Thanks, I was afraid of that. I flew a mission last night where I gunned down an enemy helicopter head to head. His burning wreckage flew into my windshield and took me out. Pretty intense footage. I kept the track file hoping I could convert it so I could post it.
-
How do you convert the .trk file into a .wav/.wmv/.mpg file? Thanks

Is there no free flight to pratice manouvers?
Woots replied to Veers's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You're making this way too compicated! Just select "shooting range" from the mission menu. It starts you sitting on the apron with a cold start. You can practice starting/flying/shutdown to your heart's content. The "mission" is to shoot vehicles at the target range but it's up to you if you do it or not. I use this mission for this very purpose. I usually just end up flying around and practicing maneuvers. Also, use "convoy hunt" mission if you want to begin with the helo already started for you. Just ignore the mission and fly around the airfield instead. EDIT: I see SWEINHART3 and others already mentioned this. Great minds think alike :) -
I've noticed some mods simply replace a .lua file with certain options enabled/disabled. I believe the "cockpit view and trackIR fix" mod is an example, you could just as easily disable mouse look in the .lua file yourself and not use the mod. I personally like to enable "cockpit jiggle" with the LCRTL-J key. This is listed under view options and gives a slight vibration when in cockpit view. It would be very convenient if I could just enable it in a .lua file so I wouldn't have to manual key it every time I start a mission. Question: Anyone know if "cockpit jiggle" could be enabled by default via a .lua file and which file it would be?

You can also use Himachi (free download). You start multiplayer as the server and your friend starts multiplayer as client and enters your Himachi IP. Works great.

Thanks for the fun Machinegun. Definately have to do it again!

Page 6-63 of the manual walks you thru it.

In the cockpit view, moving the mouse to click switches is AGAIN interfering with trackIR headmovement, giving view glitches (the mouse and trackIR are both trying to control the view - a known condition). Way back when I installed the above mod and it fixed this. But now it's back. I uninstall the mod using modman, then reinstalled - it doesn't help anymore. It makes no sense that the mod would just quit working. So how do I manually get it to stop? All the mod does is replace the view.lua - so I manually replaced the view.lu in the config/view folder with the one in the mod zip file - it still doesn't help. I did a system restore recently and is the only thing that could have caused it.

I think most people assign them to the joystick POV buttons, the so called "coolie hat" buttons. That's how I have mine, couldn't be more convenient or accurate.

I didn't want to be one of the hordes who starts a thread on his system locking up, post a couple of follow ups, then just fade away with no resolution. It hasn't locked up in quite a while now, even on the infamous "Area Defense" mission (actually a .trk file that you can take over and fly - it's listed under REPLAY in the game menu). What was causing the lock ups? I have a theory - I'm using a Saitek Cyborg 3D USB Gold joystick and it has no software support for Win 7. So I used the default win 7 drivers and it works fine. BUT I COULDN'T LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE. I wanted the profiler software for it to work also so customer support convinced me to load in the drivers for another stick. Of course it didn't work for my stick but always showed as running in the task list. I have since removed the incompatible profiler software and I think that did the trick. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it.:)

Actually, "RESET" will always work for the "tv screen". As for the HUD - if you were using the cannon, you have to deselect it before the HUD will return to NAV mode.

As you can see from the thread, I was wrapped around the axle on this too. My monitor is a 60" plasma at 60 Hz. The game will report no higher than 60 fps with Vsync on since that's all your 60 hz monitor can handle (I can get upwards of 100 fps occasionally on my rig with Vsync off but the tearing is horrible). It will report < 60 fps when it drops (though your monitor is now updating at 30 Hz). This caused noticeable stuttering on my rig, going from 60-30-60 again. I originally tried to set MaxPFS setting to 60, to limit the fps to exactly 60 and avoid using vsync (vsync costs a little performance when enabled). In theory this would have worked, but MaxFPS isn't exact enough. It couldn't limit to exactly 60 FPS so I was still getting tearing with Vsync off. So I am back to using Vsync but am also forcing triple buffer with Rivatuner which gives smoother gameplay.

Ethereain, It listed 4 files under problem reports in the control panel. This is the only text fie, the others I don't know what kind they are but they are huge files. AppCompat.txt

copy, I'll fly the "Area Defense" mission under the "REPLAY" menu selection. Guaranteed to lock up. Then I'll get that info. Thanks BTW, played various other SP missions for ~ 2 hours last night. Ran smooth as silk with no issues. Maybe something in the above mission is screwy?

Screen size and resolution are two different things. Changing one does not affect the other. You should probably state that "windows desktop has to be resized in the video card control panel which reduces the effective viewable area". The resolution hasn't changed. Anyway, looks like we mean the same thing:thumbup:

It just crashed again. I found this error log.

Negative. Put the resolution back to the TV's native resolution. Right click on the desktop to access your video card control panel and stretch or shrink your desktop to fit your screen. This was the first thing I had to do myself.

I rolled my system back to early Jan, back before the lock ups started. There's a mission under the "REPLAY" menu, forgot the name but it's "defense of . . . " something. I can get it to lock up at will in this mission by hovering over the airport after wheels up, sending my wingmen to reconnoiter and waiting for them to call in the contacts. So I try it again after the system restore. Well, it locked up again, which tells me it would have done it back in Jan if I had done this mission. I had a brand new system back then. So I restarted the mission but flew around some this time, still sending wingmen out for reconaissance - no lock up this time. So Ethereain, my goal is accomplished. This thread is proving I'm not alone, which is all I wanted to know. No offense, but in their eagerness to help, I've been told to reload the game, don't use onboard soundcards, change your screen saver, hit F2 before going to run, the list is endless. Add memory leaks. Most of it is garbage. Here's the progression: 1st crash - hmmmm that was weird 2nd crash - didn't it do that once before? 3rd crash - OK, I know it's done that before 4th crash - Am I the only one? (hence this thread) 5th-10th - WTF Personally, I feel lucky the game is running as stable as it is, what with all the modman patches, it being a 32 bit game on a 64 bit system, etc. BTW, After the rollback, I did change my system settings to not automatically install updates. As I go to turn the computer off it says "please do not turn off your computer, installing updates". *&*#@#*&!!!
-
I might do a system roll back since this started happening recently. Where's the setting to prevent automatic windows 7 updates? You're the second person to remind me that auto updates could be a factor. Thanks,
-
It's crashed maybe 4x in four months. Just enough that I was curious if it I was the only one. I've got a brand new system (only four months old and this is the ONLY installed application, other than Adobe Acrobat). I'd be pi$$ed if I already have to dork with drivers or have hardware issues. "It's just a cough Doc, nothing to worry about, right?"

I just wanted to know if anyone else's game was occasionally locking up. It happened twice last weekend and once last night. Mostly when in multiplayer games, but one was solo. I know this begs "what kind of set up do you have" and all that. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, just curious if anyone else gets an occasional crash. Thanks

Just be sure to set the game to the native resolution of your LCD. For me, that was 1920x1080. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=810624&postcount=1
