  1. Where do you get the nvidia systems tool? Is it safe/easy to overclock the card and does it buy you much in frame rate?
  2. Thanks, I'll try that (if I can figure out how).
  3. The track IR folks suggested the same thing to me but my set up is smooth as silk as is. But good reminder that folks have a couple of options when setting up track IR with TVs this big. Another suggestion/tip - I use a girl's hair barrette instead of a headset. I wanted to hear my AV 5.1 receiver and not be forced to listen through earphones. It's feather light and very comfortable.
  4. As with any LCD or Plasma, it's best to use the TV's native resolution. For my plasma it's 1920x1080. I'm not using SLI but have one Nvidia GTX 285 with 1 GB memory. I've got all the in-game graphic options set as high as they will go and notice only slight slowdowns when flying over huge cities with lots of smoke and burning tanks, etc.

  6. Thought I'd share my set up with ya'll. 60 in plasma TV for a monitor hooked up into my 5.1 AV receiver. Wireless keyboard and mouse so I can sit back. Notice the track IR is mounted on a tri-pod to the left since I have to sit so far back. Computer is a 2.88 quad core, windows 7. One sweet ride.

  8. Now not even that works. It continually locks up shortly after starting. Oh well, it looked real fun too,
  9. This campaign locks up on the 2nd mission on me too. I have to go to an exterior view and wait 10 sec before taking off. Any idea what's causing this? Ny, bolshoi spacebo!
  10. I'm still a noob (had the game for a month) but have the basics down good enough to try campaign mode. There's a "server" mode where you can host a game and other people can see it right? What I'm getting at is if anyone wants to hook up on line and fly around, just practicing flight or weapons, PM me and we can set up an agreed time. Maybe enough of us can create our own virtual squadron. I'm willing to give it a shot.
  11. Nothng hurt over here, hope yours aren't. Just trying to keep it light while I learn this stuff. All these questions have been hashed and rehashed - there'll always be a next group trying to figure this stuff out. That's what a forum is for
  12. How do you see and select from the available skins in the mission editor? Yes, Sobek, I'm sure this has been asked before.
  13. I get the message telling me my skin has been applied but always get the default skin. Do the skins listed in the pull down list mean those are the ones I have, or is it a default list and doesn't mean I necessarily have them? I've chosen several from the list and always get the message yet I always get the default skin in the game. Thanks.
  14. I'm also setting them with DscMAX with no effect.
  15. Can't figure out how to select skins in mission editor.:smilewink:
  16. Do you have the throttle levers in AUTO (Page Down twice) and the L, R engine generators ON? That would cause it (ask me how I know).
  17. Thanks goldfinger35 and H-street, I'll give those suggestions a try.
  18. If they just added zoom in/out to option 1 all would be good.
  19. Yep. I was doing Dragon's training mission with severe weather. Wouldn't have thought it possible to have the Shark go Tango Uniform for shattered blades, but I proved it can happen.
  20. I remapped it from ALT+C to the space bar with the same goal in mind.
  21. Thanks. It's good to not suffer alone.
  22. One time, the shark started vibrating violently after starting the right engine. I was thinking WTF and went to an exterior view - there were blade pieces on the ground. Somehow, the blades had collided. Pretty cool. I was grounded until I found a new ride.
  23. I haven't seen this posted and have only been BSing (lol) for a couple of weeks so pardon if this is a known condition. There are three mouse control options- option 1- a "+", clickable cockpit, no head movement, no zoom option 2- a "+", clickable cockpit, head movement, zoom in/out w/ mouse wheel option 3- no "+", no clickable cockpit, no head movement, zoom in/out w/mouse wheel I'm going from memory but I think those are the 3 options. I started seeing the graphics "glitch", and "jitter" as I threw switches during start up. At first I thought the trackIR was acting up, but did some experimenting and conclude that option 2 above is causing it. As I drag the mouse from switch to switch it's also trying to move my head but the trackir is overriding the movement, kinda like a forcefight where the trackir wins. This gives the jittering effect. I think I'm just now noticing it because I used to use option 1, but got used to zooming in on the switches and started using option 2. What's more, it seems to lessen with time (i.e replaying a mission and the "jittering" calms down, but the forcefight is still there). Anyway, the graphics are rock steady using option 1. Just wanted to know if anyone has picked up on this. Hope this made sense.
  24. As far as route mode, I'm finding that it seems to work fine (including the light illuminating) if I wait to turn on the PVI-800 to OPER after the throttle lever is in AUTO and the L, R engine generators are ON (inverter light goes off on overhead panel). Turning on the PVI-800 during start up prior to the above leads to the erratic behavior.
