So I finally got my track IR 5 in the mail yesterday and I was fn excited to say the least...well after coming home late didn't think I would install it last night but I had to try it out. So I fire up Blackshark of course...only other sim I might try it and play with is FSX later. Works so well so far...the one thing is that sometimes it shakes (prob me) so when I come in up close to press a button in the heat of things might be a bit tricky...I moved smoothness up to 2 and speed to 4 on the software what you guys have for settings? One thing was landing the heli now was cake...it was like parking a car...at least I didn't land on fire although the first time I bumped into a truck and apparently exploded a min later lol However as for the campaign so I beat the 2nd mission (escort) in deployment campaign...I don't know how though I did terrible...I don't think I did anything except flail around the area of the ambush...maybe they got scared I was going to crash right into them and left? I fired some rockets into the bushes where I saw gun fire...anyone know for sure there are actually infantry or something there right? Anyways maybe I couldn't control it long enough to zoom in and search...either way I'm now on the third mission... Anyone make it a point to land after mission success? Does it really matter? I mean I would and did...but then shut down my heli in a terrible uneducated fashion...not sure any of this would impact the static campaign...unless the other theaters besides deployment are actually more dynamic like I heard... Deployment just for training purposes? If so that would be good anyways since I still suck at combat. :pilotfly:Ill try to make it to some rookie multiplayer one of these days

you sure the fact that apparently you work at lockheed doesn't influence your opinion at all? lol plus how do you guys know that the pak is so inferior to the raptor?

I miss FSX I need to build some sort of mounting thing for my desk for my ch yoke... yeah FSX actually looks pretty amazing with full detail res and bloom...not to mention direct x 10 capable. that's cool flying...too bad it's likely on a low end machine I imagine

lol I wish I could share your optimism my friend, but diplomacy has never gone hand in hand with the military. and even though there is no war per say don't worry the military suits will find a way to come up with a reason. And I'm pretty sure that 6th or new 5th gen fighter is on its way whether I like it or not would be great if they stopped at the f-35 but when has research to development ever stopped for a second in the past? its one big money machine going around in circles...no real wars needed...just 'conflicts' or the threat of one.

heh I got you man, but I was actually trying to defend the Russians because who's really trying to always out gun everyone is the US...you are right and why should the US rush to develop something better but that's the point, they probably are and there's no way in hell that IF the Raptor retires the US will just fly upgraded blocs of older jets and the F-35 (which again is an international plane sorta...many countries will have it...JOINT strike etc.)

that's exactly my point...the US is already working on a new fighter program and the billions spent on the Raptor shall go away within a few years... my point being was it all really worth it? unless you have a hard on for war I don't exactly want my tax paying dollars spent on little science experiments like the Raptor ...they screwed up by how much the thing costs

you think the US is simply going to let Russia have the most advanced a-a fighter? they are gonna blow a couple more billion on the next x-fighter program...endless cycle...but we all knew that...just saying as much as I love jets and planes...they will find a way to screw all taxpayers over as usual just to have the next best thing always.

well ... let's see F-14 Introduction: September 1974 Retired September 2006 F-16 Introduced: Aug. 1978 ACTIVE F-15 Introduced: Jan. 1976 ACTIVE F-18 Introduced: Jan. 1983 ACTIVE so if my terrible math serves me correctly that's way over 15 years each...they are also around 30 mil a piece (well the new hornets are doubled but still less than 150mil) now if we're talking about war here...as I assume the purpose of these jets... nothing really surpasses the F-16, F-18 etc. matches yes, Mig 29 so forth...now F-35? well since it looks like everyone and their grandmother is getting one then you can add that to the mix but it's no A-A fighter...(you still need A-A obviously) That leaves us with the F-22...without a doubt the most advanced air superiority fighter that can take control of the skies...and remember the famous saying something along the lines of you take control of the skies first then you control the war or something... anyways so that gets retired in practically no time...while you have the Russians with the new FA T-50 to match the Raptor and it costs about 100mil close to Raptor cost. so what will the US do now? obviously build a 6th gen a-a fighter to outmatch the russians...if they don't have the money now to fund the F-22 program I guess they said **** it let's make the newest and best shit out there to beat everyone else mainly the russians and release it by 2025 and by then everyone will forget how much more money we'll spend. I assume that's the plan...

I'm sure they can preserve the planes or log less flight hours...I mean if we're talking about structural stress via flight to the frame and needing to replace it right? Unless it's made out of some material that decays in a matter of 10 years or it could be an excuse to build another fighter...all I'm saying is that it's a tremendous waste of cash if it's gonna be retired 15 years later and is way ahead of any a-a fighter jet right now

well they better keep those puppies in the hangar then because with all the new variants of older jets (ie hornet) etc. there is no jet right now or in the near future that can match the F-22 by the time F-35s come out and if they land in the other side's hand (whoever that side is for the US) then they'll be forced to take the F-22s out of retirement or make a new better 6th gen jet...which I'm sure they are working on. what a waste of cash for a jet that flew a couple of shit missions...145 mil for a bird to expensive to keep in the air

I'm sorry but I don't believe the F22 is gonna get retired by 2025 maybe just maybe 2035 they'll start thinking about it...if so what a ****ing huge waste of money...it's a 5th gen stealth fighter that can out fly the f-35 which isn't even out yet...how bout retire all the f-15s and our beloved falcons first? lol even the b-2 should still be flying...if its maintance cost then the military needs to rethink their long term strategy rather than shitting out 2 billion dollar bricks only to retire them before an actual war. look at how long our vietnam /cold war era jets flew for

honestly there are so many good upcoming sims coming and great ones that are out already including BS that I wouldn't really want to spend any time on something that a) was released a long time ago b) realism is up to snuff (probably was great back in the day) c) time to move forward...hell I'm even off Falcon now I just play BS or FSX (I still think it's a great lil sim for the civilian enthusiast in you) Would I buy FC 2.0? you know I think it's great lock on simmers can fly with BS simmers...and I will definitely be in the Blackshark flying alongside next to ya ;) looking forward to Battle of Britain though and A-10 from ED

and yeah... I can see how this was state of the art back in the day...hell it looks great now still. I can't really tell if the flight models are incredible or not realistic. overall realism wise I can't really tell either how good it is exactly from the short time I played. The main thing is that no aircraft is truly modeled in detail which takes away alot everytime you fly...I mean there's no clickable cockpit it seems? still after flying allied force and blackshark any sim looks like cake ;p so I had some fun flying around killing stuff. that's really about it...not sure if I would get this or flaming cliffs 2 yet...still got alot to learn with blackshark. once my track ir 5 comes next week I'm back on Blackshark and hopefully do some multiplayer.

just was reading about this on their site yesterday...looks incredible...but for sure cannot afford it now I have enough gadgets and hotas to get me through the next few sims hehe

land? well if I make a good landing it usually takes about 2 hours..to land...or 1 minute when face slamming the ground and end up sideways next to the runway

Just ordered it...seems like it's going to be a crucial piece of hardware to run a hardcore sim like Blackshark nowadays... They have a discount in price so seemed like a good deal even though I know there's something called FreeCam which uses your webcam which I don't have but anyways... Anyone here use it? I assume so, how crucial is it for one to master this sim? I had a hard time panning around with my mouse for the controls. Djr
