". Not sure about the Hornet. Why would you recommend it or the Mirage? I thought about the F-5E as it's supposed to be a good 'learning' plane.
  13. That is exactly what I'm going to do. FC3, the Nevada and Persian Gulf maps and maybe the A-10C. I'm kinda debating the bundled F/A-18C/Persian Gulf map, but I'm not a big fan of the Hornet. LOL I figure this sim will be difficult enough without learning how to land on a carrier. LOL
  14. I am waiting for my host PC to arrive. LOL I have not downloaded DCS or bought any modules yet. Just curious what is available. I did go to your link though.....very cool! I've downloaded some already to use once I get the laptop and sim ready to go.
  15. To clarify....that are stock in the module, not user made.
  16. Not gonna lie....the big appeal of DCS to me is eye candy. Is there anywhere I can find a list of different liveries for the F-15C (actually, ANY DCS a/c would be nice!).
