  1. Yes Please! This is a great idea and mark me down as a +1. Thank you, ED for consideration.
  2. To this point, I can only find a key binding for the LSO view. I have a 60% keyboard in my simpit and I don't have a R-CNTRL or R-ALT key to cycle through crew positions and the CATs and need to rebind these view to a different key combination. Any ideas aside from a new keyboard?
  3. Worked like a champ! Thanks. The strange part was that I could run my stable version and my dev version but not the open beta. Either way, it worked and I got in!
  4. Can't Load Open Beta after Update After updating to 2.5.6.49314, I am getting the attached error message that the program can't find edCore.dll. I tried the repair utility and get the same issue. I searched the Eagle Dynamics folder where my Open Beta Install resides and the edCore.dll is present: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\edCore.dll" I searched the forums here and found some old posts but no resolution. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  5. I use the idle detent switches for engine shutoff. I guess they could do both, but I need to go back and look at the options in DCS but IIRC they are independent functions. I only posted b/c of the confusion I perceived in that the tutorial is correct and the answers are correct if you never messed with the controller config for that aircraft...but if you did and don't remember or don't know, it's a frustrating situation.
  6. This is the answer! For those using the TM Warthog and following along with Wags excellent cold and dark start tutorial, the item that isn't clear in the training mission is that you must have something bound to the Throttle (Right) -Idle and Throttle (Left) -Idle button commands (keyboard default right shift Home as Matt mentions for the right engine) before the right or left engine thrust axies will work. If you load a controller config file or mess with your keyboard bindings before trying the training mission and this command is not bound, you won't get anywhere. You must either have the stock controller config file for the F\A-18 to follow Wags tutorial or you have to go back and bind or re-bind these commands for each engine. On my TM Warthog I bound Engine Crank Switch - Right to JOY_BTN19. Then I bound Throttle (Right) - Idle to the momentary switch JOY_BTN32 (a quick flip forward and you are in business) and the right (Joy_Z) axis will then move the right throttle as you'd expect. I bound Engine Crank Switch - Left to JOY_BTN18. Then I bound Throttle (Left) - Idle to the momentary switch JOY_BTN31 (a quick flip forward and you are in business) and the left (Joy_RZ) axis will then move the right throttle as you'd expect. I hope that was clear. To recap, there is no bug, and Wag's tutorial is perfect...unless...you messed with the stock keybindings like I did or you load a keyboard config file for F\A18-C that doesn't have these bindings set as the stock ones.
  7. I had a good portion of the hardware from other flight sims...just the Warthog is new since I didn't have a throttle suitable for twin jet engines (I did my first couple of flights with left and right thrust mapped to my Cessna panel's throttle and prop axies ;-)). As to modules, yup bought a couple and then saw the announcement Friday that this month is free. Will definitely give the A10C and the Harrier a go. Original thinking was the modules were on a pretty good sale.
  8. Hello all! I started flight simulation back in the Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator Days circa 1998 or 1999. I got sooo excited to see MS CSF2 and got into that until IL-2 came out. I followed that series for quite some time and flew on line quite a bit under the call sign Sliceback which I registered here with. I followed that series until my computer wasn't keeping up, another child came along, then a move and a huge remodel, then I opened a brewery... I didn't think about flight sims for some time until I started working on my PPL here in the US. I got into that and started in with X-Plane to learn procedures, IFR, etc. Then this COVID19 outbreak started and I saw the writing on the wall and knew I wasn't going to be finishing my PPL this year between the closures and financial chaos..better to keep my money in my pocket than in my flight instructors pocket for now. So, what to do and keep the aviation passion burning? DCS of course! I am new to DCS, maybe a month in figuring everything out. I heard about DCS on Vincent Aiello's excellent Fighter Pilot Podcast! Started with the TDP-51D, bought a TM Warhog HOTAS and some Crosswind rudder pedals and put my CH and Saitek stuff on the shelf! I bought the P-51D, BF109 & FW-190, WWII Assets Pack, and Normandy Map. I am implementing Helios on a touchscreen and starting to learn the FA-18. I bought some other maps, planes and modules and I am really stoked to pursue this in parallel with General Aviation. Any old IL-2 Pilots around here? I wish I could remember then name of my old squadron... Cheers!
  9. Cannot start DCS World! DCS won't load says "missing libcef.dll" Tried running the DCS Repair (Start menu > Programs > Eagle Dynamics > DCS > Repair DCS) Didn't help.. :-/ Tried downloading a new libcef.dll and reinstalling in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ No luck... Then got paranoid and decided to run a full virus scan...DCS was working perfectly this morning... Kaspersky says no threats. Scanned the C:\ for all instances of libcef.dll and noticed it in the nVidia folder. Then noticed nVidia has new drivers released today...installed those. I grabbed that version and copied it to Windows System Directory and tried to register it with regsrv32 at the command prompt. No luck. The library wouldn't load. Then ran sfc /scannow at the command prompt. No problems found. Ran some freeware from Outbyte PC Repair after determining it wasn't malware itself; it just sucks and tries to upsell you... stuck with the free version. viola! DCS World 2.5.5 loads and runs perfectly again. Now to uninstall that Outbyte PC Repair that I still don't trust...
