  1. Hey, Wolf, Just for ease your mind, I've played Lomac on a P4 3GHz and AMD 64 3500+ with AGP 6800GT and can confirm that while the 6800GT added some relief to smoke and overcast framerates, it really was the CPU that counted most. LOMAC is quite simply CPU intensive any way you slice it after you throw AI into the mix. In fact a GF3 ti500 was able to play well enough with the P4 3GHz processor when I tried it! The only thing that will make everyone's Utopian LOMAC dream come true is a MUCH faster proc (oh say 5GHz by the P4 standard) AND a fast video card (ATI X850)! spearsd
  2. Yes, I should just relax; can't... unclench.. fist....... from... flight-stick!!! Damn, after seeing those vids showing off the AFM, I'm just drooling :) That's ok, I've taken a renewed interest in F4.0+FF3+bunch_of_theaters to keep me occupied. hmmm, but I'm really missing all the eye candy of LOMAC! -spearsd
  3. Re: A64 3500+ w/ SLI BFG 6800GT OC PCI-E Yes, as a matter of fact, I took it upon myself to call those guys and bitch at them about a week ago for that ridiculous price. It's NOT the first time I've seen this company jack prices like that (like that meaning $$$ above the rest). I wouldn't buy from them if they were the last place on earth... unless that actually happens, and uh.... unless its Flaming Cliffs  That's just not likely! -spearsd Now look at this! EVGA 6800GT for 918 US dollars!!!!! http://www.atacom.com/program/print_html_new.cgi?&USER_ID=www&cart_id=9476318_68_95_37_219&Item_code=VIDR_EVGA_FX_66 INSANE! And on top of that misery, the card specs calls for the AGP interface!!!
  4. Chizh, You ARE the MAN!!! ;-)
  5. End of January... News Flash!!! Check out... http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?lang=en End of January?
  6. Man, that's a tall order.... maybe, the X700 Pro 128MB for $165? Yes, I know that's $65 over your request, but there's not many PCI-E cards at that price-point worth considering for gaming. If you move up to $200, your options will open up a bit. Anyone else have a suggestion? -spearsd
  7. Merry Christmas!!!
  8. Re: Devs, can this be possible? Random explosions? D-Scythe, I like this idea!!! Being able to drop it as an icon in the editor with a radius of effect and density would be mucho-cool! It would really add an extra feeling of immersion in those runs through hot-zones if combined with AA and/or SAM. For now, I'll settle for FC under my tree  Maybe, in the future though? -spearsd
  9. Re: A64 3500+ w/ SLI BFG 6800GT OC PCI-E Chumbo.com has the BFG 6800GT OC 256MB PCI-E for $399USD - BFG has a lifetime warranty and this is the version with dual DVI connectors. My order was placed two days ago (see top of thread) when they were offerring free overnight shipping. It seems I was barely passed over even though it said in stock when I ordered , but I'm on target for the next shipment 5-10 days from now. -spearsd BTW, where in the world did you find this card? 6800 PCI-E series cards are so rare, and when you find one the price astronomicly high!
  10. Chizh, Where's my Christmas present, darn it!!!??? BTW, what day are you guys celebrating on? -spearsd
  11. Damn, that hasn't been there very long (I know, because that's the place I had been hoping would get them in)!!! In fact, I checked the Anandtech forums, and that board just became available through NewEgg last night/this morning.
  12. Yes, it's tough to find one right now, but if you're patient and follow these threads you can snag one :-) I'm really happy with the NForce4 board so far, not a single problem with it. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=29&threadid=1449863 http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=29&threadid=1462682&enterthread=y
  13. I'll try not to get our hopes up! This morning I called the people I ordered from to confirm that I was going to receive the vid cards and was told "Yes, we have enough to fill your order". Tonight, I checked order status for a tracking number, but instead find "back-ordered" on my invoice  Oh well, just one of many disappointments suffered due to A-hole bone-head e-tailers this holiday season :x I'll let you know when (if) I get them; sorry about that. Hmmm... I need a cheaper hobby :!: -spearsd
  14. Do you want any AF? Test System: A64 3500+ (90nm) / Zalman CNPS-7000A alcu - Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe v1.02 (1003-002) - XMS512-3200C2 v5.1 (3-3-3-8-1T) - 2x BFG 6800GT OC 256MB PCI-E - Audigy2 ZS - MIT MDP-100 Tuner - Seagate ATA 1x BIV 80GB, 2x BIV 200GB - BenQ DW1620-0C3 DVD DL-RW (B7P9-RPC1) - Antec Sonata / Antec True430W
  15. According to FiringSquad, SLI does nothing for Lock On. Well, tomorrow I should be receiving a pair of BFG 6800GT OC PCI-E cards and able to conduct more conclusive tests os SLI with Lock On. If anyone has specific resolutions and AA/AF settings they want tested, please post them in this thread. I'll do my best to try them (holidays and all). What do I plan on trying? I'm particulary interested in seeing what min/avg/max FPS are with AA/AF cranked up at resolutions between 720x480 and 1920x1080 with vsync on. Will keep you posted. This is all assuming my Antec True430W PS can deal with it... I'm confident the PS requirements are slightly blown out of proportion. We'll see  -spearsd
  16. Re: LockonSkins - Flaming Cliff 1.1 Mini-Preview MrWolf, This is all very encouraging; thanks for your hard work! Is the multiplayer performance better than before? Reliability? Thanks, spearsd
  17. Re: Any News about the Release Candidate ? bump
  18. Right on, Monkey Boy!!! I thought it was a good read  -spearsd
  19. Bump.. Hello? Yeah, what he (Andy) said  This would be happy-happy-joy-joy!!! -spearsd
  20. It really depends on what existing issues are addressed. Based on the current fix list (which addresses many issues, but not some I find most important), I'd prefer before Christmas. If they're going to make multiplayer actually work and revamp the sound subsystem, I'll wait until hell freezes over  -spearsd
  21. Re: ED, How about something to hold us over? Thanks so much for the heads-up! That's one beauty of a list! One thing concerns me though... There's not a single reference to multiplayer (esp. LAN) performance improvements or fixes. Hmmm... I sure hope something was done to improve this. -spearsd http://lockon.ru/index.php?end_pos=9&lang=en&scr=list&page=4#362  Just found this . . . scroll down to see the bugfix list!! Man, ED has done some seriously cool work with 1.1!! They really need to charge us like crazy for all this new stuff . . . Time for ED to make lots of money!!
  22. Thanks, guys! Y'all are the best!!! Developer's Journal Updated (November 30, 2004) http://www.lockon.ru/index.php?end_pos=15&scr=default&lang=en
  23. RuggButt, I see what you're referring to now... sort of a transparent blue combing effect in the horizontal? Yes, that is abnormal... do not see that on my 9600XT, 9800XT, or GF3 Ti500. Very peculiar. -spearsd
