  4. A great sim of the most awesome vehicle currently available. I really hope ED continues to give the Ka-50 bug-fixing and feature-adding care after A-10 comes out.
  5. Some simple wishes for the next patch: 1. diagonal commands for slewing the Shkval and landing lights. 2. a command that activates both triggers on the Cyclic so I can release weapons or fire guns with the same button.
  6. Another thing is that when I tell them to hold position they fly around like mad.
  7. It would be great if we could set terrain and cockpit textures to high and other vehicle textures to medium or low.
  8. I have turned my draw distance ranges below what is reccommended in the tweak guide, since the guy writing it has a 4GHz C2Duo, which will run this better than my 3.52 GHz Phenom II quad core. Shadows at full is an interesting choice; I am not sure, but I think in most games Shadows are GPU bound. I think you might want to change those to the lowest in game setting after you upgrade your monitor.
  9. My wingman sends me datalink information for maybe 1 in 5 of the targets he calls out over the radio; even when using the recon command.
  10. Don't use the Shkval? I use the Shkval so that the range finder can tell the helicopter's computer the range of the target which should make the aiming mark more accurate. What I want to know is why the aiming mark starts to pitch down a lot and drop off of the HUD 10 seconds or so after locking a stationary target with the laser on. If the aiming mark is more accurate without locking a target than that is a problem with the sim. I get launch permissions just fine; I was just saying that I wish there was a mode where a weapon was released automatically when the Shkval was centered in the aiming mark. As for the SAI it actually does break after I land and turn it's swith off.
  11. When ever I activated the unguided rocket or gun pods they almost always miss. Also there are times when the aiming mark just drops way down off the HUD until I press the lock target button again; even if the Shkval is pointing directly at the target and the target is stationary. How does this work? Does the aiming mark get much less accurate 10 seconds or so after lasing; even if the target is stationary. Speaking of which, Dragon's weapons training mission has some hills full of stationary tanks that don't shoot. Problem is the rockets or guns can't penetrate the tanks. Is there a training mission that has stationary targets, that don't shoot, that rockets and guns can penetrate? Also it looks there is no give the aircraft permission to release weapons function. Edit: Also why does my SAI keep breaking?
  12. Their is a minor bug where when I start the right engine after having started the left engine, I can no longer hear the sounds created by the left engine until the right engine has reached idle RPMs.

  14. funny, I never had this problem; maybe it was because I deleted all the stuff the mouse had in the axis category.

  16. I have not had any problems getting wingmen to engage DL targets yet. But I have been unable to get them to go to ingress points that I have created.
  17. By collective lever, I meant the lever attached to the collective, not the whole collective. In the manual it says that it is used to change the altitude that the autopilot is assigned to hold. I think the altitude hold autopilot is disengaged during the time the lever is squeezed and during this time you can move the collective up or down and watch your altitude; and when you are at the altitude you want you release the lever, and the autopilot will try to hold that alt.

  19. Thanks for the tweakguide. But the people posting recommendations (especially for AA and AF) really need to post what resolution they are running DCS at, as well as their GPU and CPU.
  20. What does the collective lever do in game? Not for me, I have a CH Pro Throttle. Very, very weak resistance.:( Hold on wait a second; a could buy a commercial throttle that was made for the left hand. mount it vertically right beside me; and then I could use it as a collective for the right hand. That is if the thing that attaches it to the base is not too thick and is long enough. But then it would not feel right at all having something with halfway decent resistance in my right hand and my CH Fighterstick in my left. EDIT: So if I understand correctly, the collective lever, also called a brake is used to set a new altitude when an autopilot function that holds altitude is on. So if all the autopilot functions that hold altitude are off, the collective lever does nothing, right?
  21. Nice find, even though they are definitely not suitable for combat aircraft; it is good to know that their are helicopter specific controls at that price point.
  22. I don't like to use the keyboard. Still it is not a big deal and I will use the keystorkes for night missions.
  23. The problem is that in the real world it is very easy to start the KA-50, even in a pitch black environment. The two externals are the first and fourth switches and the two batteries are the second and third switches on the top row of the near vertical right panel; and there is a lone switch in the upper back left of the cockpit that provides enough light. Probably take you about 3 seconds. Since you cannot feel the switches in the game the devs should provide some other source of light. I think DCS is an awesome deal at $40. The lack of multicore processor support is bad though.
  24. When I play the campaign mode the missions are air start or ground start with the engines on. Can I change it to always be an off(cold?) start?
