CHSubZero Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Hi ED Team I'm currently re-skinning the A-10Cs with fictional Swiss Air Force skins (based on the real F/A-18). Unfortunately most of the planes shares the same skin files for the wings. So now most of my A-10Cs have US skin, but Swiss wings... Could you please remove those shared skins and use for every A-10C different skin files. If this means you have to duplicate most skin files, please do it. The whole skinning community would thank you. So then we could change the skin of an A-10C without effecting the other A-10C skins. BTW: Is it possible to receive a skin template (PSD or PDN file)? Kuky Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 They don't have to do anything... create new skin entry and you can specify what ever texture you want for each part of the aircraft skin (hint: check .skins file ;) ) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Kuky Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Try .../bazar/A-10C/Model/Shape (you can also do windows search for *.skins and it'll locate all such files for you) EDIT: naaa, wait that's not the one... don't know where to look exactly... but unless ED have changed how 3D models have skins specified that is how you would do it Yup... they mighs have changed how this is done now as I can't find the .skins file for the A-10C... sorry I can't be of more help Edited November 22, 2010 by Kuky PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
CHSubZero Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Unfortunately I don't find any way to add new skins. There is no *.skins file for the A-10C. ED: How can we add new skins without effecting the other skins? Aviation Livery - Explore Military Aircraft Liveries My Mods: DCS User Files
CHSubZero Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 I think I've found the folder: ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Bazar\Liveries\A-10C Aviation Livery - Explore Military Aircraft Liveries My Mods: DCS User Files
CHSubZero Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 I've tested it. It works great. Here a short step-by-step manual: 1) Copy/Paste an existing folder in the directory "...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Bazar\Liveries\A-10C" 2) Rename the folder to the name you want to show ingame (e.g. "J-5011 Tiger Meet") 3) Edit the "description.lua" file and set the name to your skin files. You can also set there the country you want to show your skin (e.g. "GER") 4) Place the skin files in the directory "...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Bazar\TempTextures" Start the game and enjoy your flight Aviation Livery - Explore Military Aircraft Liveries My Mods: DCS User Files
joey45 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 What files do we do we change?? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
