Which driver version do you have for the Radeon?

Are you starting the program through the shortcut prepared by the installer, or are you starting from launcher.exe or dcs.exe directly in the folders?

Finally, if starting through the prepared shortcuts, does the problem arise in both single-player and multi-player?

Hello and thank you for the reply. The game starts in multiplayer, if I try to start single player from the directory nothing happens at all, but starting from the short cut I get that error message. yes I do have the latest drivers installed.

Righto, the problem is in launcher.exe then.

Though actually, in the case of the Radeons it seems the most common issue is when people do have the newest drivers. 8.12 seem the most successful, but I don't use Radeons myself so can't say for certain how the newest acts.

Line 198 of Blackshark.lua reads "Gui.Create(main_w, main_h, fullscreen)" on my machine, so it appears to be in the creation of the user interface that it shits on itself. I don't find WidgetTheme.cpp though.

But since we know what it's trying to do and it's a graphical thing, you could test with first disabling Catalyst AI (it causes lots of strange errors it seems - or at least is correlated to a lot of them), and if that fails and no-one else comes up with another possibility until then, you could attempt reverting to 8.12 and see if that changes the behaviour.

I thought I recognized the issue! Here's some stuff for you. :)

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=666703&highlight=widgettheme.cpp#post666703

I'm getting the launcher.exe error as well, but I'm also getting this message:

\blackshark\blackshark.lua :198: Lua stack corrupted! File [luamodules\gui\widgettheme.cpp] line [636]

I don't mind reinstalling if it's a corrupted file, but I hate to burn another activation. If I could find the file maybe I could delete it and reinstall over the top of my existing install and it would rewrite it.

Suggestions on avoiding the 2nd pop on my renewal?

Thanks,

Nyxs

and

Wow. It seems it was my ATI card. Rather, I had Catalyst AI enabled. Once disabled, the error went away. I'm finding many games that don't like the AI enabled along with vista64.

Maybe it will help someone...

I am, however, blissfully running it at 2560x1600 4xAA 8XAF - everything maxed out now. This sim is beautiful.

Cheers!

Nyxs

Thanks, I have installed 8.10 and what a gem except every time I open a menu I get the message below but if I close it still works ok. I have re-installed but get the same.

8.12 are the latest rock stable ATI drivers out. Switch to them regardless what else you do. The 9.4's came out the last few days but I haven't heard a report on them and Black Shark.

I have disabled AI and installed 8.12 drivers and added the file into windows/system32 but still get the same message even though the sim works fine, it just appears when I change menus but I click ok and continue onto the next menu.
