Screen tearing in DCS with a 60Hz monitor
Cy-27 replied to Cy-27's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is there any monitor at 144hz that supports freesync? -
My monitor is 60Hz. My GPU is a AMD RX5700. The fps is often above 60 and the screen tearing is terrible. So I turn on the AMD Chill to lock my fps bettween 59 and 61, or just give it to 60. However, the screen tearing does not disappear. I do not know why. I do not want to turn on sync because the fps will jump bettween 30 and 60, which gives out a strong feeling of stutter. Will the screen tearing disappear if I get a 144Hz monitor?

The same as mine.It is a bug.

GPU performance test in DCS2.5.6 for the forum
Cy-27 replied to Cy-27's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Amazing. Maybe you should try another version of the Nvidia driver. -
I just send a Trouble ticket to user support and their response is that Nvidia GPU runs a bit faster; I actually own a RX5700 and compare it with my firend's GTX1070, mine is 57 fps, his is 53 fps. The RX5700 is just have 5%~10% advantage over GTX1070 in DCS. Another firend has a RTX2060 and his fps just is higher than my RX5700. Except that AMD GPU has worse fps, the AMD driver does not support adaptive sync with a fixed refreshrate monitor. Nvidia does support it. For a AMD gpu, if you turn on the sync, the fps just switch bettween 30 and 60 which gives me a strong feeling of stutter.

With default setting, the fps is low at low altitude. What's their difference?

What about your Nvidia driver setting? -
My config: R5 3600, 32G RAM@3200MHz, RX5700. In the server my PC stutters and the GPU usage is not steady. The server has about 20 people for PVP air combat. The longer I play DCS, the stutter occurs more. And turning down the graphic setting do not solve it.

I don't know who has better performance in DCS. I just play DCS in 1440p resolution.

I just want to play DCS in 1080p above 60 fps with 4X msaa, shadows high, textures high, trees and grass maxed out, ground shadow default, visible range maxed out. Is 2060 enough?

sync lock bettween 30fps and 60fps

I tried and the screen tearing is so terrible even though my fps is below 60. -
sync lock bettween 30fps and 60fps
Cy-27 replied to Cy-27's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I just play DCS with full screen. Actually I never press LAlt+Enter. -
Without DCS game graphic setting sync turned on, the fps just changes between 45 and 55. However, with sync on, the fps directly locks at 30. My monitor is 60Hz refleshrate and GPU is RX5700 and the 30 fps gives me a strong feeling of stutter. I don't know if a Nvidia card will lock at 30 fps. So you may call me to turn off the sync, but the screen will always tear. Maybe DCS need a adaptive sync graphic option to solve my problem, and it is not necessary for Nvidia card because its driver support it, however the AMD card don't support adaptive sync in driver and you have to buy a freesync monitor which gives it a hardware support. My monitor is 60 freshrate. So I just want to lock it at 60fps without screen tearing. However, with sync turned on, the fps just switch bettween 30 and 60, which gives me a feeling of stutter. My GPU is rx 5700, and I have to turn down my graphic settings to lock it at 60 fps, otherwise it may hit 30 fps. I have tried the enhance sync, but it works badly in DCS. AMD card do not support adaptive sync, while the Nvidia does. Many years ago there are two third-party software called Radeon Pro and D3DOverider support adaptive sync for AMD card, but they do not update in recent 5 years so they are both not functional now. I do not own a freesync monitor. Maybe I should buy a Nvidia card. I hate the AMD card, it is bad for DCS.

I get a AMD RX5700 card. My monitor is 1080p@60Hz. If I turn on the sync in the game, high latency will occur, which I cannot tolerate. So I turn on the Enhanced Sync in the AMD driver, and the latency almostly disappears. However, the game will see decent stutter especialy in the F3 aircraft flyby view. The stutter only appears in a game DCS World, I don't know if I should ask for support from ED or AMD.

Calculatinge budget for new rig... some doubts.
Cy-27 replied to Baco's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
GTX16 series is not enough, you just need a RTX2060 or RTX2060S for 1080p DCS. Don't buy amd card, because Nvidia runs better in DCS. -
Possible PC Performance Issue with DCS
Cy-27 replied to TheStrikeEagle's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
How about your GPU usage? Maybe there are some problems with your GPU, such as the driver. -
AMD GPU runs worse than Nvidia in DCS. You just need a RTX2060 or RTX2060S. It is not meaningful for you to get a X570, your present B450 is enogh for Ryzen7 3700X. R7 3700X is more meaningful for productivity use. For DCS, the Ryzen5 3600 is enough. Both have the same single core capability. You should know, DCS now runs only a CPU core for sim. So you just only need to change your CPU to R5 3600(DON'T FORGET TO UPDATE YOUR MOTHERBOAD BIOS) and change your GPU to RTX2060 or RTX2060S. Overclock for Ryzen 3000 series is difficult, but I like to lock their all core frequency at 4.2Ghz.

F/A-18C radar elevation control(HOTAS) auto center?
Cy-27 replied to Cy-27's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Thanks! I have understood it and accepted it. -
Recently I use a wheel on my throttle to control the radar elevation of F/A-18C, the wheel cannot center automatically, so if my wheel is not centered, the radar elevation continues to move. But for JF-17, the radar elevation won't move unless you rotate the wheel. So I think it is necessary for the DCS:F/A-18C to have an option to decide between the two modes. Sorry for my poor English, I hope all of you can uderstand my meaning.

MSAA 4X? -
Don't buy 5700/5700XT, just buy RTX2060S or RTX2070, because Nvidia runs better in DCS than AMD(also for the reason that unbelievable so bad the AMD driver). For CPU just choose 3600X.

Now I have to say that my 5700 has the same performance with 1070 in DCS…
