  1. I used the DP cable supplied with the monitor. How can I tell?
  2. This has 1xHDMI, 2xDP and that USB-C or whatever it is. It's the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. Original set up was monitor in DP#1, Reverb G2 in DP#2 and the USB port. When it quit reading the headset, I put the monitor on DP#2 and it went black. Right now I moved the monitor to the HDMI and the G2 in DP#1 and the USB. That was working (though it got super choppy in DCS) but then I started getting that weird thing where the right "lens" in the G2 seemed to move to the center.
  3. I'm hoping this is just a setting issue, but who knows. I recently got the updated cable for my Reverb G2. Since switching it out, I've had nothing but issues. I switched back to my other "old" cable, but now IT'S not working. I get the Mixed Reality Portal 1-4 error message, SteamVR cannot detect my headset. I swapped my monitor cable with the headset cable, and when it's in the second display port, it's black as pitch. Obviously, I now suspect my graphics card as the source of my woes. Any advice on what to do? Thanks in advance!
  4. Nope, doing it with both cables. Fiddled with some setting though....seem to have gotten rid of the weird right eye thing. But still having that weirdness in the DCS 'hanger'.
  5. Okay, so I was using the old cable for my Reverb G2, no major problems that could not be attributed to me being computer-stupid. Then I got the new cable and things seemed to go wonky. Even when just starting up, it "looks" like the right eye monitor has slid over halfway to the left eye side. Then, even if it did appear to be working properly, in the DCS menu screen (in the hanger) the picture would move with my head, like it was constantly trying to recenter itself. Lot of flickering and such. Also, on my monitor, where you would usually see what the headset was seeing, there were TWO distorted images side by side. Any ideas? Is this related to this cross eyed thing?
  6. I took a Playchair Air Force seat, stuck a Warthog throttle on the left and a VKB MCG on the right, VKB rudder pedals on the floor. Now I gotta pick a plane to start mapping stuff and learn how to use it.
  7. Sorry, MCG. I flashed it with the non-twist firmware though
  8. Gunfighter MKIII....it seems to work fine though. Think I got it. Had to relabel from JOY_RZ to JOY_RX.
  9. Both have their own black boxes. Not sure about 'calibration'. I clicked "start calibration" in the configurator but nothing seemed to happen. I did notice in DCS that it says "Joy_YZ", but when I look at it in Windows 10, it says "Axis X".
  10. I've finally got my stick and pedals flashed and showing up in DCS, but now when mapping stuff, I've noticed the rudder pedals don't exhibit any 'motion'. When I move the stick, I see the little white line move on the appropriate axis, but nothing on the pedals. Any ideas?
  11. I had my fiancé give it a whirl. While not much into computers/flying/etc. she did say her stomach felt it when the F-16 banked, etc.
  12. Well, not dumb per se but I did reach up to rub a smudge on the canopy.
  13. I have no idea what Re-Size Bar does, but I'll give it a whirl. LOL And I'll see about the axis. All of this is new to me, so I'm learning as I go along. LOL And I hang my tongue out and drool on a NORMAL day, let alone today.
  14. So I just finished getting SteamVR and the Reverb G2 set up and "flying" three times. Still a lot of work to do BUT OMG HOW F'ING COOL IS IT?!?!?! The cockpits in the A-10C, F-16C, and F/A-18 are absolutely mind blowing!!!! I also used the G2's controllers to successfully jettison my canopy and eject. LOL I am giddy, forgive me. Can anyone share some setting tips for WMR/SteamVR/DCS to get the most out of it? Ryzen 9 5900X/ AMD RX 6800 XT if that helps. I think I just defaulted to the DCS VR video settings. And I still need to figure out how to make my VKB rudder pedals work. They show up as a controller but I still gotta learn to map controls, etc. I am still giggling about this. Holy shit, what a hoot!!!! I like sticking my head completely out of the canopy, like someone took the family dog on a flight.
  15. I've have watched videos and read posts, and I'm still no closer to a decision. I've never used VR, hell, I've barely played DCS!! But I'm gonna get one of these two this weekend! In one sentence, tell me which one you'd get and why. Partial computer specs for the techies... Aorus Elite X570 mobo Ryzen 9 5900X AMD Radeon RX 6800XT
  16. Ooooooooo.....I did not need to see that PointCtrl thing. That looks like just the thing!! Thank you both for the input (no pun intended).
  17. Wouldn't using a mouse with a VR headset be a little problematic? Plus, I'm using a gaming chair with a HOTAS/rudder set up. Not sure I have a place for a mouse.
  18. So my PC is finally done, and I'm still trying to figure out which HMD to go with; Reverb G2 (I do love the eye candy) or Quest 2. I was talking with a coworker of mine who just got his Quest 2 a month or so ago, and he loves it. I brought up the question above, he says he keeps the hand controllers in his lap for when he wants to clickee/pushee. Is that how it's done? I thought (from watching videos) that there was a little crosshair in the center of your view and you'd look at the switch and hit something mapped to your stick/throttle.
  19. I guess what I'm asking is if the performance jump between the two CPUs is pretty significant. I'm not techy enough to translate the metrics I'm seeing online to what I'm actually seeing. LOL Though I suppose Ryzen 7 vs Ryzen 9 is pretty self explanatory. LOL Trigger pulled.
  20. So to update and ask for some more advice..... I did manage to get a Radeon RX 6800 XT card, and now I have the opportunity to upgrade from the Ryzen 7 3700X to a Ryzen 9 5900X. Still no VR headset, though a coworker of mine is going gaa-gaa over his Oculus Quest 2. Would it be worth $550 to bump up my CPU for DCS and VR? I am pretty sure I still have the box and fan from the 3700X, so I should be able to resell it and recoup some of my cost on that one.
  21. So the rig is up and running. Finished downloading the stable (2.5.6?) version of DCS and all my modules last night. Regrettably, I have to attend a school for a month starting mid-May, so until that's finished, all the pieces I've gathered won't become a whole until mid-June. So the computer..... AMD Ryzen 7 3700X AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (Midnight Black!! OOOOooooo....scary!! LOL) 128GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3200MHZ PC4-25600 CL16 (I know, overkill....I shoulda asked before I bought) Combined total of 4TB memory The "cockpit" is a Playseat Air Force chair with a Thrustmaster Warthog throttle (soon to have the Delta Sim slew upgrade), and VKB rudder pedals and Gunfighter stick. No VR headset yet. One thing I learned from building this thing is I SUCK at the technical jargon. I had to flash my BIOS and didn't know the difference between exFAT and FAT32. LOL Please dumb down your responses. Question 1) All of my DCS stuff is "Steam incompatible" by choice. I play Arma3 on Steam and while I love the game, Steam is aggravating. So I see a lot of references to SteamVR (and other stuff that has to be run while running DCS). Is this only needed if you're playing Steam-related titles or does it depend on which VR headset you use? Question 2) I had my sights set on the HP Reverb G2, but had the Oculus Rift S (I think?) in mind in case sticker shock got to me. I read in another thread (that was also pretty technical for me LOL) that DCS works well with Oculus? I've also heard that Oculus is good for VR-noobs, that it's pretty easy to get up and running and it's performance isn't bad. Truth or marketing hype? Question 3) I don't know what I don't know. What am I not asking that I need to ask?
  22. Just revisited this thread. Still haven't gotten my VR headset yet (understanding all this stuff is like learning a new language). One thing I did notice....I ONLY have bifocals. Wear them all the time. So when I go to get these lens inserts, I want to use the distance prescription, right? Thanks again for all the input. Super helpful.
