Well to be honest, we have no idea how far are they in development, and what state of the module is even planned for EA.

Yeah, but that's why the current LITENING was based on, at least where it wasn't more like LANTIRN. If that pod returns to the Viper, it should be a proper LITENING II, without digital zoom.
We will not get Litening II for Viper since they don't have enough public docs for that,
We should get Lantirn later on.

how do you what height to be at when below the tanker? Do the LEDs under rhw tanker indicate this or are they just forward and back and left and right?
You don't need tankers exact altitude, you just need its altitude to find it easier, cause you would need to know which altimeter setting the tanker is using etc,
the led lights on the right side are indicating if you are ahead or behind the correct position and those left side led lights are indicating if you are too low or too high.
Page 154 in the F-16C manual explains this.

Yeah I think that was reported already.
-
Maybe cause the litening pod is just a place holder that they didn't bother updating cause it will get removed eventually.
-
Don't forget that for every new aircraft there need to be AI version done as well so you can fly with wingmen. MiG-29 already has AI in DCS, but F-35 doesn't. Building AI takes time too.

Hi @avimal,
That one is very easy to set up and you can find one in User Files,
for example: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3306414/

Yep agree,
might be ok to post a tail pic to tease once in a while

It's reported afaik, and that I think is wht problem with SPI, they had the same problem with previous pod.

Just get set up correctly under the tanker and the boom operator will connect, easier than hornet imo.

Is this a simulator or not? My problem now is not that the Sniper is bad (coming from the Lantirn on the Strike Eagle, it feels like a GREAT improvement) but that the litening is just too good in comparision.
Also, the Litening V4 from razbam has X16 digital zoom where you can watch the face of a Stinger trooper from 25 NM, where all you should be able to see is a smudge.
I agree, its not the Sniper, its other pods that are not adjusted for time frame. I doubt ATFLIR doesn't lose on image quality when zoomed in back in 2005 (hornet time frame), which is the case now in the hornet.

Much easier to boresight in the air,
you can lock Maverick onto something first then slew your TGP on the same target and hit boresight.

I simply wanted to draw attention to the fact that any disparity in air-frames could affect the sim negatively, when it comes to multi-player bam-bam arena.
Off course PvP to be any fun requires balance, but simulation doesn't, it only requires to be as realistic as it can be.
11 minutes ago, Pavlin_33 said:I also don't know when this "no balance" argument became an integral part of the sim.
Cause simmers wanted realism, and that doesn't include balance

Problem of RL conflicts is that those nations that you have mentioned don't have "cojones" to attack anyone that can match them in air combat, so yeah F-35 vs "flying trash cans" is historically correct. This does not mean, however, that it's ok to have the same situation in a sim.
Them having "cojones" or not is not the topic here.
Reality is that there is no balance in real world. So F-35 or EF2000 or any modern jet can fit in any scenario.

Realistic in MP, involves matching the aircraft era as a baseline. If one side would have advantage or other some counter balance is another matter
In this case you can match F-35 only to itself.
Some war happened very recently which involved F-35, among other modern fighters, vs very old US and Russian fighters that were operated by another country.
So the idea of matching aircraft era to recreate real world conflict can go down the drain

Hi, please read manual and watch Wags videos:
You'll get the idea

Did you do "Ready pre contact"?

This video isn't a good example
Yeah you said this video is 11 years old etc... but you forget that our F-16 is 18 years old. If you have 18 years old video we would love to see it.
Not defending ED here, I'd love more detailed pic but I would rather have realism.
Images you posted earlier have no date on them or they do?
I hope you understand that for your claims you need to have some concrete evidence not just hear say from some guy you said is a pilot, who is actually active pilot and uses sniper pod right so he never saw a sniper pod version from 18 years ago.
Just getting some facts out in the open from what you type here.

I am not seeing the document updated. It's still "DCS: F-16 Early Access Guide" dated Dec. 29, 2024 on the DCS web site. Can't seem to find the updated doc with sniper pod.
You can find it in your DCS folder - DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F-16C\Doc

Came across this quite interesting lecture about aerodynamics and lift generation:

Best video I could find is this one, uploaded 11 years ago, but can't know when it was actually recorded (must be some time before upload time but no info when) so it might be the same as our pod or some different version. Image quality seems better than what we have but I'm not sure we have the same version. Symbology suggests its mounted on F-16.

How does radar work during A-G mode
in DCS: F-16C Viper

I think you misunderstood what the issue is here.
no matter where the nose is pointed it will always scan the ground, when in some cases it is not physically possible to turn the antenna to the ground while the nose is pointed 85 degrees up. Like in this image:
