Ewertsp Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Anyone of you guys having the same problem? When I use only the MSAA I get the blue sea texture, without the colors and patterns of shallow waters. My settings: Tex - H Terrain - H Water - H Shadows - H 1080p MSAA off SSAO 1.5x Anisot 2x I'm running an i7 8700k, 16gb ram at 3200, gtx970 and a NVME SSD.
Keakaha Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 I experienced a similar issue today with SSAA enabled and MSAA disabled, see the attached screenshots. External view you can see this artifact in the shape of the aircraft while inside you can see the hard edge it creates on the water with lighter side having all of the different shades of shallow/deep water and shorelines. I tried again this time with SSAA off and MSAAx4 and everything was fine, beautiful looking water and shorelines with different shades for deep and shallow water, one last time I tried with both MSAA and SSAA disabled and noticed the artifact had returned. Interestingly after I exited the game and came to post here I decided to give it one more test before doing so and this time no matter the AA setting I could not reproduce the artifact. Perhaps an intermittent bug? I haven't yet rebuilt FXO and Metashaders folders since the PG patch, maybe that could help?

Ewertsp Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 Here it always happens with SSAA on and MSAA off. If MSAA is on or SSAA is off I get the nice textures but it feels like the overall appearance has darker colors than what is shown inside the artifacts.
YoYo Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Restart the sim after changes, I think will be ok. comie1 Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 (edited) I get strange horizontal lines across the sea in VR their thickness differs with altitude. Anyone else getting this? Seems to be related to MSAA as turning it off makes the sea go crazy, but there is no difference between 2x and 4x Edited May 25, 2018 by comie1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] https://www.twitch.tv/comie1
Keakaha Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Weather you change the AA you have to restart the sim;) Restart the sim after changes, I think will be ok. Yea that does the trick, I did notice after this latest update that changing AA settings does not automatically restart the game as it was prior If I remember correctly. Further testing revealed to me that starting DCS with MSAA enabled and then changing to SSAA without restarting will always produce the artifact, whereas starting DCS with zero AA or with SSAA enabled and then changing the AA settings without restarting would not produce the artifact.
