  1. Oh, one last thing, Prophet_169th... If you change graphics settings "in-game", I think the aspect ratio will revert back to 4:3... or atleast, it did for me in 1.02. Of course, then you have to go back into the config file and set it to your desired value again :( -spearsd
  2. DMUT, It appears this thread named "1.1 Copy Protection Update" HAS transformed from a simple informational announcement into technical / public relations *discussion*. Sorry to interject my previous comment; I'd like nothing better than to see the copy protection implemented in a secure, and practical way. I was just VERY shocked at your findings about the security vulnerability in contrast to statements made by StarForce earlier in the thread. I'll Look forward to reading the progress of this thread, and thank you for your hard work  spearsd, it's a technical discussion. do you have something to say?
  3. :shock: You're joking, right? *hitting the submit button before rethinking it* unfortunately, I still able to reproduce this issue with well-known "starforcemeat" exploit with new version of SF dated 2005,Feb. my drivers versions: sfdrv01.sys 1.27 prodrv06.sys 6.51 sfhlp01.sys 1.5 sfhlp02.sys 2.1 prohlp02.sys 2.51 sfsync02.sys 2.6 prosync1.sys 1.6 edit: prodrv06.sys 6.51 -> 6.52 prohlp02.sys 2.51 -> 2.52
  4. Are you sure the threads are gone? Could it be the search engine is botched? I remember trying to "re-find" a thread there a couple weeks ago, and for the life of me, couldn't get the same search I'd used in the past to fine the thread I was looking for. I then found a direct cross-ref from another thread and was able to see it. Something is definitely screwed up though. -spearsd
  5. 16:9 aspect ratio works fine here (1.777777:1) on an 11ft diagnal front projection screen at 1368x768@56Hz (native resolution) using DVI. Of course, at this size, FSAA/AA (2x, 2x) is an absolute must  Sometimes, I have to take a break because I'm getting vertigo  ! As mentioned, the simulator scales the image perfectly, but some of the other screens (menu's and map) appear to be stretched.
  6. Yes, TS2 and a good set of padded NR head-phones works great with people crammed together in the same room. :) -spearsd
  7. This problem exists with FSAA on both ATI and NVidia cards (I've owned both). On ATI cards, you can correct the problem by enabling a "Alternate Pixel Centering" option in control panel under Direct3D settings; on NVidia cards, I never did find a way to correct it. Other games that suffer this are BF1942, BFV, OFPR, just to name a few. Sorry, I don't have a solution for you, but maybe it will help you get closer to one :D -spearsd
  8. YeeeeHaaaawwWW!! -spearsd Using numbered screenshots you can render all your track if you want so. The screenshots allow you to render into BMP format (you asked about lossless JPEG that is not the same). The format is set in graphics.cfg file as for common screenshots. Besides I did not mention that in AVIMAker now you can directly set the frame size in pixels and aspect ratio so you can render for non-square pixel format. I think that now the AVIMaker fits all of your wishes.
  9. Yo-Yo, Thanks for the answers. I guess the big problem pre-1.1 with using from/to times was that certain graphics effects such as clouds, weather, civilian traffic, and some other subtle eye-candy would change between recordings (this was discussed over at UBI a while back). Many of us proposed a fix to allow writing multiple sequentially numbered AVI's of a user specified size... I'm sorry to see this didn't make it in :( Also, I know high-quality jpeg is great, but I don't quite understand why they don't allow writing out raw RGB24 screen-shot sequences which would be the choice for optimal quality... ony compress once in the final cut. Anyhoo.... thanks for all the information; it was quite helpful. -spearsd
  10. More questions about AVIMaker... :) Yoyo, Thanks for the information that you have provided. I've been following a couple other threads on the same subject and they've motivated me to ask a few more questions ;-) Does the "screenshot" codec allow lossless JPEG quality and full resolution (whatever resolution you playing in)? Is there an option to generated segmented AVI's of a user specified file size less than 2GB or do we still have a single AVI with the 2GB limit? Also, there are problems with sound synchronization when using AVIMaker in 1.02. Has this been resolved? Is there an option to record the sound track directly to a raw PCM format file for manual remixing? Thanks, -spearsd
  11. Re: Is AVIMaker fixed in 1.1? Thank you, sir! :D -spearsd The AVI maker is significantly fixed and modded in 1.1 so the 2 G limit can be overridden either using "Numbered screenshots" internal Lomac codec or by rendering your track part by part using "From... to..." time setting. The camera bugs in tracks was fixed so it works fine now. Now the AVImaker is a very stable and convenient tool to make movies. "Numbered screnshots" generates a sequence of frames in JPG with controllable quality/size parameter as for common JPG screenshots. Then you can rearrange it into AVI using a video editing program. Besides I should mention that some camera parameters now are in .lua scripts and can be modified by users.
  12. Is AVIMaker fixed in 1.1? Can we record longer HQ movies without cutting and pasting short clips with clouds and other variable graphics that differ from run to run? Any details? Thanks, spearsd
  13. Having owned hardware in the following configurations, I can tell you there is almost no difference in LockOn performance... A64 3500+ Epox 9NDA3+ 6800GT AGP 2x512MB PC3200 A64 3500+ A8N-SLI Deluxe 2x 6800GT OC PCI-E 2x512MB PC3200 The Epox motherboard was a POS (bad caps, bad lan, spontaneous reboots, etc), and was returned for a full refund. The 6800GT AGP was a hold-over for my SLI pair and worked quite well; very stable and fast, and returned to best buy once my SLI pair arrived. :-) The 6800GT OC PCI-E pair was kick-ass in many games, but not in LOMAC. It seemed to help the minimum FPS in many areas, but not enough to make an impression. These, I've recently sold on E-Bay, and I have a PowerColor X850XT VIVO on the way to replace them. Would I invest in an AGP motherboard? No, probably not unless I got one dirt cheap and already had a nice AGP video card. If I were investing in MB+CPU, I'd go for a S939 SLI board, probably DFI or MSI, but definitely not Asus. The S939 CPU interface looks to have lots of life left in it, so you won't be forced to upgrade MB+CPU in another six months. Also, waiting is always an option... looks like good things coming down the line from ATI (new AMR MB chipset and new >16 pipe video cards). -spearsd
  14. Yes, Thanks for the torrent. It worked great!!! Had the demo downloaded at 135kbps. :D -spearsd
  15. Precisely my feelings on the matter ;-)
  16. Stormin, Alfa, and ED, I have no complaints about a late release, but now that the product is "just about out the door" MANY of us ARE hungry for updated information on what problems were addressed, what the final enhancement list consists of (including final LUA support), and how much it will cost. Does anyone really think such a request at this time is unreasonable? :( Perhaps, I'm asking for too much; just a reflection of my enthusiasm for this product. -spearsd
  17. bump
  18. Alfa, Oh, it's being prepared for distribution now? So why don't we have a status update including... - comprehensive bug fix / enhancement documentation - purchasing / packaging options / pricing Surely, at this late stage, these info items are available? Thanks, spearsd
  19. Yeasty, When I get some free time, I'll run the Mig29 track on my A64 6800GT OC SLI setup. -spearsd
  20. bump
  21. People used to post about the "big fire" bug all the time over at UBI forums. I've personally seen it twice during 1.02 multiplayer followed by increasing performance degradation and eventually followed by an application crash. I believe I was running a Radeon 9800XT with Catalyst 4.5 at the time. Haven't seen it with the NVidia 6800GT yet  -spearsd
  22. bump... No news is bad news?
  23. Re: Bug-fix list? bump Yes, a FC bug fix list would be nice right about now and give us some degree of confidence that Flaming Cliffs will be worth... eh... whatever... they are charging for it (yes, a price for CD and download would also be nice). My opinion... Personally, as an addon to LockOn I already paid $39.99 for, $19.99 - 29.99 would seem a fair price for FC (assuming their are significant fixes to the orignal game). Of course, downloading should be cheaper than CD. Just hearing something new from the devs would mean quite a bit. -spearsd
  24. I can tell you a couple things wrong with the current incarnation in 1.02... 1. The AVI size limit is reached quickly, and this could be easily avoided if AVIMaker would support automatic AVI splitting (ability to set AVI segment size, and auto-numbering and creation of sequential AVI files). 2. It seems the actual recorded FOV and/or camera postion doesn't always match the original when recording tracks which makes "in-cockpit" and outside close-ups a biotch to control accurately, especially when recording non-default aspect ratios. 3. Sound loses sync in longer recordings, or is shifted starts late in recorded tracks, or isn't recorded at all when using certain codecs. It would be nice to have these sound sync problems remedied and have an option to write sound to a .PCM file and allow the user to remix audio as they see fit. 4. This is not a problem, but it would be nice to have codec configuration access from within LOMAC (yes, this may be a PITA). That's my short list :-)
