With the new parking feature, it is necessary or beneficial to use Process Lasso?
-
Appreciate the spirit of what you're saying, though its not enough to help in that decision. Usually find comparison videos for DCS sooner have to wait
-
Wouldn't utilizing CCX1 cores be useful to prevent the non-vr applications from using the CCX0 cache?
-
Greetings - is there a guide I could reference for troubleshooting sound files that are not kicking off? There are a handful on different air frames I'm having issues with. Currently I'm trying to solve the side gunner gun on the UH-1. And help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated
-
Correct - so the 7800x3d large-cached CCX stock boosts about 500Mhz faster than the 5800x3d. The other CCX boosts much higher.
-
Somewhat agree - although 10-15% is the gray zone for a decision. Looks like we're getting close to multicore/Vulcan, and based on that it would be wise to let it all play out. Aero users are always chasing hardware. The battle is not frames - getting solid > 60fps, and staying between 12-15ms, but stuttering.
-
So the 7800x3d is a $1100+ upgrade (MB/Memory/CPU) from the 5800x3d for essentially gaining 500Mhz. The core count and cache are the same. Seems excessive. Though it's unlocked, and we'll have to wait to see overclocking results, which may make it more appealing. I was prepared to jump in, but now realize it would be wiser to wait and see DCS VR benchmarks vs the 5800x3d.

What's your SteamVR per-app resolution set to, and what PPD on the Aero are you using?
-
Current state of opencomposite vs SteamVR - is there a clear preference for one or the other? Supumua recommended Steam VR in part for the ability to use Reshade. He also recommended turning down the per-app resolution in SteamVR. Curious though - if we turn down the resolution anywhere in the rendering pipeline, won't the quality suffer? Thanks in advance!

Thank you for that - yes it did answer a lot of questions. I have exactly 205 centimeters clearance in my basement! That's cutting it very close. Is there any variability in seat height? Otherwise I'd have to jackhammer the floor to get the platform low enough to make it work. It would be easier to build a custom frame for the chair I'd think. Your approach to visit the factory makes a lot of sense as well. Do they have DCS ready to go and set up for visitors? Also, you'd mentioned it took a year from ordering to receive it. These are made to order? Here's a Pic of my current rig, which has 7 transducers.- 15 replies

MadMonty - Thank you for your excellent post, very informative! Did you also purchase the power supply? Also, what's the total height clearence needed for you in the seat in the fully vertical extended position? And finally, do you have a rough estimate of the kWh power usage per hour of usage? Understanding the maximum draw is 17 amps, would it safe to assume that the average draw is a lot less? Thanks in advance! Rix- 15 replies

Hey all - starting to build a side gunner controller for VR using an old telescope mount. Question - In looking through different posts to use Arduino, it there an all-in-one board that : Handles the inputs from the sensors, has a USB that provides power to the board which also provides the signal to the PC? Is reliable Capable of running MMJoy2 ..and is less than $50 I see a lot of solutions, however they seem to be a lot more work to put together. Thanks for you help! Rix

Greetings! We are seeking to fill 2-3 open slots in our F-16 lineup, the 472nd Fighter Squadron within in Task Force Heavy (TFH). About you - an individual who is passionate about aviation and learning, who seeks to build a capability with their airframe and the skills needed for operations. The 472nd does it all, with a good mix of A/A and A/G, and often is the tip of the spear providing SEAD/DEAD. We strive for a balance between fun and realism, and have a positive culture. There's no penalties on performance, i.e. no one gets chewed out for making mistakes. And it's this way because individually we hold ourselves to be focused and accountable. You would be a good fit if you gain satisfaction through building competency with a desire to learn. Being less concerned about skill level (we're all on a journey), but more about passion and a positive attitude. We have a wonderful mix of folks, many of whom with RL backgrounds in aviation, and many with military backgrounds. We also have really fantastic missions; TFH has a lot of talent and they put a lot of effort into creating them. Each mission is complete with a detailed briefing, with MDC's, sat/drone recon photos and involve a coordinated effort with all of TFH's 12 squadrons, followed up by a debriefing in TacView. - Important : we're searching for fellow pilots looking to be able to commit at a minimum, a weekly training night. Twice a year during our bi-yearly operations, we have approximately 9 missions where the commitment is two nights per week. The missions are typically spread out over a 3 month period, so during that time it works out to 2 nights every-other week. However during full scale operations the mission is run on the weekend, as TFH has several members outside of the Americas. This all being said, there is the flexibility and support for exceptions, as real life events happen and take priority. About TFH; we have 5 dedicated servers running 24/7 with SRS and TacView, and you can always find folks flying. We host Wednesday Warbirds night, Friday fun night and throughout the year, hold dogfighting competitions and airshows, all of which are all voluntary. TFH also host’s voluntary training throughout the year, to provide specific skills that allow us to improve unit cohesion. We're limiting to looking for those who are in the NA time zone, and can attend training nights during the week, usually 1800 PST. Our discord channel : https://discord.gg/GqtkHcTA [TFH]Rix

Same here - just did a complete new OS install, never had this issue with SteamVR before, and haven't found the solution.
