correct as-is Maverick space stabilization not working correctly?
Basilone replied to Basilone's topic in Bugs and Problems
I know its been a while but are you sure about that, we could have been on different builds at the time. Just hopped back in A-10 after many months not flying and its still working same as in the video. Very stable by default, holding DMS fwd doesn't do anything, mav starts to drift on release (and restabilizes itself about a second later). -
I didn't have any particular level in mind, just a moderate amount of zoom where you aren't looking through a straw
-
What I mean is to have a constant size for the HMD symbology, so it doesn't enlarge or shrink as you adjust your zoom. Preferably under special options for each module with a slider to adjust the % size, or alternatively separate it from the camera zoom and have control binds to adjust HMD size. Would be nice to have for all modules, but especially useful for the A10-C II. With the way things are currently you need to zoom in a lot to get a clear read on the JHMCS text and to get a decent view of the TGP picture, would be nice to be able to get a clear view while maintaining the SA of a normal cockpit zoom.

Potential fix for George not firing Hellfires
Basilone replied to idenwen's topic in Bugs and Problems
Was having this problem in a mission I made where he wouldn't fire LOAL, I switch to LOBL and engage a few targets, then back to LOAL and it works. Went back and watched the track and TSD bottom right said PHS lo norm when it didn't work and the same thing the time it did work, so there might be something else causing the problem. -
Currently the preorder discount on steam is set to expire on Dec 1. Are there any plans to extend that date now that the release is pushed back?
-
It doesn't work when you place a ST in the editor; when Jester turns steerpoint to ST you get no steering info nor will he cue the lantirn to it. It does work if you get Jester to add ST from F10 map marker, just a mission editor issue. Tested IP and FP too, no issues with those. EDIT: Must be a rare bug I tried to recreate it and get a track file but it was working that time.

correct as-is Maverick space stabilization not working correctly?
Basilone replied to Basilone's topic in Bugs and Problems
You sure about that? It's HOTAS functionality is noted in the manual and even though the key doesn't do anything from what I can tell, you can notice a loss of stabilization when you release it. -
By default the maverick feels to easy to aim. Holding DMS fwd doesn't seem to do anything and when I let go of DMS it loses stability. It seems like it is being stabilized by default instead of by HOTAS command and then reverts to normal behavior for a few seconds after you release DMS fwd. Have tested this today on Syria and Caucasus, solo and multiplayer, with both IR and TV mavs and same result. This was in standalone open beta.

mosquito now in free trial Trial License?
Basilone replied to Kilted_Kerbal's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Really weird how the Hind had trial on day one but not for the Mosquito, I guess they forgot and with it being a Friday patch now they are off for the weekend. Hopefully we get it Monday or Tuesday. -
Quick update, pretty sure I figured out what is causing this. Every time this has happened it was spawning in to a hot start aircraft. When you spawn in to hot start slot and keep canopy closed the whole time, the head positioning behaves like the canopy was never shut. If you open and close it again, it works like it should.
-
Serious head clipping through the canopy tonight. I've never had this issue in modern jets (or it is so exceptionally rare I have no memory of it happening), but it happens routinely in all my WW2 modules (P51+P47+A8). Its never happened this bad in the other two, usually when leaning and I'll clip through a little bit on the top corners of the screen. This was head completely out of the cockpit and I didn't even need to lean, only turned my head a bit to check 6. I tried to recreate this in singleplayer and only had the typical slight clipping on the edges with major head movement, so maybe this is more of a multiplayer issue, but this was going on for almost 2hrs online and recentering the trackir didn't help. anton_head.mp4

Problem with Mission 10 - Juba Not advancing
Basilone replied to King39's topic in A-10C Operation Piercing Fury Campaign
Same issue, mission stuck after hitting the two groups of vehicles. -
I would be thrilled because I'm looking to upgrade my HOTAS in the near future but there are two things I want to see in a new throttle. 1) Ease of disassembly. My current TWCS throttle is somewhat tedious because they went overkill with the screws, but once you get it open its very straightforward and maintenance friendly. The T16000 it came with is an absolute disaster to maintain, the wires are a mess and I get nervous every time I pull it apart. 2) Compact size. I've been holding off on getting a Warthog or Hornet throttle because I don't have enough space in my desk area and I'm not prepared to do a full office makeover just to make room for a throttle. The people that want a full size throttle panel already have options, something comparable in size to the Virpil MT50 CM2 would make this an easy sell for those of us that are space limited.

Bug report (game crash) Mission 04: Nowhere to run.
Basilone replied to Paral's topic in Ranger 79 Productions
I've crashed twice at the same point. I saw Ranger79 said he can no longer sell the campaign because of a conflict of interest issue with his company and its no longer on the steam market. ED, is a fix for this issue for those of us that already own OPF still a possibility? Would be a real shame for such an outstanding campaign to just die off in the virtual boneyard. -
Save feature for SP missions is essential
Basilone replied to Basilone's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That's typically how I do it. I'm talking about playing through campaigns made by other people so I can learn some things from them. Yeah I'm not looking to constantly save so I can always revert to the last 5 minutes, but restarting from the very beginning gets old fast. I just failed the mission I'm currently on 70 minutes in, 25 of those minutes were starting up and getting to the AO. I'm not going to get any satisfaction from repeating the flyout, its a chore that must be completed before I can actually play again as far I'm concerned. Yeah I understand that's part of what makes it a sim and generally I don't mind the flying from point A to B, but at this point I'm halfway through the campaign and already had 10 or so restarts...my last mission for example I had to repeat after I completed it because the mission success trigger didn't fire for some reason. I've had my fill of start ups and navigating for the time being and now I'm more interested in blowing stuff up and seeing the story progress. -
I saw a post about this on Hoggit recently and I totally agree, and tbh I think it should be a higher priority than some of the other highly requested core feature improvements. The person that raised the issue mentioned the fact that they don't have very much time to play games and this would greatly help with that, would also let them play longer missions that aren't a possibility for people that only get to fly an hour per night. That's a valid point, but I have another reason and this one is definitely in ED's best interest from a content creation perspective. I'm getting in to mission building. At the moment just for me and my friends to fly, but I plan to start sharing them here soon, and I hope to make some campaigns down the line. The best way to improve using the mission editor imo, and I'm sure many others would agree with this, is to play other people's missions and campaigns and then look under the hood in the editor after and see how they got certain things to work. So that's what I've been doing lately (or attempting to), binging through campaigns, for enjoyment but also as a ME learning experience. Unfortunately this is taking way longer than I thought it would, because everytime I die, fail, or run in to some other issue, its back to cold and dark with another 20 minute fly out. Not only is that 30 minutes down the drain, but when I run in to the harder points of a campaign that ends up taking several attempts, that usually just kills the whole session for me. Its not that I don't appreciate the challenge, quite the opposite, but its easy to get burned out going through the motions for 30 minutes just to get to the challenge. I would much rather play a mission so difficult it took 10 attempts and be able to load right before the action starts, than play a mission 3 times starting from the very beginning. I think that making the single player side of the game a bit more accessible would help crank out more top notch mission makers. I also feel that the lack of a save feature artificially constrains mission building, particularly for DLC campaigns. I'm almost positive there have been times where a creator wanted to make a mission (or the whole campaign) more challenging, or incorporate more randomness, but decided against it due to there not being a save system. It seems perfectly logical, making missions that would try even the most seasoned DCS veterans would likely lead to the campaign getting more negative reviews; not because people don't like a challenge, but there isn't very much fulfillment constantly replaying the easiest part of the mission and listening to same dialog over and over. Some people might say "git gud and its not a problem." I agree! And the best way to do that is by spending more time in the actual combat portion of Digital Combat Simulator. I'm sure someone is going to say they enjoy the punishing aspect of starting over from the beginning. That's fine, I've really enjoyed playing ironman mode in other games that are more engaging from start to finish, so I understand the appeal of playing with high stakes. For those people, just don't save it. My enjoyment from playing Xcom or Paradox games on ironman isn't degraded at all by the fact that others don't have to play that way, everyone wins. Lastly to ED, if this is something that could be implemented relatively quickly, I couldn't think of a better time to do it. Supercarrier is just days away, and Raven One is going to be following soon after. DCS has blown up over the past year or so, and this is going to be the first DLC campaign for a full fidelity modern fighter module, plus its been promoted often by Fighter Pilot Podcast. This has got to be the most highly anticipated retail campaign so far by a mile, and I imagine it will probably be the first campaign for a lot of folks. So if at all possible, PLEASE let us experience this with saves. I know Baltic Dragon and the others put a lot of hard work in to it, and I'm sure its going to be amazing so I'm probably not even going to think about saving on my first go through a mission. But if there's some tough parts that are going to take 3 or more tries, it would really be a shame if people had to put it on hold for a while because they got burned out on repetitiveness.

Just got a set of GSP350 headphones that sound fantastic so far on everything other than DCS. The quality of the sound when its working is great, but the amount of clipping is intolerable. When I turn off the 7.1 with the dongle button its not as bad, but its still there. Did some googling and came across this post on hoggit, same issue with another high end Sennheiser product. Does anyone know of a fix? Is this a known issue that ED is working on?
-
It does, currently at 400 same as the previous mouse.

A little while ago I took a break from DCS for maybe 2 months. When I came back I had a new mouse and looking around cockpit with the mouse was horrendously unresponsive and choppy, but panning camera with the numpad works the same as before, so did the old mouse. However on the old mouse LMB doesn't work 80% of the time so just sticking to that one for DCS isn't a option, I need it to work with the new mouse (SteelSeries Rival 110). I've been getting around this recently by not flying the F-14 (typically used numpad to pan and snap view anyway), but mouse is the only way I like to operate the Jester menu. Would like to be able to hop back in the cat before I upgrade to a trackir, does anyone know of a fix for this problem?

When video starts I mode 4 IFF all 5 radar contacts. At 1:32 I try to NCTR bandit within the proper aspect and range parameters but nothing happens. Have tested many times against various aircraft and different aspects, same result. At 2:25 I enable LTWS and it flags L&S red. This method works without any double authentication, but only on targets within 25nm, so it behaves similar to how NCTR should be working.
