One of the first things I normally check is a visual on the flight control surfaces and movement of same in relation to control inputs and from memory I believe they all looked normal but I will definately check them again thanks. Doesn't address why everything seems to speed up as well though! we are talking a full 360 rotation on Helo in about 1-2 secs!!! Cheers

Hi guys, as a fairly new user to DCS I am still slowly learning how to handle the aircraft both fixed and flingwing. I was making slow but steady progress until yesterday when I downloaded the Spitfire and coincidentally since then my aircraft seem to loose control almost immediately. It seems mainly affecting yaw or rudder inputs. For instance when I input left rudder on the Spitfire I cannot turn the opposite way without stopping first and then the same happens in the new direction. I have checked all the bindings to make sure that nothing is conflicting and it seems ok as does the fine tune in axis settings. it also seems as if all movement suddenly goes into overdrive and speeds up. Really weird. Can anyone give me some input here? I am just about to carry out a repair on the DCS and also try the Beta version to see if the same thing is occurring. I have the latest DCS standard version and I am using a TM Warthog HOTAS . Cheers K

New A-10C owner needing a little help with HOTAS
subseauk replied to subseauk's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi, I ran up DCS last night and set the columns for the A-10C to default under the HOTAS headers and all the buttons appeared to be there. However, when I started up a training mission the buttons did not seem to function. The only one I rebound was the Chinese hat on the joystick from view to trim functions as I intend to use VR once I get the HOTAS sorted. I know this fault may lay with me but I would say at this point I'm not overly impressed with the issue. it seems with ED that they sell you a lot of hype and then the users have to sort out the program themselves with help from guys like you who can spare time to assist. I have to admit I am not the most PC minded person having come from Apple but this way of doing business just seems very poor. I am thinking of opening a ticket with ED for their input. Rant over :) Thanks again for your help so far. Cheers:thumbup: -
New A-10C owner needing a little help with HOTAS

Don't know about the TARGET profile, is there any way to check one way or the other? -
I don't remember using the TM T.A.R.G.E.T for combining the stick and throttle but I am going to do a reinstall of the A-10C tonight and also try a repair. I will have to check what firmware version is in the HOTAS do you know what it should be by any chance? Would it make a difference that I have been using the HOTAS for helicopters as well? Cheers for the input:thumbup:

New A-10C owner needing a little help with HOTAS
subseauk replied to subseauk's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi, I just installed the A-10 assuming that the bindings would all match up to the throttle and joystick but other than the joystick movement nothing seems to have bindings ie no buttons work. I will look when I get on tonight to confirm. I will also try deleting and repair as you suggest. Cheers -
Hi guys, just taken the plunge and bought the A-10C as I already have the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS. I was under the impression having been told in the past that the TM Warthog would be automatically mapped to control the A-10C but having just tried it this does not seem to be the case unless I'm missing something. Can anyone help as I really don't want to go through binding everything from scratch if not required!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Brilliant, not what I was hoping for but really appreciate the fast response Rudel. Where do I activate the "of line " bit? Cheers:thumbup:

Hi all, may be a stupid question but I have the stand alone version and Open Beta. I purchased the Huey, Gazelle and Super Carrier & Persian Gulf items from ED shop. I was under the impression that these items belonged to me and in stand alone I did not need anything else!! Due to internet issues at the moment I cannot connect my PC to the network / internet accesss and now even using the stand alone I am getting messages on start up saying the above modules and aircraft cannot be loaded due to a licensing issue!! WTF Do we not own the items we have paid for??
-
Hi Sporg, another quick question for you, the program OTT & Oculus software seem to be different from what I have downloaded as several items are different or missing when compared to your guide. Any chance you could review latest versions and show updated instructions as I find it a bit confusing at times! ( my problem not yours LoL ) cheers mate

Hi mate, so if you're using the quest in room mode how do you get it to ignore the desk etc? I tried doing the draw area mode but it detects the desk !! Another thing I noticed was that it was in the Beta version that I was having all the issues but not when I used the stand alone version, do you think that may be the problem? Thanks for the link to the guide, I will have a look and see what differences if any there is between yours and mine. Are you also using the Warthog HOTAS as well then? Cheers

Hi all, just moved from lounge to small office area with desk etc. I finally had the Quest up and running in the lounge but now after moving I cant seem to get it out of the Quest home page and cannot see the VR desktop selector which was there previously that enabled a mirror of the PC desktop ( thus preventing me from starting DCS etc ). The other problem seems to be related to wanting to use the sitting down option rather than the guardian area. As soon as I select the sitting option the screen goes black and I have to shut down and start again!! If I stay on the defined guardian area it picks up the desk etc and is not usable in that!! Is there any way to force the Quest to ignore desks etc in the area or how do you increase the defined area in stationary mode? This is driving me nuts having just gotten it all running, cant go back to the lounge due to orders from her indoors!!! Any help / pointers would be most appreciated. Cheers:thumbup: K

Thats why I asked the question,:music_whistling: I am predominantly a fling wing pilot in real life and very little SIM time in DCS!! Thanks:thumbup:

Thanks guys, one last possibly stupid question can the A-10C operate from super carrier? I have this module and it could affect what aircraft to go for next! Yes I know, I bought it due to blood rush to brain LoL.

Serious question guys, I have just bought the TM Warthog HOTAS unfortunately it did not arrive in time to try it with the A10-C during lockdown. As a complete newb to DCS and VR I was wondering if it was with spending the 50 bucks on the aircraft or should I wait to see if there is updates etc? I am particularly interested to hear if the A10-C comes with the HOTAS completely mapped to the TM Warthog or whether I would have to program all the keys in? With regards to VR does the cockpit look good or are dials etc difficult to read etc. Cheers for the feedback.

Thanks for the swift response lobo. The order of starting things up seems to be what I have found out to be the problem in general but now you have confirmed that I can strike that of the list at least LOL. I have been doing the same as yourself venturing into mapping the Throttle as the collective (reversed). I have a few hundred hours on real helicopters but next to nothing on sims so a new learning curve for me here and I didn't want to get bogged down in setting up things that didn't really need it. Now to look at voiceatack!! Thanks for the help.

Hi tomeye, Thanks for the reply, I had a quick look over the link you gave and it all seems a bit confusing to me! ( not hard Lol ). Are you using the program yourself? Have you setup a control / button mapping for the Huey? I have the Huey and the gazelle so would be looking for Key / button mapping for both but have not been able to find anything usable for a non technical person. I'm sure I will get there eventually but I would like to get up and running on at least one aircraft as soon as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi all, I would consider myself as a new user to DCS and I am slowly building up my system to the point of having Quest LINK VR, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Downloaded Voice attack but not used as yet. Please bear with me LoL:helpsmilie: Now I have used the Quest a few times and when I have gotten it to work I am blown away with VR. However, it does not always play nice which may be down to me or not with how and what order I start programs on the PC. ie DCS first or Quest first etc. If it refuses to play I cannot get the VR view of DCS aircraft which is a Pain in the Rear to be honest. Is there a defined way or order in starting VR up to get consistent results? Also with regards to the TMW HOTAS. I would like to use this with Helicopters but struggle to get the split throttle setup for RPM and Collective separately. Are there any Flingwing jockeys that have profiles saved for Helicopter use? Is there anywhere that stored profiles can be found/downloaded? Also would I be correct in assuming that all the correct bindings would already be in place for the TMW HOTAS if I purchased the A10-C from ED or would I have to troll through the setup for this anyway? Lots of questions but I have searched and seem unable to find clear instructions, there are a lot of refferences to LUA files but I openly admit to being technically illiterate in this area so any help would be really appreciated. Cheers:thumbup: SubseaUK

Have I made a BIG mistake with Oculus Quest??
subseauk replied to subseauk's topic in Virtual Reality
cheers for the info galinette  -
Hi, well I thought I had a solution for the rudder as I had an old set with toe brakes but unfortunately they were game port type connector so I bought a converter to USB and they just don't seem to work as we'll as I expected so I'll be putting them up for sale on Ebay as they would be more suited to something like MS Flight sim etc. I just can't afford to go the route of buying another usb set right now. I would love to go down a similar route as yourself but again the costs are prohibitive for me at the moment!!! Thanks for the response

Hi all, I recently purchased a warthog HOTAS and was hoping to find someone who is using the same for a helicopter setup. Also does the A-10C automatically have the correct assignments for buttons etc already built in ? Cheers
