  1. Any good videos/tracks showing PFM F-15 dogfighting Su-27 or Mig-29? I'm really interested to see and to learn how current PFM F-15C is handled in good hands.
  2. To me even with clean configuration and bingo fuel F-15 is still sluggish under 350kts with afterburner on. It really doesn't feel like a fighter with well over 1.0 thrust/weight ratio.
  3. I had exactly the same feeling. I'm no pliot of course but it's just hard for me to believe F-15C is so sluggish and stall-prone under 350kts. I was told the PFM is still a work in progress, hopefully things may be different in the future.
  4. nah really don't get time for these. Aren't such data supposed to be available with the publish of AFM? To be honest, I found it hard to believe that real F-15 is so prone to stall and so slow so hard to turn under 350knots. By all means F-15C is built to be a superior fighter and I have seen plenty stunning action videos of F-15 on youtube. Anyway there is no choice and I'll just eat whatever the AFM feeds.
  5. I'm still getting used to the AFM. Before flying F-15C was easy, now it's hard and I'm having a hard time to even keep up with MIG-23. I did brief and not so accurate tests to time my turn rate with near bingo fuel and clean configuration (from the DACT mission). At around 450 knots it took me 20 seconds to turn a full circle, and 38 seconds at around 250-300 knots. Altitude was around 10,000ft. Are these numbers normal or my piloting skill is totally crap...
  6. Thanks, Shagrat. If my AB is kicked in no problem then I feel the thrust on F-15C is too anemic though. In DCAT mission against Mig-23 I can barely do any sharp maneuvers.. "when you just kick in burners and pull up and rise like a rocket are gone." -- but to be fair there have been plenty videos on youtube showing real F-15 indeed can do this? Also in this F-15 video in FC3: At 2'20" he pulls up nose to 90 degree and climb - there is simply no way I can do that on my computer (at similar speed and similar configuration of the aircraft). If I pull as hard the plane will stall in seconds.
  7. Thank you guys for the kind replies! I'm now much aware of that the AFM on F-15 is quite different from what's in FC2 and I'm learning to control the plane more properly. Nonetheless, there might indeed be a problem with my throttle. I removed the afterburner detent mechanism on Warthog so the throttle moves all the way up and down smoothly. I never had any problems with engaging afterburner in FC2 or in FSX/Prepar3D by simply pushing throttle all the way up. In FC3 when I push the throttle to max, the sound, acceleration and flames from nozzles (in external view) seem all indicate that afterburner is engaged on F-15. But when I watch the engine tachometer and fuel flow carefully I find that engine rpm stays at 96% and fuel flow indicator is between 50-60. Nozzle position is fully open though. Just want to confirm with you guys, when you push throttle to max and afterburner kicks in what are the readings in F-15C's engine rpm and fuel flow? I believe the engine rpm should at least be over 100% and reaching 110%? Warthog throttle was recognized as JOY-Z in FC3 Control setup and I also set JOY-Z as SLIDER. I can reach the full range of the curve but there is one thing strange that the moving direction of "dot" on the curve is reversed - pushing up throttle the dot goes down to bottom left corner and pulling back the dot goes to top right corner. Nonetheless in flight the throttle moves in the right direction (so does the throttle in the cockpit). I'm kind of convinced my throttle is having problem to fully engage afterburner but puzzled on what's wrong at this moment...
  8. OK, this might be due to that I'm pulling the stick too hard? I found whenever I pull the stick to adjust the pitch I have to be extremely gentle, otherwise F-15 will quickly approach high AOA like 25-30 degree and the speed will bleead like crazy. This is certainly very different from FC2. Plus, if this is due to new flight model in FC3 I must be doing sth wrong since now I can't even finish a vertical loop in F15 with afterburnner and no external weapons. There's virtually no vertical maneuverability and I almost can't keep up with or out turn Mig-23. Is this the way supposed to be in FC3 and I have to re-learn so much in FC3? I installed new DCS and FC3 without uninstalling the old FC2 etc. Could this mess up sth in FC3?
  9. Haven't flew DCS/FC for a long long time but just got back to play to enjoy my Oculus Rift DK2. I got a strange problem in FC3 that I'd really appreciate anyone's helps. My Thurstmaster Warthog HOTAS was working fine with FC2 before. I used same profile I made with FC2 and made sure in Option/Control all the axises were assigned correctly and X, Y, Z from Warthog all are perfectly calibrated in DCS. So far everything seems to be fine except that the pitch is severely limited. I tried A-10 and F-15 instance action missions, and in either aircraft when I pull up the stick the aircraft will only pitch up to 20-30 degrees. Then it's like that I'd bumped into kind of pitch limiter or sth, as the aircraft begins to rattle and refuses to further pitch up. This happens whenever I pull or push the stick beyond 20-30 degrees. It almost appears that the aircraft is going to stall but I'm pretty sure at those speeds they shouldn't be stalling at all. I have no problem in roll (axis X), throttle (axis Z), and yaw (by CH Pro pedal). Again, in DCS Option/Control/Axis menu all axises including Y/pitch moves and calibrates perfectly fine for F-15 and A-10. So is there some kind of new settings that I'm missing in FC3 or sth weird happening between FC3 and my Warthog? Thanks a lot!

  11. I'm having problems to get AIESTV to work. I got a black 512x512 screen with display "www.keyget.com" when starting the mission. However when I switched to AGM-65 the screen will just turn gray, with nothing on it, no overlay no image. I'm running FC2 on Win 64bit, ATI 5850 4xFSAA 16xAF, HDMI TV 1920x1080 (primary), DVI to LCD @1280x1024. I let AIESTV run on the second LCD monitor by setting posx=2000 in the cfg file, but I got exactly the same problem with the internal mode. I already disabled mirrors. I also installed Visual Studio x86 2005, if that matters. Any helps will be greatly appreciated. Looks like I'm so close to get it to work...
  12. I know that you're talking about real aircrafts, but is this also true in FC2?
  13. me too! As the one who opened this post I'm VERY satisfied... :D
  14. Thank you both for the replies! I certainly need to learn a lot of new things to play online. I just studied the tracks and it seems that if I keep a good speed normally I had better fights. Later in the play I started to slow down to match those Flanker speeds and I was dying so much faster! I knew there are no magic tips and those guys I was fighting with are definitely very good. I don't even have a goal to beat them, just want to win a few out of ten gunzos. :D
  15. I kind of knew that F-15 is better on BVR due to its radar and missiles. I was doing gunz only online though and those Flankers seem to have better thrust and turning performance in dogfight. Well, in a way, I just want to know whether it was a stupid idea to go guns only with Flanker online... By the way, I found the Temp folder, it's in: C:\Users\SystemOnly\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2 Don't why win7 hides these files so deep...
  16. Thanks a lot! But I looked at C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Temp but did not found trk files. Is it the right folder? Sorry for this potentially dumb question.
  17. So it's true with equal skills F-15 vs Su-27 should be 50:50? Ok, then I just need to practice more online... :-) Online players are so different from AI. Humans are brutally unforgiving...
  18. I flew F-15 and I can routinely win DACT guns only mission 1xF-15 vs 2xSu-27 within in 3-5 minutes. It was always great fun. Well, last night was my first time playing dogfight online and I was totally owned by those Flanker guys. I need to be better, no question about that, but I also wonder is it true that F-15 is at disadvantage in general when playing online against Su-27 (guns only)? If so then I just give up since I don't have time to get over this. If not then I'll stick with F-15 and make myself better. Comparing to the AI, those Flanker guys online were brutally unforgiving... I saw couple times a player fighting smoke on, does that mean that he considers himself so good that he's purposely giving opponents some advantages? Any you guys have any tips for online gunzos that'll be greatly appreciated... :helpsmilie:
  19. thanks for reply! I couldn't get on the 104th b/c I failed the file integrity check and I'll figure that out later. I did get on to a few other servers and it was fun. I have couple questions, though. First, is it possible to record track file of online play? I really want to but there don't seem to be an option for it. Second, this is my first time play dogfight online and I was totally trashed. I flew F-15 and I can routinely win 1 vs 2 Su-27 guns only DACT in FC2. But online I was totally owned by Flanker guys. I need to be better, no question about that, but I just wonder is it true that F-15 is at disadvantage when playing online against Su-27 (guns only)? If so then I just give up since I don't have time to get over this. If not then I'll stick with F-15 and make myself better.
  20. I have been playing Flanker -> LockOn -> FC ->FC2 on and off for many years but my flight time has always been very limited and sporadic. I hardly played online before, maybe a couple times in HyperLobby six years ago. I just wonder for a starter like me what would be the best server to begin with (there seem to be quite a few in FC2). I fly F-15 and A-10 in FC2. I'm ok with these two planes, but certainly not considering myself excellent. I'm living in US east coast. I just want to play online casually first, less than 10 hours a week or so. Never used Teamspeak (?) before, is it required for online play? Thanks! Yang
  21. Hi, I'm looking for Helios profiles for FC2: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=76509 In your case, did you make it by yourself or you get it somewhere online? By all means, will it be possible for you to share it? That'll be fantastic.
  22. I probably don't have the time and skill to build up a profile from scratch... I know, this Helios thing is driving me into playing A-10C. I like A-10, but I also still enjoy F-15 in FC2 a lot. The main problem is time. :-( I saw in this post the OP mentioned he was using Helios in FC2: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=75336&highlight=helios+FC2
  23. I'm sorry if this questions is dumb due to my ignorance, but I just downloaded the Helios software and I couldn't find any profiles for FC2 planes like F-15 and A-10, although there appear at least quit a few Helios profiles for DCS-A10 available online. I'm trying to make one by myself but apparently I don't know how to do things right in Helios yet. Are there any Helios profile available online for FC2? Or is it even possible to run Helios with FC2? Thanks a lot for any tips and comments. I don't have time to learn and play the new DCS A-10C (although I really really want to!) so I'll stick with FC2 for a while and it'll be great to have Helios to work on my 2nd monitor. Actually if it works I'll buy a touch screen monitor for it!

  25. Yes I did. The touch screen didn't work with maxivista. I haven't tried other addons, but MFDs of Leavu2 didn't work on iPad/maxivista. So unfortunately the iPad is kind of useless for LOFC2. See my previous post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=56726
