I do a lot of testing of mods while in development and something like this would be very handy.

To be able to add pages of notes and code used would speed development time.

Even though I fly "Rift airlines" most of the times, I do like to "stop and smell the roses" so to speak with the beautiful graphics packages available.

And they are gorgeous!

This would be nice to have at eye level while flying a aircraft not used in some time.

Would help refresh this ageing memory! :D

I do have two Liliput monitors but prefer to keep these for other data.

Is this possible?

Would android work better?

Something already available?

Thanks

I use this App ... allows you to organize your pdf files in folders, also accepts jpg files, can add annotations to your pdfs, can have several pdfs open at the same time

https://www.goodreader.com

Also can sync the documents with a folder of your pc, can open pdfs on dropbox, onedrive, etc ... really a most useful app ... not only as a doc reader, but also to organize your docs.

I've used it since my ipad 1 ... and still the best app of its kind after all these years :)

Ps: android has no equivalent App ... Goodreader is ios only.

Hawkeye60,

I second Rudel's recommendation of GoodReader for the iPad. We use it in the USAF as part of our E-Pubs program. Excellent App! Inexpensive and you won't be disappointed.

Cheers,

I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) :pilotfly:

You're welcome :) ... here are some screenshots of this App, so that more people can see a glimpse of how goodreader looks:

This is the main screen, where you can set up a folder structure to hold your documents ... I've set up a top level folder to hold just my DCS related stuff, then further subdivided it by aircraft type .. on the right side the multiple connection options can be seen, with them I can access books on any cloud or file server that I've access to ... all through Wi-Fi without ever using iTunes:

This is the reading screen, where the App gets out of the way and 100% of the screen space is used to show the document ... in this case, the document doesnt have the same proportions as the screen, so there is a bit of wasted space on the sides. The annotations menu is shown (appears when you touch and hold on some text), you can highlight, type notes, etc.

If I need to interact with the App, I touch the screen in the middle and its interface shows up on the borders, like this ... it can be seen that I currently have two documents open and I can easily switch between them.

One of the most useful App features, is its ability to crop the page margins, in order to maximize the size of the text, as I've done here:

Finally, one of the best ways to really learn something, is to write our own summaries ... and on newer iPads it can be done using split screen, like this ... my summaries are on my native language, but you get the idea :)

I used to use printed manuals and DCS's kneeboard, but I've found that an iPad (even an old one, there is GoodReader starting at iOS 5) is much more usable for having reference info at my side .... tough I realize that for VR users it isnt practical.

Best regards.
